The Secret of Power

Never before has there been a greater need for sanctified men and women than in this time in which we live today. The world is advancing at a rapid pace. Satan has

a hold and is exercising his dominion over the world and is determined to do everything in his power to achieve his goals. If we look at Paul, he lived on his knees so that the church of Ephesus could reach the height, breadth and depth of unfathomable spirituality and also be filled with the fullness of God.

Eph. 3:18 ‘That ye may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and depth and height,

Eph. 3:19 and to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.’

The secret of power is a holiness that strengthens the soul, it sets the whole man on fire with love, with a desire for greater faith, greater zeal, greater devotion. This must become our necessity, and we must, fired by the Holy Spirit, be the embodiment of this devotion. God’s cause is greatly harmed and His name dishonored by lack of devotion in prayer.

Bible Teaching of the Day

Concentrate on the Cross – Part 8

The Stations of the Cross, also known as the Via Dolorosa, is a narration of the final hours in the life of Jesus Christ on earth that continues to provide spiritual conviction for every Christian and application to our lives. The Stations of the Cross serve as a stark reminder of the humble manner in which Jesus was willing to set aside any privilege of deity in order to provide a path to salvation through His sacrifice.

There are several widely accepted versions describing those final hours, one being biblical and the others being more traditional accounts of events in Jesus’ final hours. The traditional form of the Stations of the Cross is as follows:

  1. Jesus is condemned to death.
  2. Jesus is given His cross.
  3. Jesus falls down for the first time.
  4. Jesus meets His mother Mary.
  5. Simon of Cyrene is forced to carry the cross.
  6. Veronica wipes blood off of Jesus’ face.
  7. Jesus falls down for the second time.
  8. Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem.
  9. Jesus falls down for the third time.
  10. Jesus is stripped of His clothing.
  11. Jesus is nailed to the cross – the Crucifixion.
  12. Jesus dies on the cross.
  13. Jesus’ body is removed from the cross – the Deposition or Lamentation.
  14. Jesus’ body is placed in the tomb.

In the traditional form of the Stations of the Cross, however, stations 3, 4, 6, 7, and 9 are not explicitly biblical. As a result, a “Scriptural Way of the Cross” has been developed. Below are the biblical descriptions of the 14 Stations of the Cross and the life application of each.

1st Station of the Cross: Jesus on the Mount of Olives (Luke 22:39-46).
Jesus prayed on the Mount of Olives for His Father to take the cup from His hand that meant His death on the cross; it demonstrated the humanity of Jesus (Luke 22:39-46). It is not difficult to imagine how great His anticipation was concerning the events He was about to face. There comes a time in the life of all Christians when they must also choose between God’s will and their own, and that choice, like Jesus’ choice, displays the level of commitment and obedience to God, as well as the true condition of the heart. Even though Jesus was aware of the fate He was about to face when He prayed on the Mount of Olives for God to alter the events, His prayer was that the Father’s will be done regardless of what the future held for Him. Even nailed to the cross with His life’s breath slipping away, Jesus was still teaching us the importance of obedience to God’s Word and the importance of trusting Him in every situation.

2nd Station of the Cross: Jesus is betrayed by Judas and arrested (Luke 22:47-48).
Judas not only became one of the most despised characters in history when he betrayed Jesus; he also became a haunting reminder to every Christian that there have been times they have fallen to temptation to sin. For the Christian, stumbling in sin is like betraying the One who gave His life for us. How much greater is that betrayal when the sin is a chosen behavior, deliberately turning away from spiritual conviction (Luke 22:47-48)? Judas lived with Jesus and sat at His feet learning from Him for years. But because his heart was not truly transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit, he fell away when tempted by Satan. As believers, we are told to “examine ourselves” to see if we are truly in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).

3rd Station of the Cross: Jesus is condemned by the Sanhedrin (Luke 22:66-71).
The Sanhedrin council, made up of seventy priests and scribes and one high priest, demanded that Pilate execute Jesus. This incident serves as a warning for all Christians to be careful not to exalt ourselves by self-righteously judging others. Biblical knowledge and exalted positions in this world still fall pitifully short of holy perfection, and prideful thinking can easily be the downfall of even the most pious among men. The Bible teaches us to respect positions of authority, but ultimately it is God’s will and God’s Word that should reign supreme in our lives. Christians are gifted with a baptism of God’s Holy Spirit to comfort, teach, and guide them in every situation, allowing them to make every decision according to the perfect will of God, essentially negating an individual’s need for religious rulers like the Sanhedrin. The Jewish people’s entrusting supreme religious authority to the Sanhedrin led to corruption among many of the priests and scribes of the Sanhedrin, and when Jesus began to teach a doctrine that undermined their authority, they plotted against Him, ultimately demanding His crucifixion by the Roman government (Luke 22:66-71).

