How to Love God !

In the Bible, Jesus tells us how to love God: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37). In other words, God wants us to love Him with our whole being and in every possible way. God’s own Son taught us to love God the Father with everything we are, saying this was the first and greatest of all the commandments (verse 38).

God wants us to love Him exclusively above all other things and beings. Lukewarm, half-hearted, or apathetic fondness for God won’t do. He wants our total devotion. The Bible says that King David—the man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22)—had this kind of singular passion for God: “As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him?” (Psalm 42:1–2, NLT).

David exemplified how we are to love God by delighting in praise and worship of Him: “My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God” (Psalm 84:2, ESV; see also Psalm 43:4; 122:1).

Even so, we know that David did not love God perfectly. His ability to love God was often hindered by his human weakness toward sin, just as ours is. But when we fail, we turn to God as David did and declare, “Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:25–26, ESV).

We love God by keeping His commands and doing His will (John 14:15, 23; 1 John 5:3; 2 John 1:6; Psalm 40:8). Jesus said the second greatest command, which is like the first, is to love others, and the measure by which we are to love them is as much as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39). It is impossible to genuinely love the Lord without loving other people, for the desire within God’s heart is to love others: “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world . . . as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (1 John 4:7–11). Because of God’s love for us, we are bound to love one another. Demonstration of that love is carried out in part by reproducing His life in others as we spread the gospel of His kingdom.

God desires to have an intimate love relationship with us. Our love for Him is a response to His divine love for us (1 John 4:19). We express our love for God by spending time in His presence, enjoying His nearness, listening to His voice, reading His Word, and daily seeking to know Him better. As the apostle Paul said, “Whoever loves God is known by God” (1 Corinthians 8:3).

Perhaps one of the purest examples in the Bible of how to love God comes from an unnamed woman who anointed the Lord’s feet with her perfume (Luke 7:36–50). So grateful was she for Christ’s forgiveness of her many sins that she poured out her love in extravagant worship and absolute devotion. This woman appreciated the true worth of her Savior, and in humble gratitude, sacrifice, and servitude, she loved and worshiped Jesus with her tears, her hair, her kisses, and her priceless bottle of perfume. She loved God with all she was and everything she had to offer.

Dawid het gedemonstreer hoe ons God moet liefhê deur Hom te verlustig in lof en aanbidding: “My siel verlang, ja, smag na die voorhowe van die HERE; my hart en my vlees jubel tot die lewende God” (Psalm 84:2; sien ook Psalm 43:4; 122:1).

Tog weet ons dat Dawid God nie volkome liefgehad het nie. Sy vermoë om God lief te hê, is dikwels belemmer deur sy menslike swakheid teenoor sonde, net soos ons s’n. Ons het God lief deur Sy gebooie te onderhou en Sy wil te doen (Johannes 14:15, 23; 1 Johannes 5:3; 2 Johannes 1:6; Psalm 40:8). Jesus het gesê die tweede grootste gebod, wat soos die eerste is, is om ander lief te hê, en die mate waarmee ons hulle moet liefhê, is soveel as wat ons onsself liefhet (Matteus 22:39). 4 Greek words for Love in the Bible

There are at least four different Greek words that are used for “love,” but not all of them are found in the New Testament. (Actually there are more than four Greek words for “love,” but usually it is these four that come up in discussions.)

The first Greek word for “love” is eros, which refers to romantic or sexual love. From it we get the word erotic. This specific word is not used in the New Testament.

The second is storge, which refers to familial love like that of a mother for her baby or of a brother and sister for each other. It is not used in the New Testament; however, the negative term astorgoi (“unloving”) is found in 2 Timothy 3:3, and a similar term, astorgous (“no love” in the NIV and “without natural affection” in the KJV), is found in Romans 1:31.

The third Greek word for “love,” philia, refers to friendship and comradery. This word is often translated as “friend” (one who is loved) in the New Testament. Once, in Romans 12:10, the New Testament uses the compound word philostorgos, which is translated in the NIV as “devoted . . . in love.”

Finally, agape is used to speak of God’s love that He has for the world and that Christians are supposed to emulate. This is the word for “love” that is most commonly used in the New Testament. For a while it was thought that Christians must have coined the word agape to speak of a godly kind of love that the Greek world knew nothing of. But the word agape was in fact in use in the Roman Empire, and it was not coined by Christians to communicate God’s love.

