Bible Teaching of the Day
a Measure of Faith
In the English Standard Version of the Bible, Romans 12:3 says, “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.” The New American Standard Bible, King James Version, and Holman Christian Standard Bible also contain “measure of faith,” while “measure of faith” is presented as “the faith God has distributed to each of you” in the New International Version and “the faith God has given us” in the New Living Translation.
Right away, two facts are apparent about the “measure of faith”: first, it is the standard by which we correctly appraise ourselves, and, second, it is meted out by God. Because each believer receives his measure of faith by God’s allotment, we are prevented from thinking of ourselves “more highly” than we ought.
Looking at the broader context of Romans 12:3, we notice there is something else given by God. The grace of God is mentioned as a gift to Paul in the same verse, and that same grace is mentioned as a gift to all believers in verse 6: “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” So, immediately following his discussion of the measure of faith, Paul speaks of the gifts of the Spirit: prophesying, serving, teaching, encouraging, giving, leading, and showing mercy.
Recognizing that our measure of faith comes from God prevents pride and encourages “sober judgment.” Each of us should recognize the limits of his or her own gifts. At the same time, we must acknowledge the gifts that others possess and that each believer is divinely placed into Christ as a vital and functioning part of His spiritual Body (Romans 12:4–8; cf. 1 Corinthians 12:27). No member should consider himself or herself as superior to any other but should instead recognize that God has placed us just where He wants us with the gifts He has chosen for us (1 Corinthians 12:11).
God has given to each a “measure of faith” to use for Him. This “faith” is the gift from which all the other gifts flow. Faith is the first gift we receive (for justification), and faith is the gift that brings the other gifts of the Spirit into our lives. When a person is born again, God gives him gifts as a new member of the family of God. We receive the gifts according to the measure that God has given us, and we exercise the gifts according to the same measure of faith.
“To each one of us grace has been given as Christ apportioned it” (Ephesians 4:7). God deals to everyone his portion. Not everyone receives all the gifts, nor is the same gift given to everyone in the same measure. Our sovereign God distributes each gracious gift according to the measure of faith that He has bestowed on us.

Today’s Devotional
The Wrath of God
Last week I briefly touched on the love of God. But there is another side of God of which we seldom speak. In Hebrews 10:31 (KJV) we read, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” In other translations the word fearful is translated as terrifying, terrible, or dreadful. Unfortunately, we seldom speak on falling into the hands of the living God or the wrath of God.
Recently I took a closer look at the events prior to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Leading up to the crucifixion Jesus prayed, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will”. (Matthew 26:39) Like many others, I understood this as Jesus, knowing what will transpire soon, was asking His father to remove the cup of suffering and death He was about to drink from.
But, when turning back to Old Testament prophecies, the cup spoken of is not just the cup of suffering, but also the cup of God’s wrath. Jesus prayed that God will not pour out His wrath upon Him. When we turn to Jeremiah 25:15 as well as Isaiah 51:17 we see God referring to the cup of wrath meant for those who were disobedient or dishonouring the Lord.
Because of sin (disobedience) and unrepentance, the wrath of God has fallen upon us. This implies that those who rejected God, who turned away from God, who lives in sin or continue a lifestyle of sin, even though they claim to have received the Lord Jesus as Saviour will incur God’s judgement or punishment. It must be stated that God who loves us, is also a just (fair) God, who will certainly release His wrath upon those who deny or disobey Him by continuing their sinful life or by giving in to the lustful desires of the flesh. This begs me to ask, “If Jesus Christ could not face or endure the cup of God’s wrath, how will we be able to do so?”
Let us therefor be reminded that Jesus drank the cup of God’s wrath to prevent God’s wrath falling onto us. But to be delivered from the wrath of God, we need to be rooted in Jesus Christ. It is therefor of utmost importance that we confess our sins and believe that Jesus Christ has paid the price by dying, so that we may be free.
“But I have given my life to the Lord on this or that date and I am saved” some may say. The question we need to ask is what we have done since then. And with all due respect, many of us need to ask ourselves whether our repentance was genuine or real.
Let us not fall into the hands of a living God, but in sincerity regularly confess our sins. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us but if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (See 1 John 1:8-9)
In ander vertalings word die woord vreeslik vertaal as verskriklik of vreesaanjaend.