4th Station of the Cross: Peter denies Jesus (Luke 22:54-62).
When Jesus was arrested, a number of those present at the time accused Peter of being one of Jesus’ followers (Luke 22:54-62). As previously predicted by Jesus, Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. Peter was Jesus’ beloved and trusted disciple who witnessed many miracles firsthand, even walking on water with Jesus (Matthew 14:29-31). Even so, Peter demonstrated the weakness of humanity by denying Jesus for fear of also being arrested. Christians all over the world still face persecution and humiliation by the non-believing in society, from verbal abuse to beatings and death. People might self-righteously judge Peter for his denial of Jesus and his fear of what the Romans would do to him if they discovered his relationship with Jesus, but how many Bible-believing Christians can say they have never remained silent about their faith in the face of discrimination, public or private? Such a silence demonstrates the imperfect frailty of humanity. Peter’s faith was an imperfect faith, primarily because he was not indwelt by the Holy Spirit at that time. After the coming of the Spirit at Pentecost to live in the hearts of believers (Acts 2), Peter was a valiant lion of faith, never again fearing to proclaim His Lord.

5th Station of the Cross: Jesus is judged by Pontius Pilate (Luke 23:13-25).
By today’s legal standards, it is unlikely that Jesus would have been convicted in any court, especially since no real evidence against Him could be produced. Pontius Pilate could find no fault in anything Jesus had done and wanted to release Him (Luke 23:13-24), but the Sanhedrin demanded that Pilate order His execution. The Sanhedrin, who ruled according to strict Mosaic Law and tradition, considered Jesus a major threat to their ruling authority over the Jews. Jesus taught the people that salvation was by the grace of God and not by adherence to the many precepts set forth by the Sanhedrin, and such teaching not only undermined the authority of the religious leaders, but it also posed a serious threat to the livelihood that they enjoyed as a result of their control over the Jewish people. Even today, the message of salvation by the power and choice of God, not by our own efforts, is unpopular. Human beings in their fallen nature always want to achieve their own salvation, or at least have a part in it, so we can claim at least a part of the glory. But salvation is of the Lord, who shares His glory with no one (Isaiah 42:8).

6th Station of the Cross: Jesus is scourged and crowned with thorns (Luke 22:63-65).
The healing referred to in this passage is spiritual healing, or healing from sin. Pardon of sin, and restoration to the favor of God, are frequently represented as an act of healing. Over five hundred years before Mary gave birth to Jesus, Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be wounded for our transgressions (Isaiah 53:3-6) and bruised for our inequities and that by His stripes we would be healed.

7th Station of the Cross: Jesus takes up His cross (John 19:17).
When Jesus took up His cross, He was carrying more than wood. Unknown to the many spectators that day, Jesus was carrying the sins of mankind, facing the punishment those sins deserved, which He was about to suffer on man’s behalf. Jesus exhorts us in Matthew 16:24, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” He also reveals that this is not an option: “…and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me (Matthew 10:38). Taking up our cross, an instrument of death, means dying to self in order to live as completely new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17) in service and obedience to Christ. This means surrendering to God our will, our affections, our ambitions, and our desires. We are not to seek our own happiness as the supreme object, but be willing to renounce all and lay down our lives also, if required.

8th Station of the Cross: Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry His cross (Luke 23:26).
Simon of Cyrene might be considered a victim of circumstance. He had most likely come to Jerusalem for the Passover festivities and probably knew little about the proceedings at hand. We know very little about Simon of Cyrene since he is not mentioned in the Bible after he helped to carry the cross upon which Jesus would be nailed (Luke 23:26). Ordered to help by the Roman soldiers, Simon did not resist, most likely fearing for his own life in light of the situation at hand. Unlike Jesus, who carried His cross willingly, Simon of Cyrene was “compelled” or forced to carry it. As Christians, we are to join Jesus in His suffering willingly, as Paul exhorts us, “So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God” (2 Timothy 1:8).

