Prayer Tips

Prayers in the Old Testament

Isaac prayed to God, for fruitfulness of his wife, and God answered in multiplication.
Gen 25:21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
Prayer brings answers from God in multitude. More than we can dream of God blesses in abundance.

Help my asseblief met my geloof, God, ek bid dit in Jesus se naam, Amen en Amen.

Gebed Wenke

Bible Teaching of the Day

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

In John 13:34 Jesus taught, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Then He added, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (verse 35). How do we do this? What does it mean to love one another?

The “one another” in these verses is a reference to fellow believers. A distinguishing mark of being a follower of Christ is a deep, sincere love for brothers and sisters in Christ. The apostle John reminds us of this fact elsewhere: “He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” (1 John 4:21).

In giving this command, Jesus did something the world had never seen before—He created a group identified by one thing: love. There are many groups in the world, and they identify themselves in any number of ways: by skin color, by uniform, by shared interest, by alma mater, etc. One group has tattoos and piercings; another group abstains from meat; yet another group wears fezzes—the ways people categorize themselves are endless. But the church is unique. For the first and only time in history, Jesus created a group whose identifying factor is love. Skin color doesn’t matter. Native language doesn’t matter. There are no rules about diet or uniforms or wearing funny hats. Followers of Christ are identified by their love for each other.

The early church demonstrated the type of love Jesus was talking about. There were people in Jerusalem from all over the known world (Acts 2:9–11). Those who were saved got together and immediately began meeting each other’s needs: “All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need” (Acts 2:44–45). This was love in action, and you can be sure it made an impression on the people of that city.

Jesus’ statements in John 13:34–35 raise a couple of other questions that may be good to answer. First, how does Jesus love? He loves unconditionally (Romans 5:8), sacrificially (2 Corinthians 5:21), with forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32), and eternally (Romans 8:38–39). At the same time, Jesus’ love is holy—characterized by transcendent moral purity—because He is holy (Hebrews 7:26). The culmination of Christ’s amazing love for us is His death on the cross, burial, and bodily resurrection (1 John 4:9–10). Believers are to love each other like that.

Second, how then can the believer in Christ love as Christ loved? The believer in Christ has the Holy Spirit living within him (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). By obeying the Spirit, through the Word of God, the believer can love like Christ does. He shows that unconditional, sacrificial, forgiving love to fellow believers, but it doesn’t stop there. He also shows the love of Christ to friends, to family members, to coworkers, etc. (Ephesians 5:18–6:4; Galatians 5:16, 22–23). Even enemies are the recipients of Christ’s love (see Matthew 5:43–48).

Christ’s love displayed through the believer is unlike the “love” generated by the flesh, which can be selfish, egotistical, unforgiving, and insincere. First Corinthians 13:4–8 gives a wonderful description of what Christ’s love will be like in and through the believer who walks in the Spirit.

People don’t naturally love with a 1 Corinthians 13-type love. To love like that, there must be a change of heart. A person must realize that he is a sinner before God and understand that Christ died on the cross and rose again to provide him forgiveness; then he must make the decision to accept Christ as his personal Savior. At that point he is forgiven by Christ and receives God’s gift of eternal life—in fact, he becomes a participant in the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). In Christ he knows that he is genuinely loved by God. The new life the believer receives includes a new capacity to love like Christ loves, for the believer now has living within him the unconditional, sacrificial, forgiving, eternal, and holy love of God (Romans 5:5).

To love one another is to love fellow believers as Christ loves us. Those who love like Christ in the Holy Spirit’s power will give evidence that they are disciples, or learners, of Jesus Christ.

Bybel Lering vir die Dag

“’n Nuwe gebod gee Ek julle: Julle moet mekaar liefhê.

Toe het Hy bygevoeg: “As julle mekaar liefhet, sal almal weet dat julle my dissipels is” (vers 35).

Gelowiges moet mekaar so liefhê.

Today’s Devotional

“God loves you”

“Would God have given His Son to die and would Jesus have given His life if He did not love you?”

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and everything on them. It must have been when God separated the waters and the land that He formed a small hill, which would later be called Golgotha. One day, God also made a tree, which would grow and bear seeds and which would eventually produce the tree on which Jesus was crucified. Then later, only on the sixth day, God makes man. This tells me something about God, about His purpose, that He knew us and thought about us before we existed. Even before God made man, He knew that man would fail and fall into sin. However, God planned our redemption and salvation, even before we were born or sinned. He provided for our needs and wants, even before we were called into existence. He brought about healing and wholeness, before we became sick. Yes, God knew us, even before we were, before we were.