(Sien 1 Johannes 1:8-9)

Bible Prophecy in the News
WHO Runs the World? Your Freedom May Depend On This Treaty

After three years of intensive negotiations, the World Health Organization on Tuesday adopted the world’s first agreement on how to cooperate and respond to future pandemics — without the support of the United States. We are being told that this new pandemic agreement will result in “greater international coordination and surveillance”.
In secret labs all over the planet, researchers are playing around with the deadliest diseases that humanity has ever known. In some cases, the goal is to make those diseases even more deadly and even easier to spread. If a terrorist organization or one of our enemies really wanted to create complete and utter chaos in our society, releasing a weaponized disease in a heavily populated area would be one of the easiest ways to do that.
A bomb could kill hundreds or even thousands of people, but a highly infectious pestilence could spread like wildfire all over the country and potentially kill millions of Americans. If you believe that the Iranians, the North Koreans, the Russians, the Chinese and radical Islamic terror groups all over the globe would never do such a thing because they are such decent people, you have a much higher view of humanity than I do.
Of course it wouldn’t necessarily take a large organization to pull off such an attack. These days, just a handful of people could cook something up and release it into our society if they knew what they were doing.
We have seen extraordinary advancements in the field of biotechnology over the past several decades. Experiments that once took enormous resources to pull off can now be conducted by a group of college kids working in a basement.
We are far more vulnerable than most people realize, and it is just a matter of time before the next killer pandemic erupts.
On Tuesday, the World Health Organization adopted a “pandemic agreement” that is supposed to help it fight future pandemics…
After three years of intensive negotiations, the World Health Organization on Tuesday adopted the world’s first agreement on how to cooperate and respond to future pandemics — without the support of the United States.
The agreement was overwhelmingly passed in a vote of the World Health Assembly, an annual gathering of WHO member state delegations: 124 votes in favor, 11 abstentions and no objections. Leaders of member states hailed the accords, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called it a shared commitment to ensuring that “no one is left behind.”
We are being told that this new pandemic agreement will result in “greater international coordination and surveillance”…
According to the AFP report, the agreement “aims to better detect and combat pandemics by focusing on greater international coordination and surveillance, and more equitable access to vaccines and treatments.”
That’s just great.
We are going to get more “international coordination” and more “surveillance” now.
So precisely who is going to be in charge of implementing specific measures to ensure that there will be “greater international coordination and surveillance” in the future?
Needless to say, it will be the World Health Organization.
This is a power grab by the WHO, and WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus just issued a statement that expresses how thrilled he is about this…
The world is safer today thanks to the leadership, collaboration and commitment of our member states to adopt the historic W.H.O. Pandemic Agreement.
The agreement is a victory for public health, science and multilateral action. It will ensure we, collectively, can better protect the world from future pandemic threats.
It is also a recognition by the international community that our citizens, societies and economies must not be left vulnerable to again suffer losses like those endured during Covid-19.
Thankfully, there are some global leaders that are speaking out against the pandemic agreement.
One of them is Robert F. Kennedy Jr…
In prerecorded remarks aired at the WHO assembly, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. slammed the widely praised agreement and instead called for a “reboot of the whole system.”
“The WHO has not even come to terms with its failures during covid, let alone made significant reforms,” Kennedy said. “Instead, it has doubled down with the Pandemic Agreement, which will lock in all of the dysfunctions of the WHO pandemic response.”
The last pandemic caused so much panic all over the globe, but I am entirely convinced that future pandemics will be much more deadly.
Many experts are closely watching the bird flu because they believe that it could soon start spreading widely among humans. According to one study, a deadly new strain of the bird flu is killing 90 percent of the cats that it infects…
Yet the ways cats are getting bird flu are multiplying. The study shows cats contract bird flu directly by eating infected birds or contaminated raw chicken feed, and indirectly through other mammals – for example, farm cats fed raw milk from infected cows, pet cats to other pet cats, tigers to other tigers.
Infected cats often suffer from acute encephalitis (brain swelling) and other severe symptoms, which are mistaken for rabies, according to the study. The most deadly strain of bird flu is highly infectious and makes up the majority of cases in domestic cats, with a current 90% case fatality rate.
I was quite alarmed when I first read that.
Of course there are countless other diseases that could cause the next global pandemic as well.
We just don’t know which disease it will be.
But what we do know is that more pandemics are coming. In Matthew 24, Jesus specifically warned us that there will be multiple “pestilences” in the days just before His return…
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
And in Luke 21, we once again find Jesus using the plural form of “pestilence” as He was talking about the days just before His return…
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
There won’t just be one “pestilence”.