9th Station of the Cross: Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem (Luke 23:27-31).
When Jesus encountered the weeping women and some of His disciples on His way to crucifixion, He cautioned them that they should not weep for Him, but that their concerns should be for themselves and the lives of their children considering the rising evil throughout Jerusalem (Luke 23:27-31). Even while suffering great pain and personal humiliation, Jesus’ concern was not for Himself, but for the lives and souls of those who faced the danger of eternal damnation because of the sin in their lives. The same caution is relevant for Christians today that we should be careful not to allow our concerns for this world to come before our devotion and obedience to God. Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world” (John 18:36), and as citizens of heaven, our focus and attention should be there.

10th Station of the Cross: Jesus is crucified (Luke 23:33-47).
It is difficult, over two thousand years after the fact, to imagine the horror of the moment as those closest to Jesus were forced to helplessly stand by as the spikes were driven through His hands and feet into the timber on which He would take His last breath in human form (Luke 23:44-46). His loved ones and disciples did not yet fully understand the meaning of what was taking place at the time. They were not yet able to understand that this evil deed of men was the result of divine purpose and planning for the salvation of all who would believe in the Christ. For us today, “how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?” (Hebrews 2:3). “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

11th Station of the Cross: Jesus promises His kingdom to the believing thief (Luke 23:43).
It is possible that the thief being crucified next to Jesus was able to grasp the concept that life was not ending for Jesus, but that He was transcending the physical world into eternal promise from which He came to provide for humanity. The thief would become one of the first to enter paradise by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus told the thief that he would be in paradise that day with Him because he accepted and believed in the Son of God. Clearly, this is an example that a person is saved by grace through faith rather than by works, as those who persecuted and condemned Jesus would have the people believe.

12th Station of the Cross: Jesus on the cross speaks with His mother and disciples (John 19:26-27).
Jesus, in His dying moment, was still putting the needs of others before His own as He selflessly committed the care of His mother to His beloved disciple John (John 19:27). His entire life, including His death, taught by example that we are to put the needs of others before our own, subjecting everything to the perfect will of God. The willingness to abide by His Word and demonstrate with actions by faithfully sacrificing for others in the face of adversity, are defining characteristics of the true Christian life.

13th Station of the Cross: Jesus dies on the cross (Luke 23:44-46).
At the moment of Jesus’ death, the curtain in the Temple, which separated men from the holy of holies, tore from top to bottom. This was terrifying for all the Jews who witnessed the event, who did not realize it signified the end to the Old Covenant and the beginning of the New Covenant. No longer would man have to suffer separation from God because of sin, but we would now be able to approach the throne of grace boldly in prayer for forgiveness of sins. The life and sacrificial death of Jesus had removed the barrier of sin, making it possible for man to obtain salvation by grace.

14th Station of the Cross: Jesus is laid in the tomb (Luke 23:50-54).
After Jesus died and was taken down from the cross, He was laid to rest in a tomb provided by a man named Joseph, from the Jewish town of Arimathea (Luke 23:50-54). Joseph happened to also be a member of the Sanhedrin, but was opposed to the trial and crucifixion of Jesus. Joseph secretly believed that Jesus was the Messiah according to Scripture, but feared the consequence of acknowledging his belief publicly (John 19:38). After Jesus died, Joseph went to Pilate secretly and requested the body of Jesus so that he might provide a proper burial.

Jesus’ great sacrifice not only became the atonement for man’s sins, but it also became the victory that would defeat and overcome death, which would have otherwise been the inescapable fate of all men who are born under the curse of sin. Sin carries its own inescapable penalty, and that penalty is death. Our Creator is just and fair and so demanded that the penalty for sin be paid. Because God is loving and merciful as well as just, He sent His only begotten Son to pay the penalty for our sins, knowing we were otherwise doomed for all eternity (John 3:16). God’s love and mercy are greatly demonstrated by the words of Jesus as He hung dying on the cross when He asked God to forgive those who were killing Him in their ignorance (Luke 23:34). It is easy to surmise that man’s unwillingness to fully surrender in obedience to God’s Word and law is because of his lack of knowledge and wisdom. The irony of that summation is the fatality it produced for Jesus on the cross becomes spiritual fatality for those unable to overcome the same ignorance that still plagues much of humanity today. The sinful man who refuses to accept the gift of salvation that Jesus made possible by His sacrifice is surely the product of rebellious ignorance and sin that separates a man from the wisdom of God.