We still sometimes feel unloved, still at times it feels as if God doesn’t care. But it wasn’t just God who loved us. Jesus loves you and me too – even before we were born. Jesus was willing to lay down His life for you and me, to save, redeem, free and heal us even before we were formed in our mother’s womb. (John 15:13) Because Jesus loved us, He was willing to die for us, already 2000 years ago. Dottie Rambo wrote:

He left the splendor of heaven
Knowing His destiny
Was the lonely hill of Golgotha
There to lay down His life for me

If that isn’t Love, the ocean is dry
There’s no stars in the sky
And the sparrow can’t fly
If that isn’t Love, then heaven’s a myth
There’s no feeling like this, if that isn’t love

GOD LOVES YOU. JESUS LOVES YOU! If you have trouble believing that, it will also be difficult to believe that God made the World and man and that He knew you before you were called into existence. It will also be difficult to believe that God cares for you, and wants to take action for you. It will be almost impossible to trust God to save, deliver, heal and provide.

How can we forget Calvary? How can we forget the cross? How can we forget that God loves us? Man, we may not have everything we want. We may not possess everything we desire. We may not have received everything we wished for. But God loves us, Jesus loves us and at the right time, at the appointed and anointed time God will provide. Then we will joyfully experience the fullness of God’s love and grace. If we will only accept God’s love, if we only accept Jesus, if we are only willing to walk the path with Him, pressing on with joy then we will realize how great God’s love was for us, even before we were born.

He left the splendor of heaven
Knowing His destiny
Was the lonely hill of Golgotha
There to lay down His life for me

If that isn’t Love, the ocean is dry
There’s no stars in the sky
And the sparrow can’t fly
If that isn’t Love, then heaven’s a myth
There’s no feeling like this, if that isn’t love

INTRODUCTION TO THE GOSPEL ARTISTS

MEET : Kim Collingsworth

The Collingsworth Family is a Southern Gospel/Inspirational group started by Phil and Kim Collingsworth and features their family as the group. They are currently signed to gospel label Gaither Music Group. Phil and Kim have four Children (Brooklyn Rose), (Courtney Noel), (Phillip Jr.), and (Olivia Diane).

History
Phil and Kim both came from a Christian upbringing. They met in high school and married upon graduating high school. Kim recalls, “We had our first date when I was 16, and he was 21. Poor guy, he had to wait on me to grow up. We were so in love and really wanted to get married. So, I decided to cram four years of high school into three so I could graduate from high school in 1986. The same year he would graduate from college. That plan worked well.”

Ministry
Phil and Kim Collingsworth started in the music ministry when they were musicians at a church camp in Petersburg, Michigan, in August 1986. The two performed as a duo for 14 years, balancing gigs with raising children and Phil’s job at a life insurance agency. In 2000, they made the decision to tour full time. That’s also when their children — 10, 9, 6 and 2 at the time — became permanent members of the act.

Phil and Kim have provided music presentations for church camps and extended-length revival campaigns. They have also held the positions of Minister of Music at Hobe Sound Bible Church in Hobe Sound, FL, and Director of the Music Division at Union Bible College and Seminary in Westfield, Indiana. Phil was Dean of Enrollment Management at his alma mater, God’s Bible School and College, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Career
The Collingsworths signed with Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing in 2003. In 2009, the Collingsworth Family signed with then new Christian label Stowtown Records.

In 2014, The Collingsworth Family recorded two live projects in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Majestic, a live CD and DVD from piano performer Kim Collingsworth and friends stemmed from a show in Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium with a crowd of more than 2,300 over a 5-hour concert. A DVD, We Will Serve the Lord, was released in October, 2014.

In 2018, they released their album Mercy and Love, a collection of covers and new songs.

The group’s influence extends beyond the United States. In 2003, they performed in Kosovo, where more than 6,500 U.S. Army personnel heard their Christmas concerts at two military bases. In 2004, they gave a concert in the Cayman Islands.

Recognition
The Collingsworth Family received the 2007 Harmony Award in the New Artist of the Year category from the Southern Gospel Music Guild. Their album The Best of The Collingsworth Family – Volume 1 was nominated for Best Roots Gospel Album in the 2018 Grammy Awards.