There will be multiple “pestilences”, and vast numbers of people will die.
In fact, Revelation 6:8 tells us that a fourth part of the global population will die during the seal judgments alone…
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
The phrase “with death” is actually translated as “with pestilence” or “by pestilence” in a number of other English translations.
This is what our future is going to look like.
Millions upon millions of people will die during the great pestilences that are coming.
Can you imagine the panic that this will cause?
Most of the population is using this period of relative stability to party, but they should be using it to prepare.

No, Christian Organizations Should Not ‘Recommit To Pride’ This June

By all accounts, LGBT Pride Month 2025 will be conspicuously low-key. Appalled by Trump’s electoral victory and alarmed by the signal voters sent, major corporations that once supported Pride events have scrambled for the exits as quickly as if someone had pulled the fire alarm.
Gog and Magog Update
Iran Warns ‘No Deal’ As Israel Makes Preparations For Strike On Nuclear Sites

The US has obtained new intelligence suggesting that Israel is making preparations to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, even as the Trump administration has been pursuing a diplomatic deal with Tehran, multiple US officials familiar with the latest intelligence told CNN.
The Iranians are very harshly telling President Trump that he is not going to get what he wants. Over the weekend, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff told ABC News that Iran will not be allowed to enrich uranium, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Monday that “we are 100% committed to that red line”.
Of course the Iranians were never going to agree to that, and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei just made that exceedingly clear. The Iranians apparently believe that Trump was bluffing about taking military action against Iran, and so now we will see if Trump was bluffing or not. Meanwhile, CNN is reporting that Israel “is making preparations to strike Iranian nuclear facilities”…
The US has obtained new intelligence suggesting that Israel is making preparations to strike Iranian nuclear facilities, even as the Trump administration has been pursuing a diplomatic deal with Tehran, multiple US officials familiar with the latest intelligence told CNN.
Such a strike would be a brazen break with President Donald Trump, US officials said. It could also risk tipping off a broader regional conflict in the Middle East — something the US has sought to avoid since the war in Gaza inflamed tensions beginning in 2023.
Wow.
This is really happening.
Apparently U.S. officials have come to this conclusion based on “intercepted Israeli communications and observations of Israeli military movements”…
The heightened worries stem not only from public and private messaging from senior Israeli officials that it is considering such a move, but also from intercepted Israeli communications and observations of Israeli military movements that could suggest an imminent strike, multiple sources familiar with the intelligence said.
Among the military preparations the US has observed are the movement of air munitions and the completion of an air exercise, two of the sources said.
I don’t think that a military strike is imminent but Iran has already issued a warning including saying the US will be held responsible for Israel’s actions…
Iran’s top diplomat warned Thursday that his country would take “special measures” to defend its nuclear facilities if Israel continues to threaten them, raising the stakes further ahead of a new round of talks with the United States.
The comments by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi offered no specifics on what Tehran would do, but international inspectors already have seen their access limited to Iran’s program. That’s even as Tehran enriches uranium to 60% purity, a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90%.
“We are likewise of the firm conviction that — in the event of any attack against the nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Zionist regime — the government of the United States shall bear legal responsibility, having been complicit therein.”
One way or another, Israel is determined to put an end to Iran’s nuclear program.
Of course the Trump administration wants to do the exact same thing, but President Trump believes he can do it peacefully.
Perhaps that was never a realistic goal.
The Iranians were never going to agree to stop enriching uranium, and the White House is telling the world that it simply will not accept anything less than that…
The Trump administration is “100% committed” to ensuring that any nuclear agreement struck with Iran ensures Tehran cannot enrich uranium at any level, the White House said Monday, Anadolu reports.
“We are 100% committed to that red line,” spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters. “The president’s Special Envoy (Steve) Witkoff, Secretary (of State Marco) Rubio, have made that incredibly clear, not just to the American public, but also in those discussions that Special Envoy Witkoff has had directly with the Iranians.”
During an interview with ABC News, Witkoff said Sunday that uranium enrichment is “a very clear red line” in any potential agreement.
“We cannot allow even 1% of an enrichment capability,” he said. “We’ve delivered a proposal to the Iranians that we think addresses some of this without disrespecting them.”
