JESUS IS THE TRULIGHT
The apostle John opens his Gospel with a systematic, 18-verse introduction to the Lord Jesus Christ. A key aspect of Christ’s nature that John highlights is that He is the bearer of light. Jesus brings the revelation of God’s life and light into a dark world (verses 4–5). In John 1:6–9, the apostle explains that John the Baptist was merely a witness to the light, but Jesus is the true light: “There was a man sent from God whose name was John [the Baptist]. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”
John the Baptist’s message was illuminating, but he was not the true light. Jesus is the true light, the real thing, the genuine article—God in the flesh. He alone reveals God’s glory in the world because He is God incarnate who “became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14; see also 1 Timothy 3:16; 1 John 1:1–2; 4:2).
By stating that Jesus is the true light coming into the world, John directly connects Him to Israel’s Messiah as the prophets foretold: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:2; see also Isaiah 49:6; 60:1–2; Malachi 4:2).
Jesus is “the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being” (Hebrews 1:3). He beams forth the light, truth, and life of God to the world and into the hearts of men and women. Jesus Himself declared, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12; see also John 9:5). At Christ’s transfiguration, Peter, James, and John caught a glimpse of the true light as Jesus’ “face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light” (Matthew 17:2). In the book of Revelation, John describes Jesus’ face “like the sun shining in all its brilliance” (Revelation 1:16). He is the “bright Morning Star” (Revelation 22:16).
Jesus is the true light of God for those who partake of His salvation. When we receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, He makes God’s “light shine in our hearts” so we can “know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6). Those who trust in Jesus and “believe in the light” become “children of light” (John 12:35–36, 46). As children of the light, we are called to bring His “salvation to the ends of the earth” (Acts 13:47). Jesus said, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
Several elements are necessary to sustain human life: light, air, water, and food are among the most critical. Jesus is the true light means He is our essential source of life. Without light, it is impossible to sustain life of any kind on earth. If the sun ceases to shine, everything will die. Not only is Jesus our light, but He is also the spiritual air we breathe. By His Holy Spirit, He breathes on us the “breath of life” (John 3:8; 20:22). Jesus is also the “living water” who, by His Holy Spirit, becomes in us “a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:10–14; 7:37–39).
Jesus declared Himself to be “the true bread from heaven” (John 6:32). He is the genuine “bread of life” (John 6:35). He is our life-giving, life-sustaining source. He fully meets all our needs and perfectly satisfies our souls. In John 15:1–17, Jesus revealed that He is “the true vine,” and His Father owns the garden. Christ’s followers are described as fruit-bearing branches. They are the true believers who “abide in the vine.” Jesus is everything we need for life because He is God, “the fountain of life” (Psalm 36:9).
Jesus is the true light is John’s unequivocal way of stating that Jesus Christ is the ultimate, one and only, genuine self-disclosure of God to man. The Word of God became flesh and blood, and Jesus Christ is “the light of the world.” In Him, there is “no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). His light is our “light and our salvation” (Psalm 27:1). Jesus Christ is the true light of God sent into the world to pierce through the darkness. Through His life, ministry, and message, Jesus brought the light and life of God to bear on everyone He encountered. That light continues to shine on earth through His Church (Ephesians 5:8; Philippians 2:15).

Bible Teaching of the Day
“Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and favor with God and man”
Luke 2:52 provides a brief yet important glimpse into Jesus’ development as He grew from childhood into adulthood: “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and favor with God and man” (NKJV). The phrase wisdom and stature in this context reflects Jesus’ holistic growth, encompassing His physical, intellectual, and emotional maturation. His increase in favor with God and man signifies His growing relationship with God and humanity. This relationship would be crucial in His ministry and His role as the Savior.
The mention of “wisdom” in Luke 2:52 suggests that Jesus’ growth was not merely in knowledge but in practical application. Wisdom, in the biblical sense, involves living in a way that honors God and aligns with His will. Proverbs 2:6 states, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Jesus, as He increased in wisdom, would have grown in His understanding of the Scriptures and in His ability to discern God’s will. This growth in wisdom signifies that, even as the Son of God, Jesus underwent a process of learning and understanding, preparing Him for His public ministry.