Bible Prophecy in the News

Industry Insider Explains Why The Coming Shortages Are Going To Be So Crazy

Container bookings are absolutely plummeting, and retail CEO’s are warning that store shelves all over America will “soon be empty”. In many cases, things that are made in China are not made anywhere else. As retailers run through existing inventory levels, shortages will begin to emerge.

The United States imported 438 billion dollars worth of goods from China in 2024.  All of a sudden, most of that trade is being cut off.  Tariffs on Chinese goods are now so high that it no longer makes economic sense for Chinese companies to export products to us, and it no longer makes economic sense for U.S. companies to import products from China.

As a result, container bookings are absolutely plummeting, and retail CEOs are warning that store shelves all over America will “soon be empty”.  Yes, retailers will attempt to find replacement items from other sources when it is possible to do so.  But in many cases, things that are made in China are not made anywhere else.  As retailers run through existing inventory levels, shortages will begin to emerge.

I do not believe that we should have ever started trading with China.

And I would love to see a day in the future when we no longer trade with China.

But at this moment we are deeply, deeply dependent on China.

Nobody can deny this.

Our economy literally cannot function normally without Chinese imports, and now most of those imports will no longer be coming across the ocean.

Most Chinese imports fall into these 10 categories…

Electrical machinery and TV parts: $124.97 billion, 28% of total imports from China

Nuclear reactor parts and mechanical appliances: $82 billion, 18% of total imports from China

Toys, games and sports equipment: $30.03 billion, 7% of imports from China

Plastics: $19.29 billion, 4% of total imports from China

Furniture, lamps and pre-fabricated buildings: $18.52, 4% of total imports from China

Vehicles: $16.85 billion, 4% of total imports from China

Iron and steel: $11.98 billion, 3% of total imports from China

Optical and photographic parts: $11.88 billion, 3% of total imports from China

Clothing: $9.99 billion, 2% of total imports from China

Shoes: $9.78 billion, 2% of total imports from China

Did you know that China makes 80 percent of our toys?

If you are going to need toys later this year, you may want to stock up now.

It is being reported that container bookings from China to the United States have already “plummeted by over 60% in just three weeks”…

Container shipping between China and the United States faces unprecedented disruption following the implementation of new Trump administration tariffs on U.S. imports from China, with industry leaders warning of potential widespread supply chain impacts and economic consequences that could rival the pandemic.

According to Ryan Peterson, Founder and CEO of Flexport, ocean container bookings from China to the United States have plummeted by over 60% in just three weeks since the new tariffs took effect. The dramatic decline follows the introduction of reciprocal tariffs that went into effect on April 9, setting rates at 145% for China and 10% for all other origin points.

Today, I would like to share some insights from an industry insider.

Molson Hart is the founder and president of an educational toy company called Viahart.  He just posted an analysis of what we are facing that is so good that I decided to share his entire Twitter post in this article…

The White House has put itself and the country in a bad situation but doesn’t realize it yet.

Around April 10th China to USA trade shut down.

It takes ~30 days for containers to go from China to LA.

45 to Houston by sea, 45 to Chicago by train.

55 to New York by sea.

That means that there are no economic effects of what was done on April 10th until about May 10th.

Around that time (it’s already started to happen) trucking work is going to dry up. Warehouses will start doing layoffs because no labor is needed to unload containers and some products will be out of stock, reducing the need for shipping labor.

All this will start in the Los Angeles area.

After about 2 weeks, it’ll start hitting Chicago and Houston.

Let’s say the White House, after 3 weeks, changes its mind, on May 31st.

“This isn’t working out like we thought it would. Tariffs back to 0.”

Let’s say China says “bygones be bygones, we’ll go back to how things were”.

Let’s say every factory in China that got screwed by their orders being cancelled says the same thing “no problem, we’ll make and ship”.

The problem is, even under the most favorable conditions of China and the factories restarting economic ties as though nothing happened, it will be at least another 30 days before economic activity is revived.

And that’s just in LA.

In Chicago/Houston, you’ll need to wait another 45 days.

New York, at that point, will still be getting containers from before April 10th, they will then have 50 days (May 31 minus April 10) of zero economic activity at the ports, in trucking of Chinese goods, in warehousing.

The whole situation is a bit like lockdowns. Once you shut down, it takes a long time to get economic activity back to where it was, if you ever can.

