Hosted by TruLight Ministries – The Place of Truth

While driving down the road a few days ago I saw a motor vehicle standing on a driveway in front of an open garage. While it was a clear and sunny day, I asked myself why the owner chose not to pull the car into the garage.
I also thought of the dangers of leaving the motor vehicle outside. For starters, what will happen if it starts to rain or even when there is hail or wind? Another danger we face is the element of crime. What if someone breaks into the vehicle to steal the owner’s belongings or even to steal the vehicle?
Then I thought of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. In a World of uncertainty, fear and lurking danger, Jesus offers us safety and protection like a garage. He even leaves a door open for us to enter in. Sadly, many risk the chance of pain, injury or even eternal death simply because we choose not to enter the open door set before us.
They are like a chick who is unwilling to take shelter under the hen’s wings. (See Matthew 23:37)
We’re all aware that the enemy is lurking around, wishing and waiting for an opportunity to destroy, break or damage us. (See 1 Peter 5:8) But then, I also see the Lord’s desire to protect us from imminent danger.
Upon reading 2 Samuel 22:2-3 I see that the Lord is our rock, our fortress and deliver. In Him we can take refuge for He is our shield, our stronghold our refuge, and our Savior who will save us.
Also, when I turn to Psalm 3:4-6, I see that we can lie down, sleep and wake up in safety for the Lord is watching over us. We also see that we do not have to fear, even though we are surrounded by thousands of enemies.
Today, we do not have to stand outside, where rain, hail and thieves can damage or destroy us. Jesus is inviting us today to come to Him, to park inside of Him so we can be safe and secure. Let us accept His invitation and join Him so that we too may enjoy His protection.

Bible Teaching of the Day
I have heard so many testimonies of what the Lord did over the last few days and how He revealed Himself in churches and in individuals. In many instances people experience the presence of the Holy Spirit in supernatural ways.
Today, after having experienced Pentecost, I am merely asking, “What now, where do we go from here?”
Please don’t get me wrong, but I have seen too many times how there is a flickering of revival over Pentecost, which simply disappears in the days or weeks thereafter. I have seen too many times that we look back and testify what the Lord has done over Pentecost, just to have the effects of Pentecost fade away like a long-lost memory.
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:25)
I pray that we will not forget what the Lord has done, that we will not forget the lifechanging experiences we had but let us continue to seek more of the same. Let us continue to seek the presence of the Lord, by His sweet Holy Spirit, as we move forward from this time.
But let us also allow God’s Holy Spirit to reveal God the Father, made visible in Jesus Christ to us and those surrounding us. Since we received power from the Holy Spirit, let us boldly be God’s witnesses and speak the word of the Lord to the end of the earth.” (See Acts 1:8 and Acts 4:31)

Today’s Devotional
THE WISDOM OF GOD
As part of the series on the attributes and how we are to respond to it, I briefly want to elude on the wisdom of God. I understand wisdom as the ability to gather, process and apply knowledge gained to your very own or to others lives. However, when discussing wisdom, we must acknowledge God the Father as the only reliable and true source of wisdom. We must also be aware that while on Earth, Jesus showcased the wisdom of Father God imparted to Him.
On God’s wisdom, King Solomon wrote, “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop dew.” (Proverbs 3:19-20)
The Psalmist said, “How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all.” (Psalm 104:24)
Paul said, “Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and untraceable his ways!” (Romans 11:33)
God’s wisdom is infinite. It has no limits or end. It is vast, boundless, or extremely large. Not only was He there when all began, but He will also be there in the everlasting future. Not only does He know where everything began, but He also knows where everything will end.
Another consideration we should have, is that the will of God is directly influenced by the wisdom of God. Because God knows the outcome before we even ask for something, He can decide to grant us our request or not.
But how do we respond to the wisdom of God?
Firstly, we need to acknowledge Jesus as saviour and accept His free gift of Salvation for “Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God” (See 1 Corinthians 1:24)
Secondly, we need to trust God and submit to His wise counsel. Proverbs 3:5-6 states, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Thirdly, we need to allow God to guide us or direct our paths for “With God are wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding.” (Job 12:13)
Lastly, we need to accept God’s will, which stem from His wisdom. We need to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” (See James 4:15)
Let us then approach God the Father, the source of all wisdom, through Jesus Christ and trust Him to direct our lives and to teach and guide us.
(Romeine 11:33)
God se wysheid is nimmereindigend.
(Job 12:13)
(Sien Jakobus 4:15)