“Stature,” on the other hand, refers to Jesus’ physical development. As He grew in stature, Jesus matured from a child into an adult, experiencing the physical growth that comes with age. This aspect of His growth is crucial because it highlights His full humanity. Jesus, though divine, experienced life as a human. He was subject to the same physical processes as any other person. Isaiah 53:2 prophesies of the Messiah, “He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground.” This growth in stature was necessary for Jesus to fully identify with humanity and fulfill His role as the Son of Man and Savior.
The phrase wisdom and stature also points to the balanced nature of Jesus’ development. He did not grow lopsidedly in one area while neglecting others. This balance is seen in how Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man. His growth in wisdom ensured that He could live a life pleasing to God, and His stature allowed Him to engage with the world around Him meaningfully. Philippians 2:7–8 emphasizes Christ’s humility and obedience: “He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!” This balanced growth prepared Jesus for His divine mission on earth.
Additionally, Jesus’ increase in wisdom and stature reflects His growing capacity to fulfill His divine mission. As He matured, His wisdom became evident in how He understood and taught the Scriptures, and He astounded the teachers in the temple at just twelve years old (Luke 2:46–47).
Growth is significant in the lives of all believers. Just as Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, Christians are called to grow in understanding God’s Word and spiritual maturity. Ephesians 4:15 encourages believers to “grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ” (ESV). This growth involves cultivating a deep relationship with God, gaining wisdom through His Word, and maturing to live as redeemed people. The sketch of Jesus’ human development in Luke 2:52 serves as a model for all His followers, showing that growth in wisdom and stature is possible and necessary for a life of faith.
Hy was onderworpe aan dieselfde fisiese prosesse as enige ander persoon.

Today’s Devotional
Among many other places in Scripture, Psalm 145:3 declares God’s greatness: “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” Dozens of verses describe God as “great” and give as evidence His wondrous works (e.g., Psalm 86:10; 96:4; 135:5; Job 5:9; 9:10; 1 Chronicles 16:24). In describing a person, the word great means “preeminent, above the norm, or distinguished.” It also implies superior character or quality, such as saying that Abraham Lincoln was “a great man.” So, when the Bible describes God as “great,” it sets the Lord apart from human beings we may consider “great” and calls attention to His worthiness to be worshiped and adored (2 Kings 17:36; Psalm 5:7).
The word great is used in many English versions of the Bible to capture the meaning of the Greek and Hebrew words describing God’s superior character qualities. First John 3:1 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” (emphasis added). Romans 9:22 speaks of God’s “great patience.” Lamentations 3:22–23 praises the Lord for His great love and His great faithfulness.
Ephesians 1:19 indicates that God’s might is unsurpassed—it is an “incomparably great power.” Titus 2:13 calls Jesus “our great God and Savior,” meaning that the Lord is of the highest rank, eminent in His authority. Hebrews 10:21 says that Jesus is “a great priest over the house of God,” signifying that Christ surpasses all other priests throughout history in nature, in power, and in ability. When Jesus cast a demon out of a boy, the crowd was “amazed at the greatness of God” (Luke 9:43).
All through the Bible, we see evidence that God is great, from the creation of the world, to the parting of the Red Sea, to the miracles of Christ, to the final judgment. Our response to God’s greatness is to humbly worship and adore Him: “Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness” (Psalm 150:2).
God is so great that He cannot be compared with anything or anyone else (Psalm 71:19). Since He created everything in existence, He is far superior to those creations. He is bigger, in the sense that He cannot be confined by time or space. He is wiser, using foolish things to confound those who think themselves wise (Isaiah 40:13; 1 Corinthians 1:27). He is infinite, while all created things are finite (Psalm 90:2). God, in fact, defines greatness, and all other uses of the word are mere echoes of that greatness.
Psalm 86:10; 96:4; 135:5; Job 5:9; 9:10; 1 Kronieke 16:24).
Hy is oneindig, terwyl alle geskape dinge eindig is (Psalm 90:2).

INTRODUCTION TO THE GOSPEL ARTISTS
MEET : Brothers of the Heart

Super groups have a prestigious history in the music industry from such legendary rockers as The Traveling Wilburys to the iconic country foursome The Highwaymen to the stellar Trio of Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. There’s a special excitement when successful artists combine their individual talents and star power to create something fresh and exciting. That tradition continues with Brothers of the Heart. Jimmy Fortune, Bradley Walker, Mike Rogers and Ben Isaacs have joined forces again on their sophomore set Listen to the Music and are putting their distinctive stamp on 12 iconic songs.