And again, this assumes, that China and its factories, which make things you can’t buy elsewhere, will start right back up again as though nothing happened, which is unlikely.

It’s almost like we’re speeding towards a brick wall but the driver of the car doesn’t see it yet.

By the time he does, it’ll be too late to hit the brakes.

I could not have said it better myself.

When we finally hit that brick wall, millions of people are going to be extremely angry.

Many are suggesting that we should just start making stuff here, and I agree with that.

But the reality of the matter is that it takes a long time to construct new factories.

In a subsequent post on Twitter, Molson Hart commented on this…

Lego is building a factory in the United States.

They began looking for a location in 2021.

They originally expected to start production in the second half of 2025.

They are now forecasting 2027.

The biggest toy company in the world needed 6 years to make in America.

We can’t wait for years until new factories are built, because we are going to be in the middle of a full-blown crisis just months from now.

For example, what are you going to do if you need to get your vehicle repaired and the parts that you need have tripled in price or are no longer available at all?…

“From brake pads and batteries to bumpers and sensors, many of the parts used to repair and maintain vehicles are imported,” Cars.com editor-in-chief Jenni Newman told FOX Business. “If those parts are hit with tariffs, suppliers are expected to pass on the extra cost to repair shops and dealership service departments.”

Not only would this drive up repair bills for consumers, but it could also cause longer wait times if parts become harder to get or inventory is scaled back, Newman said.

There are thousands upon thousands of supply chains that will be disrupted by ultra-high tariffs on Chinese imports.

Unless we want to have a full-blown meltdown, we need to reach a deal with China.

We should have never allowed ourselves to become so dependent on China.

Sometimes I feel like tearing my hair out, because decades of very foolish decisions have put us into this position.

Now we desperately need Chinese imports, but most of them won’t be coming to us for the foreseeable future, and President Trump just told Glenn Beck that he feels like he is holding all the cards and doesn’t need to negotiate…

‘I don’t have to negotiate. I don’t have to negotiate. I’m talking to people out of respect, but I don’t have to,’ Trump told the former Fox News host.

‘So we’re this giant store that people want to come in and buy from, we’re the United States. We have the richest consumers, etcetera, etcetera, right?’ the president continued.

Trump said he was currently negotiating with ’70 different countries.’

‘We’re negotiating, we’re showing great respect, but in the end, we may make deals, but either that or I just set a price and I say “here’s what you’re going to pay for the privilege of servicing the United States of America,”‘ Trump said.

There are some people out there that are insisting that I am overstating the seriousness of the crisis that we are facing.

Okay, let’s see what happens.

If a deal with China can be reached quickly, it is quite likely that the damage will be minimized.

I would be thrilled if that actually happens.

But if a deal with China cannot be reached quickly, we are going to experience a tremendous amount of pain.

Container traffic across the Pacific Ocean has already fallen dramatically, and the clock is ticking…

Smarter Wars: How Israel’s AI Innovations Are Crushing Terror Networks

This is the future of warfare: speed, precision, and overwhelming tactical advantage delivered by AI-powered decision-making. Israel’s enemies are learning — painfully — that slow, analog-era strategies stand no chance against digitally-enhanced, AI-driven forces.

In a remarkable fusion of military discipline and technological brilliance, Israel has rewritten the rules of modern warfare in Gaza — and the world is taking notice. Driven by the need for speed, precision, and overwhelming results, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have deployed artificial intelligence (AI) across the battlefield like no military before it, delivering devastating efficiency against entrenched terrorist networks.

The cooperation between active-duty intelligence soldiers and reservists from Israel’s world-leading tech sector has unleashed a wave of military innovation that is rapidly changing how wars are fought — and won.

1. Real-Time Public Sentiment Tracking

At the heart of Israel’s AI arsenal is a chatbot, trained across multiple Arabic dialects, capable of absorbing and analyzing enormous volumes of civilian communications from within Gaza. This system has allowed the IDF to stay ahead of public shifts, anticipate unrest, and adjust operations in real time. When Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah was eliminated in a precision strike, it was AI analysis that confirmed — within hours — that regional appetite for retaliation was minimal. Such real-time strategic intelligence would have been unthinkable just a few years ago.