  1. Jesus is ter dood veroordeel.
  2. Jesus word Sy kruis gegee.
  3. Jesus val vir die eerste keer neer.
  4. Jesus ontmoet Sy moeder Maria.

As gevolg hiervan is ‘n “Skriftuurlike Kruisweg” ontwikkel.

Today’s Devotional

“CURRY AND RICE ”

Last week we visited a church event where they also sold food. Amongst others they were selling beef “curry and rice”. Since I like having hot curry every now and then, we bought curry and rice, thinking that it would be nice. Unfortunately, it wasn’t hot at all. In fact, they should have called it “mince and rice” for there was close to no curry in it at all. The excuse used was that there are those who do not like hot food, so they did not add too much curry.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the Gospel or the preaching there-off, there are those who also prefer a mild or slightly spicy message. In his letter to Timothy, Paul wrote, “For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. And they will turn away their ears from the truth and will be turned to myths. (2 Timothy 4:3-4)

This begs me to ask the question, “Do we want to be merely entertained, motivated, encouraged or do we want to hear a Holy Spirit driven, fiery hot sermon that cuts through meat and bone to touch our innermost being?” Do we want to leave church feeling good or do we want to leave church feeling convicted of sin and driven by the Holy Spirit to living lives dedicated, consecrated, holy and Godly?

The Bible tells us that in the last days, grievous times will be at hand. For men will be self-lovers, money-lovers, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, unyielding, false accusers, without self-control, savage, despisers of good, traitors, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it; even turn away from these. : For of these are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women loaded with sins, led away with different kinds of lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the full knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 3:1-7)

Oh, but the Lord also says that “it shall be in the last days, says God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And in those days I will pour out My Spirit upon My slaves and My slave women, and they shall prophesy. And I will give wonders in the heaven above, and miracles on the earth below, blood and fire and vapor of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before that great and glorious Day of the Lord. And it shall be that everyone who shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Acts 2:17-21)

Today I urge you not to be like one of those who does not like it hot but let us be concerned about the condition of our soul while listening to the Word. Let it not be said that of us, that we wanted it to be softly said or silently spoken because we did not want to be offended.

(2 Timoteus 3:1-7)

O, maar die Here sê ook: “Dit sal in die laaste dae wees, spreek God, Ek sal van my Gees uitstort op alle vlees.

Trump (Eagle Wings) Considers Indirect Nuclear Talks with Iran (King of the North and Member of Magog) , Prepares for War

US President Donald Trump may accept Iran’s proposal for indirect nuclear talks — but will also shore up military forces in the region ready to strike if the need arises, according to US officials.

Trump and Iran have been embroiled in a battle of words, with the US President threatening to bomb the Islamic Republic if a nuclear deal is not reached.

Trump’s time frame for a potential deal is two months, although it is not clear when the period began.

Trump’s willingness to accept indirect talks is a departure from his previous insistence on direct negotiations.

According to the plan, Oman will mediate in the talks between Iran and the US.

A US official said, “After the exchange of letters, we are now exploring the next steps to begin conversations and building trust with the Iranians.”

The rhetoric between Trump and Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has intensified recently.

Responding to Trump’s threat, Khamenei said he didn’t think the US would strike, but that they would certainly receive “a heavy blow in return” if they did.

Iran filed a diplomatic protest through the Swiss embassy that the Islamic Republic would “respond decisively and immediately to any threat.”

“The US has 10 bases and 50,000 soldiers in the region … If you live in a glass house, you shouldn’t throw stones,” the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps declared on Iranian television.

Last week, in an interview with the American NBC News network, Trump threatened Tehran that, “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing.”

Trump Accuses Israel (The Women with the 12 Stars around her head) of Stealing USA (Eagle Wings) Intellectual Property, Slaps on 17% Tariff

Despite Israel dropping all remaining tariffs on US goods, Trump administration imposes across the board 17% tariffs on all Israeli goods, accusing Israel of “stealing a lot of intellectual property.”

President Donald Trump imposed sweeping tariffs on all foreign countries Wednesday, including American allies and major trade partners.

In a ceremony at the Rose Garden, the president signed executive orders closing tariff loopholes and imposing across-the-board import taxes on all foreign countries.

“Today, President Donald J. Trump declared that foreign trade and economic practices have created a national emergency, and his order imposes responsive tariffs to strengthen the international economic position of the United States and protect American workers,” the White House said.