It certainly appears that we have reached an unresolvable impasse.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister is warning that Iran will never agree to stop enriching uranium…
Nuclear talks between Iran and the United States “will lead nowhere” if Washington insists that Tehran drop its uranium enrichment activity to zero, state media quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi on Monday as saying.
US special envoy Steve Witkoff reiterated Washington’s stance on Sunday that any new deal between the US and Iran must include an agreement not to enrich uranium, a possible pathway to developing nuclear bombs.
“Our position on enrichment is clear and we have repeatedly stated that it is a national achievement from which we will not back down,” Takht-Ravanchi said.
And Ayatollah Ali Khamenei just directed some very harsh remarks at the Trump administration…
After several days of back-and-forth public criticisms and US declarations of a “red line” – Iran’s Supreme Leader has finally weighed in definitively on where things stand from Tehran’s perspective.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called the latest US demands that Iranian enrichment be taken down to zero “excessive and outrageous,” according to state media. He further expressed doubts that current nuclear talks with the Trump administration will actually lead anywhere.
“I don’t think nuclear talks with the U.S. will bring results. I don’t know what will happen,” Khamenei said. He further called on Washington to cease making over-the-top demands in nuclear talks. Tehran officials have of late also called the Trump administration’s stance “contradictory” – after President Trump attempted overtures, sprinkled with direct threats, in his Iran-related rhetoric while in the Gulf last week.
“The American side in these indirect talks should avoid nonsensical remarks,” the country’s top religious cleric and highest authority continued. “Saying they will not allow Iran to enrich is a big mistake. No-one waits for their permission.”
So this is it.
If Trump wasn’t bluffing, there will be war.
And even if Trump was bluffing and decides not to attack Iran, Israel will go in alone.
Sadly, once the missiles start flying there will be no going back.
Places in the Bible
Nazareth
Also known as En Nasira, Japhia, Mash-had, en-Nasirah, Nazerat, Nazareth of Galilee, Nazareth in Galilee, Yafti en Nasra

Aerial view from the north
Situated inside a bowl atop the Nazareth ridge north of the Jezreel Valley, Nazareth was a relatively isolated village in the time of Jesus with a population less than 200.
Today, Nazareth is home to more than 60,000 Israeli Arabs, and Upper Nazareth is home to thousands more Jewish residents.
View from the south
Very little is known about Nazareth from the ancient sources. Outside of the New Testament, Nazareth is never mentioned until the Byzantine period (4th c. AD). Archaeological excavations have confirmed that the city was only a small agricultural village during the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Church of Annunciation
A Byzantine church was built over the place where it is believed that the angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus to the virgin Mary. In 1966, the Roman Catholic Church began constructing a new basilica over these remains and today this church is the largest church building in the Middle East. The Greek Orthodox Church nearby is built over the town’s water source.
Rejection of Jesus
Jesus spent His boyhood years in Nazareth before beginning His ministry when He was about 30 (Mark 1). After moving His home to Capernaum, Jesus returned to teach in the synagogue of Nazareth twice more, but was rejected both times (Mark 6:1-6; Luke 4:16-30). On one occasion the townspeople were so outraged at Jesus that they tried to throw Him off a cliff to His death.

Introduction to the Bible – Bible Summary
Summary of the Book of Acts
Author: The book of Acts, also called Acts of the Apostles, does not specifically identify
its author. From Luke 1:1–4 and Acts 1:1–3, we know that the same author wrote both
Luke and Acts. The tradition from the earliest days of the church has been that Luke, a
companion of the apostle Paul, wrote the books of Luke and Acts (Colossians 4:14; 2
Timothy 4:11).
The emphasis of the book is the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Acts
records the apostles being Christ’s witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the
surrounding world. The book of Acts sheds light on the gift of the Holy Spirit, who
empowers, guides, teaches, and serves as our Counselor. Reading the book of Acts, we
are enlightened and encouraged by the power of the gospel as it spread throughout the
world and transformed lives. Many miracles were performed during this time by the
apostles to validate their message. The book of Acts covers the transitional time
between the ascension of Christ and the completion of the New Testament canon, and
the apostolic miracles were God’s means of authenticating His message through the
men who penned the Bible.
Key Verses:
Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be
my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Acts 2:4: “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other
tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”
Acts 4:12: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven
given to men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:19–20: “But Peter and John replied, ‘Judge for yourselves whether it is right in
God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we
have seen and heard.’”