Dubbed the “country, bluegrass, gospel dream team” by Cowboys & Indians magazine, the foursome follows their acclaimed debut project with a diverse collection of songs and an accompanying TV special and DVD, narrated by Country and Gospel Music Hall of Famer Don Reid of the Statler Brothers. It was Reid who coined the phrase Brothers of the Heart when describing Fortune, Walker, Rogers and Isaacs. “When he was introducing us, Don said, ‘I call them Brothers of the Heart,’ and it’s so true because we love each other so much,” says Walker. “For me, this is so much more than music. When you hear people talk about this group they say, ‘You can tell that you all love each other, and you can tell you all are having fun.’ That’s the best thing about it to me. That’s so much of the appeal of the group. It’s not just songs, the music, the harmonies and all that, but the love between us and our love for people. I’m so thankful to be a part of this.”
That sense of camaraderie and appreciation for each other’s gifts permeates Listen to the Music. Each member enjoyed a hugely successful career before coming together as Brothers of the Heart and still maintain their individual careers. Fortune rose to prominence as a member of the legendary Statler Brothers; and when the group retired after his 21-year tenure, the Virginia native went on to carve a successful solo career, winning two GMA DOVE Awards, receiving IBMA songwriting honors and being inducted into the Virginia Musical Hall of Fame in 2018. Isaacs is an in-demand producer who has steered projects for everyone from Dennis Quaid to The Oak Ridge Boys while touring globally with his family’s award-winning band, Grand Ole Opry members The Isaacs.
Rogers is a Myrtle Beach, SC, native who performed with bluegrass icon Doyle Lawson and country star Craig Morgan before joining Ricky Skaggs’ famed band Kentucky Thunder. Walker is an Alabama native, who joined The Oak Ridge Boys on stage at age 10 and continued to steadily build an impressive resume that includes winning Male Vocalist of the Year from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and a DOVE Award for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year in 2018 for Blessed: Hymns & Songs of Faith. Eric Clapton personally invited Walker to perform at his 2019 Crossroads Festival, and Vince Gill accompanied Walker on guitar.
Fortune, Isaacs, Rogers and Walker joined forces in 2020 to release the album/TV special/DVD Brotherly Love, which became an instant fan favorite. “I was surprised,” Rogers says of the first album’s success. “You never know what something is going to do, but I think everybody saw the heart and the love that we put into that record. What you see on stage is what we are off stage; and what we’re singing, whether it’s ‘The Lighthouse’ or ‘Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good,’ we’re putting our heart into it. That’s what people see. It’s real. There’s no hiding anything. That’s just what we do.”
It’s that combination of pure heart and gifted artistry that once again combines to make Listen to the Music such an engaging collection. The project kicks off with Fortune’s soaring lead vocals on the Doobie Brothers’ classic “Listen to the Music.” The 12-song collection continues with each member taking turns on lead vocals as they put their creative spin on such country, rock and gospel classics as Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” Glen Campbell’s “Gentle on My Mind,” Vince Gill’s “Liza Jane,” the Everly Brothers’ “Bye Bye Love,” the Statler Brothers’ “I’ll Go to My Grave Loving You” and the Eagles’ “Desperado.”
“We get together and throw songs out there,” Fortune says of the way the foursome comes together, suggesting favorite songs and then working them up to see how they feel. He admits Isaacs had to talk him into singing lead on “Desperado” because he couldn’t imagine recreating the magic of Don Henley’s original vocal performance. “I always consider them the top of the heap as far as what’s out there and what’s ever been out there,” Fortune says of the Eagles. “So, to attempt something like what they do, you’ve really got to take a chance.”
The chance paid off as Fortune’s shimmering vocals breathe new life into a well-loved treasure. “Jimmy Fortune can sing any style of music, any style of music from so many different eras from pop to country to gospel, just anything,” Walker says with a smile. “The way Jimmy sings, the heart that he sings with, not many people can pull off doing an Eagles song. When he starts singing ‘Desperado’ you are like, ‘Wow!’ That voice is just so iconic. When Jimmy starts singing songs like that, it’s hard for us to remember our parts because we get so wrapped up in listening to him sing, listening to that voice. So much of what makes Jimmy great is the man that he is. He takes every ounce of the emotion he has, every ounce of the feeling, every ounce of everything that he has and pours into the songs that he sings.”