Trump castigated the trade imbalance of the past half century, claiming that the U.S. had been “looted pillaged, raped, and plundered by nations near and far, both friend and foe alike.”

The president called his new tariffs a “declaration of economic independence,” while foreign leaders threatened to impose reciprocal import taxes on American goods.

The orders were issued under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA) and include a baseline 10% tariff on all countries.

However, 60 countries were penalized with higher tariffs, the White House said, targeting the “worst offenders.”

A 34% across-the-board tariff will be levied on Chinese goods. American allies, including the European Union and Japan, are also facing elevated tariff rates, with a 20% tariff imposed on goods from the EU and a 24% tariff on Japanese imports.

Introduction to the Bible

The New Testament

Matthew — The ministry of Jesus Christ is presented from the point of view that Jesus is the
Son of David and thus the rightful king to rule from Israel’s throne. Jesus offers the kingdom to
His people, but Israel rejects Him as their king and crucifies Him. Jesus rises again and sends His
disciples into all the world to proclaim His teaching.
Mark — The ministry of Jesus Christ is presented from the point of view that Jesus is the
Righteous Servant of God. Jesus obeys the Father’s will and accomplishes all He had been sent
to do, including dying for sinners and rising again from the dead.
Luke — The ministry of Jesus Christ is presented from the point of view that Jesus is the Son of
Man who came to save the whole world. Jesus shows the love of God to all classes of people,
regardless of race or gender. He is unjustly betrayed, arrested, and murdered, but He rises again.
John — The ministry of Jesus Christ is presented from the point of view that Jesus is the Son of
God. Jesus speaks at length of His nature and work and the necessity of faith, and He proves
that He is the Son of God through a series of public miracles. He is crucified and rises again.
Acts — This sequel to the life of Christ follows the ministry of the apostles following Jesus’
ascension. The Holy Spirit arrives to fill and empower Jesus’ followers, who begin to preach the
gospel in the midst of mounting persecution. Paul, a former enemy of the Christians, is
converted and called by Christ as an apostle. The church begins in Jerusalem, expands to
Samaria, and spreads to the Roman world.
Romans — This theological treatise, written by Paul on one of his missionary journeys, examines
the righteousness of God and how God can declare guilty sinners to be righteous based on the
sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Having been justified by faith, believers live in holiness before the world.
1 Corinthians — The church in Corinth is riddled with problems, and the apostle Paul writes to
give them God’s instructions on how to deal with various issues, including sin and division in the
church, marriage, idolatry, spiritual gifts, the future resurrection, and the conduct of public
worship.
2 Corinthians — The problems in the church in Corinth have for the most part been worked
through, and Paul writes this letter to encourage them, to explain the love gift he is collecting
for Judean Christians, and to defend his apostleship against critics who are speaking out against
him.
Galatians — False teachers have infiltrated the churches in Galatia, falsely suggesting that works
of the law (specifically circumcision) must be added to faith in Christ in order for salvation to be
real. In no uncertain terms, Paul condemns the mixture of law and grace, showing that salvation
and sanctification are all of grace. Christ’s salvation has set us free. We rely on the Spirit’s work,
not our own.
Ephesians — Salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ, and not by our own works. The
life Jesus gives, to Jew and Gentile alike, results in a new heart and a new walk in this world. The
church is the Body of Christ, and marriage is a picture of Christ and the church. God has
provided spiritual armor to wage spiritual battle.
Philippians — Writing this letter from a Roman prison, Paul thanks the church in Philippi for the
love gift they had sent him. The gospel of Christ is advancing in the world, despite hardship, and
Christians can rejoice in that. We are urged to humble ourselves as Christ did, be unified, and
press toward the goal of pleasing the Lord in all things.
Colossians — Despite what false teachers might claim, Jesus Christ is the Savior, Lord, and
Creator of all things. In Him, all believers are made alive and complete; they need not submit
themselves to manmade regulations or the mandates of the Old Testament law. The new life we
have in Christ will affect our relationships with spouses, parents, children, masters, and servants.
1 Thessalonians — Paul reviews the start of the church in Thessalonica, and he commends them
for their steadfast faith. Believers are encouraged to live pure lives and to maintain the hope that