Acts 9:3–6: “As [Saul] neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven
flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why
do you persecute me?’ ‘Who are you, Lord?’ Saul asked. ‘I am Jesus, whom you are
persecuting,’ he replied. ‘Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you
must do.’”
Acts 16:31: “So they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.’”
Brief Summary: The book of Acts gives the history of the Christian church and the
spread of the gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as the mounting opposition to it. Although
many faithful servants were used to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, Saul,
also called Paul, was the most influential. Before he was converted, Paul zealously
persecuted Christians. Paul’s dramatic conversion on the Damascus road (Acts 9:1–31) is
a highlight of the book of Acts. After his conversion he went to the opposite extreme of
loving God and preaching His Word with power and fervency in the Spirit of the true
and living God. The disciples were empowered by the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses in
Jerusalem (Acts 1—8:3), in Judea and Samaria (8:4—12:25), and to the ends of the earth
(13:1—28:31). Included in the last section are Paul’s three missionary journeys (13:1—
21:16), his trials in Jerusalem and Caesarea (21:17—26:32) and his journey to Rome
(27:1—28:31).
Connections: The book of Acts serves as a transition from the Old Covenant to the
New. This transition is seen in several key events in Acts. First, there was a change in the
ministry of the Holy Spirit, whose primary function in the Old Testament was the
external “anointing” of God’s people, among them Moses (Numbers 11:17), Othniel
(Judges 3:8–10), Gideon (Judges 6:34), and Saul (1 Samuel 10:6–10). After the ascension
of Jesus, the Spirit came to live in the very hearts of believers (Romans 8:9–11; 1
Corinthians 3:16), guiding and empowering them from within. The indwelling Spirit is
the gift of God to those who come to Him in faith.
Paul’s conversion in Acts 9 is a dramatic example of the power of God unto salvation
(see Romans 1:16) and the opening of spiritually blinded eyes. Paul admitted that, prior
to meeting the risen Savior, he was the most zealous of Israelites and was blameless
“concerning righteousness based on the law” (Philippians 3:6), going so far as to
persecute those who taught salvation by grace through faith in Christ. But, after his
conversion, Paul realized that all his legalistic efforts were worthless, and he considered
them “rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of
my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the
righteousness that comes from God and is by faith” (Philippians 3:8–9). Before he met
Christ, Paul had been blinded by a pharisaical misinterpretation of the law and an
inflated opinion of his own righteousness. After he met Christ, the “scales fell from Saul’s
eyes,” as it were (Acts 9:18). His boasting of his own goodness was replaced by his
glorying in the cross of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:27; Galatians 6:14).
Peter’s vision of the sheet full of unclean animals in Acts 10:9–15 is another sign of the
transition from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant’s unity of Jew and Gentile in one
universal Church. The “unclean” animals in Peter’s vision symbolized the Gentiles, who
were declared “cleansed” by God through the sacrificial death of Christ. The Old
Covenant law had served its purpose (see Galatians 3:23–29), and both Jews and
Gentiles are united in the New Covenant of grace through their faith in the death and
resurrection of Christ.
Practical Application: God can do amazing things through ordinary people when He
empowers them through His Spirit. The book of Acts shows how God essentially took a
group of fisherman and commoners and used them to turn the world upside down (Acts
17:6). God took a Christian-hating murderer and transformed him into history’s greatest
Christian evangelist, the author of almost half the books of the New Testament. God
used the persecution the Christians endured to help stimulate the incredibly rapid
expansion of the fledgling church. God can and does do the same through us—
changing our hearts, empowering us by the Holy Spirit, and giving us a passion to
spread the good news of salvation through Christ. If we try to accomplish God’s work in
the world in our own power, we will fail. Like the disciples in Acts 2, we must faithfully
proclaim the gospel, trust God for the results, and devote ourselves “to the apostles’
teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42).
Inleiding tot die Bybel – Bybel Samevatting
Opsomming van die boek
Handelinge
omliggende wêreld is.
waarom vervolg jy my? “Wie is U, Here?” het Saul gevra. “Ek is Jesus, wat jy vervolg,” het
hy geantwoord.
(13:1—28) :31). Ingesluit in die laaste afdeling is Paulus se drie sendingreise (13:1—
21:16), sy beproewinge in Jerusalem en Sesarea (21:17—26:32) en sy reis na Rome
(27:1—28:31).
Nuwe. Hierdie oorgang word gesien in verskeie sleutelgebeure in Handelinge. Eerstens