While these four terms do express different nuances of the concept of love, they cannot be pressed in every situation. At one time, many people thought that the Greek language had an almost mathematical precision. However, as more and more ancient Greek manuscripts are discovered (and as more careful research is done), we find that Greek is no more precise than most other languages. Many times people use words in ways that are not technically correct, and strict definitions of words are not always honored.

The distinctions between the different kinds of love do not completely hold up within the New Testament itself. Jesus says in Luke 6:32, “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them.” Here, the word translated “love” is agape throughout the verse. How can sinners show God’s love for each other? Jesus’ point is that the kind of love sinners show for each other is not the selfless, sacrificial love that Christians are called to display. In Luke 7:5, the centurion is described as one who loves the nation of Israel—once again agape is the love mentioned here.

Most words can have a range of meaning, but the specific meaning of any word must be determined from the context. English speakers use the word love in a variety of ways from “I love ice cream” to “I love my wife” and many other things in between. No one gets confused by this because we understand what kind of love is meant from the context. When agape is used in the New Testament, it is usually in conjunction with some other words to give clarity as to the kind of love intended. Much of the time, agape is modified by the phrase tou theou (“of God”). The godly quality of agape is found in the modifying phrase, not just in the word itself. The revolutionary nature of love in 1 Corinthians 13 is found in the description of it there, not in the word itself. The type of love in view will always be clarified by the context.

Christianity introduced a new kind of love to the world, but Christians used words already in existence to explain the quality of this love. Love was communicated primarily by their self-sacrifice in imitation of Christ, not by the word agape.

In John 13:34 Jesus taught, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Then He added, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (verse 35). How do we do this? What does it mean to love one another?

The “one another” in these verses is a reference to fellow believers. A distinguishing mark of being a follower of Christ is a deep, sincere love for brothers and sisters in Christ. The apostle John reminds us of this fact elsewhere: “He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” (1 John 4:21).

In giving this command, Jesus did something the world had never seen before—He created a group identified by one thing: love. There are many groups in the world, and they identify themselves in any number of ways: by skin color, by uniform, by shared interest, by alma mater, etc. One group has tattoos and piercings; another group abstains from meat; yet another group wears fezzes—the ways people categorize themselves are endless. But the church is unique. For the first and only time in history, Jesus created a group whose identifying factor is love. Skin color doesn’t matter. Native language doesn’t matter. There are no rules about diet or uniforms or wearing funny hats. Followers of Christ are identified by their love for each other.

The early church demonstrated the type of love Jesus was talking about. There were people in Jerusalem from all over the known world (Acts 2:9–11). Those who were saved got together and immediately began meeting each other’s needs: “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need” (Acts 2:44–45). This was love in action, and you can be sure it made an impression on the people of that city.

Jesus’ statements in John 13:34–35 raise a couple of other questions that may be good to answer. First, how does Jesus love? He loves unconditionally (Romans 5:8), sacrificially (2 Corinthians 5:21), with forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32), and eternally (Romans 8:38–39). At the same time, Jesus’ love is holy—characterized by transcendent moral purity—because He is holy (Hebrews 7:26). The culmination of Christ’s amazing love for us is His death on the cross, burial, and bodily resurrection (1 John 4:9–10). Believers are to love each other like that.

Second, how then can the believer in Christ love as Christ loved? The believer in Christ has the Holy Spirit living within him (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). By obeying the Spirit, through the Word of God, the believer can love like Christ does. He shows that unconditional, sacrificial, forgiving love to fellow believers, but it doesn’t stop there. He also shows the love of Christ to friends, to family members, to coworkers, etc. (Ephesians 5:18–6:4; Galatians 5:16, 22–23). Even enemies are the recipients of Christ’s love (see Matthew 5:43–48).

Christ’s love displayed through the believer is unlike the “love” generated by the flesh, which can be selfish, egotistical, unforgiving, and insincere. First Corinthians 13:4–8 gives a wonderful description of what Christ’s love will be like in and through the believer who walks in the Spirit.

People don’t naturally love with a 1 Corinthians 13-type love. To love like that, there must be a change of heart. A person must realize that he is a sinner before God and understand that Christ died on the cross and rose again to provide him forgiveness; then he must make the decision to accept Christ as his personal Savior. At that point he is forgiven by Christ and receives God’s gift of eternal life—in fact, he becomes a participant in the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). In Christ he knows that he is genuinely loved by God. The new life the believer receives includes a new capacity to love like Christ loves, for the believer now has living within him the unconditional, sacrificial, forgiving, eternal, and holy love of God (Romans 5:5).