INTRODUCTION TO THE GOSPEL ARTISTS
MEET : Gordon Mote

Three-time Academy of Country Music Keyboard/Piano Player of the Year, Gordon Mote serves as a true example of God’s faithfulness. “I am living proof of God’s faithfulness and goodness,” Mote shares. “I am blessed beyond measure and have always tried to follow His lead and walk through doors He chooses to open. It’s been a good plan, and He has never let me down.”
This philosophy has worked well for Mote throughout his life. Blind from birth, the Alabama native’s earliest recollections center around a love for music. “I was passionate about music,” he states. “My music is so eclectic today because I listened to every album I could find.”
Mote’s 15 albums, including his brand new release from New Haven Records, titled Where You Lead Me, are a testament to his love for musical diversity. Each recording has blended Country, Pop and Gospel influences and has earned him multiple Dove and Grammy nominations, including the Best Roots Gospel Album nominations in 2017 and 2019.
By the age of three, Mote began playing piano, singing and traveling with his family. As he began to excel musically, he enjoyed academic success also. He became one of the first blind students in the country to mainstream into the public school system. He received a full scholarship to Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. After three years, at the University, he transferred to Nashville’s famed Belmont University, where he graduated with honors.
Two days after graduation, he accepted a position with the legendary, Lee Greenwood. Greenwood became the first of many entertainers Mote shared the stage with over the next three decades, including Trisha Yearwood, Tanya Tucker, Porter Wagoner, Alabama, Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Josh Turner and The Gaither Vocal Band.
Additionally, Mote established himself as one of the most sought-after studio musicians in Nashville, whose piano artistry and producing abilities can be heard on recordings by the likes of Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Blake Shelton, Martina McBride, Bob Seger, Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, Josh Turner, Darius Rucker, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Martins, Triumphant Quartet and Alison Krauss, just to name a few.
Honors and accolades have flowed his way in bunches, including an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from Jacksonville State University honoring his outstanding contributions to music. Yet the intangibles are what has left an indelible mark on literally millions around the world. Those who have shared the concert stage or recording studio with Mote, or those who have the privilege of calling him friend, clearly recognize his true gifts – his passion for life, his love for his Savior and his commitment to his family. “I am so blessed” Gordon beams. “I have a beautiful wife, Kimberly. I have two wonderful sons, Parker and Ashton, and a precious daughter, Samantha, and a fine son-in-law, Jack. I can’t thank God enough for the blessings He has given me.”
With 15 solo recordings, 21 Academy of Country Music Award nominations, two Grammy nominations, a Gospel Music Association Dove Award, and 30 years of touring, including 20 years as a solo artist, Gordon Mote shows no signs of slowing down, as he continues to blaze new trails and enjoy the faithfulness and goodness of God.

Introduction to the Bible – Bible Summary
Summary of the Book of 2 Peter
Author: 2 Peter 1:1 specifically states that the apostle Peter was the author of 2 Peter.
Peter’s authorship of 2 Peter has been challenged more than that of any other book in
the New Testament. However, the early church fathers found no good reason to reject it.
We find no good reason to reject Peter’s authorship of 2 Peter. Full article: Who wrote
the book of 2 Peter? Who was the author of 2 Peter?
Date of Writing: The Book of 2 Peter was written toward the end of Peter’s life. Since
Peter was martyred in Rome during the reign of Nero, his death must have occurred
prior to A.D. 68. He very likely wrote 2 Peter between A.D. 65 and 68.
Purpose of Writing: Peter was alarmed that false teachers were beginning to infiltrate
the churches. He called on Christians to grow and become strong in their faith so that
they could detect and combat the spreading apostasy. He strongly stressed the
authenticity of the Word of God and the sure return of the Lord Jesus.
Key Verses:
2 Peter 1:3-4, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness
through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through
these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you
may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by
evil desires.”
2 Peter 3:9: “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.
He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to
repentance.”
2 Peter 3:18: But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”
The key word is “knowledge,” with its related words, occurring at least 13 times in the
Book of 2 Peter.
Brief Summary: Knowing that his time was short (2 Peter 1:13-15) and these churches
faced immediate danger (2 Peter 2:1-3), Peter called upon the readers to refresh their
memories (2 Peter 1:13) and stimulate their thinking (2 Peter 3:1-2) so that they would
remember his teaching (2 Peter 1:15). He challenged the believers to become more
mature in their faith by adding to it specific Christians virtues, thereby becoming
effective and productive in their knowledge of Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-9). The Old and
New Testament writers were set forth as their authority for their faith (2 Peter 1:12-
21, 3:2, 3:15-16). Peter desired they become strong in their faith to withstand the false
teachers that had crept in and adversely affected the churches. In his denunciation of
them, he described their conduct, their condemnation, and their characteristics (2 Peter
chapter 2), and also that they ridiculed the Lord’s Second Coming (2 Peter 3:3-7). For the
Christians, Peter taught that the Second Coming is the incentive for holy living (2 Peter
3:14). After a final warning, Peter again encouraged them to grow in the grace and
knowledge of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He concluded with a word of praise to
his Lord and Savior (2 Peter 3:18).
Connections: In his denunciation of false prophets, Peter repeats a prevalent Old
Testament theme that must have been very familiar to his readers. Many of the early
Christians were converted Jews who had been well taught in the law and the prophets.
When Peter referred to the “word of the prophets” of the Old Testament in 2 Peter 1:19-
21, he at one time denounced false prophets and affirmed that true prophets were
moved by the Holy Spirit who spoke through them (2 Samuel 23:2). Jeremiah was
equally forceful in his criticism of false prophets, asking, “How long will this continue in
the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?”
(Jeremiah 23:26). Clearly, the same deluded false teachers who plagued God’s people in
both the Old and New Testaments are still with us, making Peter’s second epistle as
relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago.
Practical Application: Certainly, as Christians in the 21st century, we are nearer to our
Lord’s return than the first-century Christians to whom this epistle was written. Through
television and other means of mass communications, mature Christians are aware that
many charlatans are parading as true Christian leaders, and that immature Christians
have been “taken in” by their quackery and false interpretation of Scriptures. It behooves
all born-again Christians to be so grounded in the Word that we will be able to discern
truth from error.
The same prescription for growth in faith that Peter gave (2 Peter 1:5-11), when applied
to our lives, will assure us also a rich reward “into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and
Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:10-11). The foundation for our faith is and always will be
the same Word of God that Peter preached.
Inleiding tot die Bybel – Bybel Samevatting
Opsomming van die Boek van 2
Petrus
Petrus?
:2 ). Jeremia was ewe
Petrus se tweede sendbrief vandag net so relevant maak as wat dit 2 000 jaar gelede
was.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.
He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