Jesus will return. When Christ comes again, He will resurrect believers who have died and will
rapture those still living to be with Him forever. The Day of the Lord is coming, which will result
in the judgment of this world.
2 Thessalonians — The church of Thessalonica is enduring persecution, and some believers
wonder if the Day of the Lord had already arrived. Paul assures them that what they are
experiencing is not God’s judgment. Before that terrible day comes, there must be a worldwide
rebellion, a removal of the Restrainer, and the rise to power of the man of lawlessness. But God
will protect His children. Until the time that Christ returns, keep doing what is right.
1 Timothy — Timothy, the pastor of the church in Ephesus, is the recipient of this letter from
Paul. A pastor must be qualified spiritually, be on guard against false doctrine, pray, care for
those in the church, train other leaders, and above all faithfully preach the truth.
2 Timothy — In this very personal letter at the end of his life, Paul encourages Timothy to hold
fast to the faith, focus on what is truly important, persevere in dangerous times, and preach the
Word of God.
Titus — Titus, an overseer of churches on the island of Crete, has the job of appointing elders in
the churches there, making sure the men are qualified spiritually. He must beware of false
teachers, avoid distractions, model the Christian life, and enjoin all believers to practice good
works.
Philemon — In this short letter to Philemon, a believer in Colossae, the apostle Paul urges him
to show the love of Christ and be reconciled to a runaway, thieving slave. Under Roman law, the
slave could face severe punishment, but Paul urges grace for the sake of Christ. Philemon should
welcome his slave back into the household, not as a slave now but as a beloved brother in
Christ.
Hebrews — There are Jewish members of the church who are tempted to return to the Jewish
law. The author of this epistle urges them not to look back but to move on to full spiritual
maturity, by faith. Jesus Christ is better than angels and better than Moses, and He has provided
a better sacrifice, a better priesthood, and a better covenant than anything in the Old Testament.
Having left Egypt, we must enter the Promised Land, not continue to wander aimlessly in the
wilderness.
James — In this very practical book, James shows what faith lived out looks like. True, saving
faith will affect our prayer life, our words, our response to trials, and our treatment of others.
1 Peter — The apostle Peter writes to believers under persecution in Asia Minor, addressing
them as “God’s elect, exiles scattered” (1 Peter 1:1). He reminds them of the grace of God,
assures them of their heavenly home, teaches them to exhibit holiness, instructs them on marital
relations, and encourages them as they face suffering.
2 Peter — With his death impending, Peter writes the churches, exhorting them to follow the
Word of God, identify and avoid false teachers, and live in holiness as they await the second
coming of Christ.
1 John — God is light, love, and truth. Those who truly belong to Christ will seek fellowship with
His redeemed; walk in the light, not in darkness; confess sin; obey God’s Word; love God;
experience a decreasing pattern of sin in their lives; demonstrate love for other Christians; and
experience victory in their Christian walk.
2 John — The Christian life is a balance of truth and love. We cannot forsake truth in the name
of love; neither can we cease loving because of a misdirected notion of upholding the truth.
3 John — Two men are contrasted: Gaius, who shows his commitment to truth and love through
hospitality; and Diotrephes, who shows his malice and pride through a lack of hospitality.
Jude — The message of the gospel will not change. But there are men who attempt to pervert
the message and teach false doctrines to benefit themselves and lead people astray. These men
must be resisted in the truth.
Revelation — Jesus is the Lord of the church, and He knows the condition of each local body of
believers. The end times will be marked by an increase in wickedness, the rise of the Antichrist’s
one-world government, and the fury of Satan against God’s people on earth. God pours out His
wrath on a rebellious and unrepentant world in a series of judgments that steadily increase in
severity. Finally, the Lamb of God returns to earth with the armies of heaven, defeating the
forces of evil arrayed against Him and setting up His kingdom of peace. Satan, the Antichrist,
and the wicked of every age are thrown into the lake of fire, while the followers of Christ inherit
a new heaven and new earth.
Old Testament

alle klasse mense, ongeag ras of geslag.
ervaar nie God se oordeel is nie. Voordat daardie verskriklike dag aanbreek, moet daar ‘n
Jakobus — In hierdie baie praktiese boek wys Jakobus hoe uitgeleefde geloof lyk. Waarlik,
gemeenskap met Sy verlostes soek; wandel in die lig, nie in duisternis nie; sonde bely;
gehoorsaam God se Woord; lief vir God; ervaar ‘n afnemende patroon van sonde in hul lewens;