2. Targeting by Sound: AI-Driven Audio Warfare

Precision warfare demands more than sight — it demands the ability to hear. Israel’s AI-driven audio analysis programs identify and triangulate battlefield sounds with pinpoint accuracy: tunnel drilling, rocket launches, and underground movements are now detectable signatures. In the hunt for Hamas commander Ibrahim Biari, AI audio tools tracked conversations to a fortified tunnel complex under Jabalia, allowing Israeli forces to act decisively and eliminate a high-value target with stunning speed.

3. Facial Recognition at the Tactical Edge

The battlefield does not forgive mistakes, and Israel’s facial recognition AI has become a force multiplier in identifying enemy operatives and recovering hostages. High-resolution imaging combined with AI-enhanced identification has allowed the IDF to track individuals even after injuries or deliberate disguise attempts. This capability closes critical gaps in intelligence and transforms the pace of hostage rescues and militant apprehensions.

4. Lavender: Accelerated Targeting Intelligence

Lavender, an internal program designed to sift through vast human intelligence networks, has dramatically accelerated the IDF’s ability to isolate threats. Rather than replacing human judgment, AI filters and cross-references intelligence inputs — enabling commanders to act with unprecedented speed and accuracy. This system is not about mass lists or indiscriminate targeting; it is about streamlining the kill chain to strike the right targets at the right time.

5. Virtual Reality for Urban Combat Mastery

Anticipating the demands of complex urban warfare, Israel has also deployed AI-enhanced virtual reality simulators that model battlefield conditions in Gaza. Soldiers are no longer entering the unknown — they train inside high-fidelity digital twins of the environments they will later dominate. This preparation has saved lives, shortened engagements, and minimized strategic surprises.

A New Era of Warfare: Speed, Precision, and Decisive Results

What Israel has demonstrated in Gaza is not simply the use of new tools — it is a total restructuring of how wars are conceived and executed. Intelligence cycles that once took days now take minutes. Targeting processes that once risked uncertainty are now locked in with mathematical confidence.

This is the future of warfare: speed, precision, and overwhelming tactical advantage delivered by AI-powered decision-making. Israel’s enemies are learning — painfully — that slow, analog-era strategies stand no chance against digitally-enhanced, AI-driven forces.

The Coming Challenge: When the Technology Spreads

But while Israel currently leads in this AI battlefield revolution, the monopoly on such technology will not last forever. Terror organizations, rogue regimes, and criminal networks are already seeking ways to replicate, steal, or mutate these capabilities for their own ends.

Unlike nuclear weapons — which require massive infrastructure to build — AI warfare tools can be copied, sold, and adapted with frightening ease once the foundational models become public or leaked. It is not a question of if AI-enhanced warfare will spread; it is only a question of when and to whom.

Israel’s achievements offer a glimpse into the future of conflict — but they also issue a stark warning: the precision and power AI brings to the battlefield today could, in the wrong hands, usher in a far deadlier, less controllable era tomorrow.

As always, Israel remains prepared — forging the technologies of tomorrow, and the defenses to meet them — with the clarity that in war, as in peace, victory belongs to those who adapt first.

Marah – Bitter Waters, Sweet Transformation

The desert sun beat down mercilessly as the Israelite’s arrived at Marah, their throats parched after three days without water.

Num 33:8 And they departed from before Pihahiroth, and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness, and went three days’ journey in the wilderness of Etham, and pitched in Marah.

Exo 15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.

Num 33:9 And they removed from Marah, and came unto Elim: and in Elim were twelve fountains of water, and threescore and ten palm trees; and they pitched there.

In the story of the Exodus, Elim was a place where the Israelites camped after leaving Marah, described in Exodus 15:27 as having “twelve springs of water and seventy date palms”. This oasis provided much-needed rest and refreshment for the weary travelers. The number twelve, potentially symbolizing the twelve tribes of Israel, and seventy, possibly representing the seventy elders, are considered significant in the Bible