To love one another is to love fellow believers as Christ loves us. Those who love like Christ in the Holy Spirit’s power will give evidence that they are disciples, or learners, of Jesus Christ.

Daardie opmerking het my laat dink aan die verband tussen liefde en kennis. Indien ons lief is vir iets, wil ons alles daarvan weet. Indien ons van ń plek hou, wil ons dit graag beter leer ken. Indien ons iemand liefhet, wil ons alles van hom of haar weet. Ons wil weet waarvoor hulle lief is, hoe hulle hulle tyd spandeer, waar hy of sy groot geword het, wie hulle vriende is en wat hulle glo. Die lys is eindeloos. Maar sommige van ons wil hê ander moet lief wees vir ons alhoewel ons nie bereid is dat hulle ons waarlik leer ken nie. Ons is bang as hulle alles van ons weet, sal hulle ons nie meer liefhê nie.
Ons hoef nie daarvoor bang te wees nie, sover dit God aanbetref nie. Sy liefde is veel groter as on s’n. “God bewys sy liefde vir ons juis hiervan dat Christus vir ons gesterf het toe ons nog sondaars was ( Rom 5:8 ). Boonop maak Hy Homself op besondere wyses aan ons bekend. Deur die Woord en deur Christus, toon God sy karakter en sy liefde. Omdat Hy ons liefhet, ten spyte van ons tekortkomminge, kan ons met gerustheid ons foute teenoor Hom bely. Ons hoef nie bang te wees dat God ons ken nie. Daarom beteken om God te ken, dat ons Hom liefhet.

Wees stil en weet, Hy is die Heer
Al is die paaie steil en rof.
Nie wat Hy gee maar wat Hy is,
Is vir ons altyd genoeg.

Daar is geen groter liefde as om te weet dat God ons liefhet nie.



To Know Is To Love:

In a short story written by Jonathan Safran Foer, one of the characters, referring to New York’s Empire State Building, says the following, “I know this building because I love this building.”
That remark made me think of the connection between love and knowledge. If we love something, we want to know everything about it. If we love a place, we want to get to know it better. If we love someone, we want to know everything about them. We want to know what they like, how they spend their time, where they grew up, who their friends are, and what they believe. The list is endless. But some of us want others to love us even though we are not willing for them to truly get to know us. We are afraid that if they knew everything about us, they would stop loving us.
We need not fear that, as far as God is concerned. His love is far greater than ours. “God proves his love for us by the fact that Christ died for us while we were yet sinners ( Rom 5:8 ). Moreover, He makes Himself known to us in special ways. Through the Word and through Christ, God shows His character and His love. Because He loves us, despite our shortcomings, we can confidently confess our mistakes to Him. We need not be afraid that God knows us. Therefore, knowing God means that we love Him.

Be still and know, He is the Lord
Though the paths are steep and rough.
Not what He gives but what He is,
Is always enough for us.

There is no greater love than to know that God loves us.

Trump Tells Netanyahu: No Annexation of Judea and Samaria

In a decisive declaration that has sent shockwaves through Israeli political circles, U.S. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will not allow Israel to annex Judea and Samaria, compromising Israel’s security concerns and rewarding Hamas.

In a decisive declaration that has sent shockwaves through Israeli political circles, U.S. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he will not allow Israel to annex Judea and Samaria, compromising Israel’s security concerns and rewarding Hamas.

“I will not allow Israel to annex [Judea and Samaria]. It’s not going to happen,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, emphasizing that he had already conveyed this message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “There’s been enough. It’s time to stop now.”

The president’s public statement followed private assurances he made to Arab and Muslim leaders during a multilateral meeting on Tuesday at the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. According to six sources familiar with the discussion, Trump was firm on the topic, promising that Israel would not be allowed to absorb the territories currently governed by the Palestinian Authority.

Trump’s announcement comes as several Western allies, including France, Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal, recognized a Palestinian state, partly to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution. Israel has condemned these moves, with Netanyahu expected to deliver sharp criticism of these countries, particularly France, during his UN General Assembly address on Friday.

The two-state solution would create an unprecedented militarized Palestinian entity within Israel’s borders that has been ethnically cleansed of Jews and with its exclusively Muslim capital in Jerusalem. This is based on the catastrophic failure of the Oslo Accords and the land-for-peace process that created a terrorist state in Gaza. When President Obama called for Israel to return to the pre-1967 borders, Netanyahu responded that they were “indefensible”. Indeed, before the victory in the Six-Day War, Israel was only nine miles wide.