Introduction to the Bible – Bible Summary

Summary of the Book of Isaiah
Author:
Isaiah 1:1 identifies the author of the book of Isaiah as the Prophet Isaiah. Full
article: Who wrote the book of Isaiah? Who was the author of Isaiah?
Date of Writing: The book of Isaiah was written between 739 and 681 B.C.
Purpose of Writing: The Prophet Isaiah was primarily called to prophesy to the
Kingdom of Judah. Judah was going through times of revival and times of rebellion.
Judah was threatened with destruction by Assyria and Egypt, but was spared because of God’s mercy. Isaiah proclaimed a message of repentance from sin and hopeful
expectation of God’s deliverance in the future.
Key Verses:
Isaiah 6:8, “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will be with child
and will give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”
Isaiah 9:6, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting
Father, Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 14:12-13, “How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in
your heart, “I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will
sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred
mountain.”
Isaiah 53:5-6, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we
are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
Isaiah 65:25, “The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like
the ox, but dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my
holy mountain, says the LORD.”
Brief Summary: The book of Isaiah reveals God’s judgment and salvation. God is “holy,
holy, holy” (Isaiah 6:3), and therefore He cannot allow sin to go unpunished (Isaiah
1:2; 2:11-20; 5:30; 34:1-2; 42:25). Isaiah portrays God’s oncoming judgment as a
“consuming fire” (Isaiah 1:31; 30:33).
At the same time, Isaiah understands that God is a God of mercy, grace, and compassion (Isaiah 5:25; 11:16; 14:1-2; 32:2; 40:3; 41:14-16). The nation of Israel (both Judah and Israel) is blind and deaf to God’s commands (Isaiah 6:9-10; 42:7). Judah is compared to a
vineyard that should be, and will be, trampled on (Isaiah 5:1-7). Only because of His
mercy and His promises to Israel, will God not allow Israel or Judah to be completely
destroyed. He will bring restoration, forgiveness, and healing (43:2; 43:16-19; 52:10-12).
More than any other book in the Old Testament, Isaiah focuses on the salvation that will come through the Messiah. The Messiah will one day rule in justice and righteousness (Isaiah 9:7; 32:1). The reign of the Messiah will bring peace and safety to Israel (Isaiah 11:6-9). Through the Messiah, Israel will be a light to all the nations (Isaiah 42:6; 55:4-5).
The Messiah’s kingdom on earth (Isaiah chapters 65-66) is the goal toward which all of
the book of Isaiah points. It is during the reign of the Messiah that God’s righteousness
will be fully revealed to the world.
In a seeming paradox, the book of Isaiah also presents the Messiah as one who will
suffer. Isaiah chapter 53 vividly describes the Messiah suffering for sin. It is through His
wounds that healing is achieved. It is through His suffering that our iniquities are taken
away. This apparent contradiction is solved in the Person of Jesus Christ. In His first
advent, Jesus was the suffering servant of Isaiah chapter 53. In His second advent, Jesus
will be the conquering and ruling King, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
Foreshadowings: As stated above, chapter 53 of Isaiah describes the coming Messiah
and the suffering He would endure in order to pay for our sins. In His sovereignty, God
orchestrated every detail of the crucifixion to fulfill every prophecy of this chapter, as
well as all other messianic prophecies of the Old Testament. The imagery of chapter 53
is poignant and prophetic and contains a complete picture of the Gospel. Jesus was
despised and rejected (v. 3; Luke 13:34; John 1:10-11), stricken by God (v.4; Matthew
27:46), and pierced for our transgressions (v. 5; John 19:34; 1 Peter 2:24). By His
suffering, He paid the punishment we deserved and became for us the ultimate and
perfect sacrifice (v. 5; Hebrews 10:10). Although He was sinless, God laid on Him our sin,
and we became God’s righteousness in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Practical Application: The book of Isaiah presents our Savior to us in undeniable detail.
He is the only way to heaven, the only means of obtaining the grace of God, the only
Way, the only Truth, and the only Life (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Knowing the price Christ
paid for us, how can we neglect or reject “so great a salvation”? (Hebrews 2:3). We have only a few, short years on earth to come to Christ and embrace the salvation only He offers. There is no second chance after death, and eternity in hell is a very long time.
Do you know people who claim to be believers in Christ who are two-faced, who are
hypocrites? That is perhaps the best summary of how Isaiah viewed the nation of Israel.
Israel had an appearance of righteousness, but it was a facade. In the Book of Isaiah, the Prophet Isaiah challenges Israel to obey God with all of their heart, not just on the
outside. Isaiah’s desire was that those who heard and read his words would be convicted to turn from wickedness and turn to God for forgiveness and healing.

Inleiding tot die Bybel – Bybel Samevatting

Opsomming van die boek Jesaja
Skrywer:
Stuur my!’”
In Sy
God te verkry, die enigste Weg, die enigste Waarheid en die enigste Lewe ( Joh. 14:6 ;
Hand. 4:12 ).
huigelaars is?
genesing.