Despite Trump’s opposition, the Netanyahu government has already implemented numerous measures that extend and solidify Israel’s de facto control over Judea and Samaria. Under Netanyahu’s leadership, Israel has significantly expanded Jewish communities throughout the Biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria, creating facts on the ground that strengthen Israel’s security. New construction approvals and the establishment of outposts have accelerated in recent years.

Israel has tightened its security operations across Judea and Samaria, establishing additional checkpoints, military installations, and surveillance systems that effectively demonstrate Israeli sovereignty over the area. This is in response to a rise in deadly terrorism that preceded the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas.

666 Mark of the Beast Closer than we Think

A founder of OpenAI—the company behind ChatGPT—has developed a program designed to register users with a global digital identifier. World ID is meant to give every person his or her own unique digital identity that distinguishes individuals from each other and from AI. It purports to do this by scanning the user’s iris on a biometric verification device called the Orb and developing a numerical code based on the eye’s image. The image file of the iris can be deleted, and only the code will remain. The iris scan is required to make an account with World ID, but it is not connected digitally to any personal information. It is designed to ensure people can only create a single account; once scanned, a person’s eyes cannot be used to create another ID. The user chooses whether the image of their iris is deleted or stored and used for research.

World ID is connected to Worldcoin, a digital currency. Everyone who registers for a World ID through the Orb will receive one Worldcoin token based on Ethereum. Users can create an account and trade in Worldcoin without scanning their irises, but they will not receive a free token or receive a World ID. In addition to giving a free token now, World ID will attempt to make the global digital economy more equitable for all users around the world. How they would do this is unknown other than ensuring people cannot have more than one World ID.

Is World ID the mark of the beast?

No not yet, World ID is not yet, the prophesied mark of the beast, and Worldcoin is not yet, the prophesied global currency. The mark of the beast cannot exist until the Antichrist aka the Jewish Messiah is revealed. The mark is specifically an indication that the person worships the beast, and that will not happen until the second half of the tribulation (see Revelation 13). The mark of the beast cannot exist yet (But that does not stop them to generate the tools ) because the beast has not taken power yet.

Will this technology contribute to the development of the mark of the beast?

Yes it will . It is reasonable to speculate that the mark of the beast will include some kind of unique identifier. However, it will also include a mark: something that is added to the human body on the forehead or right hand (Revelation 13:16–17). It is not merely something about the body that is recorded.

Should Christians avoid World ID and Worldcoin to delay the development of the mark of the beast?

The Bible clearly explains that the timing of the return of Jesus is determined by the will of God the Father alone (Acts 1:6–7). We cannot know, delay, or hasten Jesus’ coming. Christians have to follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit on avoiding or using the World ID or Worldcoin for spiritual purposes. It is not a sin to use, develop, or promote technology that may eventually will be used by the Antichrist. But to become part of it is a different ballgame.

Should Christians use World ID and Worldcoin?

That is a matter of discernment. Despite developers’ best intentions, digital information is always vulnerable. As of this writing, it appears the iris scans used to train the system have not been deleted, and the methods used to acquire them were not entirely ethical. Landing in the Wrong hands . it will be the Mark of the Beast by the Next day. The Bible says nothing specific about a global identifier or digital currency. On the other hand, anyone who has taken a DNA heritage test has already made biometric data available to a corporation and theoretically vulnerable to digital theft.

In Sweden, technology is literally getting under people’s skin.

More than 4,000 Swedes have opted to implant tiny microchips—about the size of a grain of rice—beneath their skin to streamline everyday tasks.

With a quick wave of the hand, users can unlock doors, check into the gym, access rail tickets, or even share LinkedIn profiles at networking events. The chips, developed primarily by Biohax International, are passive RFID devices requiring no internal power source, making them both durable and discreet.

This growing “body hacking” trend is fueled by Sweden’s tech-forward culture and its shift toward a cashless, digital society. With widespread trust in institutions and a pragmatic attitude toward innovation, Swedes are embracing these implants as convenient tools rather than privacy threats.

But some experts are sounding alarms about long-term data security and health data use. Still, for many early adopters, the appeal of replacing keys, cards, and passwords with a wave of the hand is simply too compelling to ignore.


South Africans saying goodbye to bank cards

The recent financial results of three major banks suggest that South Africans are increasingly adopting digital wallets and virtual cards, reducing reliance on physical cards for payments.

Digital wallets include apps like Apple Wallet, Garmin Pay, Google Wallet, Samsung Wallet, and SwatchPay.

These apps enable users to link their physical or virtual bank cards to make in-person payments with contactless-enabled smartphones and smartwatches.

Instead of tapping or swiping their card, they can hold their device to any payment terminal that supports contactless payments to perform a transaction.

In addition to being a convenient way to pay, digital wallets offer additional security by requiring users to authenticate themselves with biometrics, a PIN, a pattern, or a passcode.

Many banks allow contactless card payments without entering a PIN up to a certain amount, typically R500.

If a thief gets their hand on a client’s card, they can make numerous transactions below that value until the owner blocks their card or the daily limit is reached.

This additional protection is one reason that banks are actively encouraging their customers to embrace digital wallets. Apart from TymeBank, all the country’s major banks have rolled out support for digital wallets.

In the early days, the technology was not as openly accessible as the near-field communications (NFC) chips required on the devices were primarily available on high-end smartphones and smartwatches.

Over time, NFC support filtered down to budget smartphones. In 2022, the arrival of Google Wallet in South Africa also made many more devices eligible for digital wallet usage.

That was the same year that South Africa’s largest bank by customers — Capitec — first rolled out digital wallet support.

Despite many Capitec customers still using cash, the technology has seen rapid uptake at the bank in recent times.

In its 2025 financial year, Capitec recorded a 159% increase in digital wallet transactions, which reached 167 million.

Digital wallet values also increased 161%, climbing from R13.1 billion to R34.2 billion. In addition, Capitec customers using digital wallets also increased by 103% to around one million.

Older adopters still seeing strong traction

Capitec’s substantial digital wallet surge can be partially attributed to the fact that it is coming off a lower base.

Absa, Discovery Bank, FNB, Nedbank, and Standard Bank launched digital wallet support several years before Capitec.

Even so, several of these banks have continued to see substantial growth in the payment method.

That includes FNB, which recently reported a 45% increase in digital wallet transaction volumes in its 2025 financial year.

The bank also reported a 68% increase in virtual card transaction values, which already accounted for 11.5% of all card spend at FNB in 2024.

Nedbank also recorded 61% growth in digital contactless payment volumes, which included digital wallets, in the first half of its 2025 financial year.

Discovery Bank recently also said that over 60% of its customers preferred to pay with digital wallets instead of physical cards.

The trends correlate with findings in Stitch’s 2025 State of Consumer Payments in South Africa report, which surveyed 2,000 South Africans and found 90% had tried or used payment methods other than cash or card.

Less than 30% of respondents in the survey said they did not use any digital wallets for payments in the past year.

According to the IDF, more than 550,000 civilians have so far evacuated south from Gaza City, while the 162nd, 98th and 36th divisions have begun operating in Hamas strongholds.

The Israel Defense Forces is advancing into Gaza City, targeting Hamas’s main stronghold, with troops engaged in combat against terrorists both above and below ground, IDF Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said on Sunday.

“Hamas has shown the world its true strategy: to exploit its own people and prolong this war,” said Defrin.

“Our forces are working day and night, turning over every stone, to bring our hostages home, dismantle Hamas’s terror networks, and secure a safer region for all,” he added.

Over the past week, Hamas had demonstrated its tactics by firing on a U.N. team, using stolen United Nations vehicles to obstruct the building of a new road for aid deliveries and robbing four UNICEF trucks at gunpoint, depriving thousands of infants of baby formula, said Defrin.

Hamas continues to block civilians from leaving combat zones, choosing to sacrifice Gaza’s residents rather than protecting them, he added.


Lawmakers urge Trump admin to block Turkey from acquiring advanced US fighter jets

A bipartisan group of lawmakers is urging the Trump administration to halt any plans to advance negotiations with Turkey, a NATO ally, over acquiring advanced US fighter jets, warning that doing so without congressional approval would violate federal law and undermine national security.

The message came as Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan met with US President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss a range of issues, including the potential sale of F-35s to Ankara.

In a letter sent on Thursday to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, 20 members of the US Congress raised alarm bells over reports that the administration is exploring “a major F-16 deal” with Ankara and seeking to “conclude positively” ongoing talks about the F-35 program.

In August, a bipartisan group of 40 lawmakers requested that Rubio prevent Turkey from joining the F-35 program.