The Brothers are each other’s biggest cheerleaders. Fortune admits he had to talk Isaacs into singing lead on the Statlers’ “I’ll Go to My Grave Loving You,” which is the last song they sang together on stage when they were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. “We talked about who was going to sing that song; and I said, ‘Ben, you’re going to sing it,’ and he was like, ‘No, no, no!’ And I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah!’ I had to talk him into that one. We were looking for some things for Ben to sink his teeth into and he studied Don and listened to him a lot. He made it his own too. I thought he really did a good job. He owned that song.”
Isaacs also delivers a potent version of Campbell’s “Gentle on My Mind” that earned the praise of his Brothers, but was he nervous? “My dad would say ‘as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs’ because first of all, I don’t think I’ve ever sang a song with that many lyrics in it,” says Isaacs, who had met the iconic entertainer before his death. “When he was doing the Ryman shows, I rode down with The Oak Ridge Boys and got to meet him and spend a little bit of time with him; and just to watch their respect for each other, that was cool to me.”
Rogers sings lead on the Paul McCartney and Wings’ hit “Let ‘Em In,” Gill’s “Liza Jane” and on the gospel classic “Precious Memories.” He admits tackling the latter tune was hard for him. “I used to sing that song with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. My dad passed 10 years ago and I haven’t sang it since that,” Rogers shares. “I think now the more I do it the easier it will get but that was tough initially.”
“Mike and I recorded that at the studio just the two of us,” says Isaacs, “because I wanted him to be able to be vulnerable and to give a performance that will capture the everything that he feels in that song, and he does it so well.”
Another standout moment on the album is Walker’s interpretation of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire.” “He never had done that song before and I was surprised,” Fortune says. “Bradley just put himself in it and he made it his own.”
Walker’s cover earned high praise from Reid. “Don said, ‘Bradley, you’ve made this song yours with no Johnny inflections at all,’” Isaacs recalls. “So it was about the song and not the artist. There are songs that are bigger than the artists. The song will stand when the artist is gone and that’s one of those songs.”
In recording an album of covers, there’s a fine line between giving the listener something familiar and offering something fresh. As producer of the project, Isaacs carefully strikes that delicate balance. “I feel like it starts with doing your best to honor the music’s roots,” Isaacs says. “There are little signature licks, and I felt like it was important to not change an arrangement so much that you confuse people. So much of this type of record is about recognizability, so you want to do everything that you can to put your stamp on it but to also honor the originals.”
“Ben is the brainchild of all of it,” Rogers says of Isaacs’ production skills. “We all kind of throw in our two cents worth, but Ben pulls us all together. He’s the wrangler of the bunch.”
As much fun as the foursome had in the recording studio, they had an even more enjoyable time recording the TV special/DVD in the legendary Studio A at the Grand Ole Opry house where the Statler Brothers once taped their hit TV show. “It was like coming full circle,” says Fortune, adding the group was so honored that Reid narrated the TV special/DVD, conducting the interview with the group and lending his voice to the project. “I’d just as soon hear him talk as to hear us sing I’ll tell you that,” Fortune laughs. “He’s got that beautiful voice even talking, much less singing; but he hasn’t sung any since the Statlers retired. He knew the questions to ask and he knew how to ask them. It was pretty magical to get his stamp of approval. He’s a big fan of harmonies, of course, being with the Statler Brothers, and he was so complimentary. Having someone you look up to that knows so much about the history of the songs to say, ‘Hey, I love you all’s rendition of all these songs’–it was quite an honor to hear him say that.”
With decades of musical experiences behind them, Fortune, Walker, Rogers and Isaacs know they have something special as Brothers of the Heart; and even though they each continue to nurture their careers outside the group, they are thankful for the creative moments they have together. “There’s anointing on the four of us,” Walker says. “You can put four people together, four great soloists and sometimes it doesn’t work. Yet this does. It’s the songs and our harmonies. This music takes people back to a certain time and I think people are longing for that now.”
The Brothers enjoyed taking their fans on a stroll down memory lane as they serve up such beloved classics as “Just As I Am” and “God Bless America” alongside lesser known gems such as Jimmy Fortune’s take on Jackson Browne’s “These Days.” They carry listeners back to a simpler time when the power of a great song sung by good friends could make the day brighter.
“We love each other so much and respect each other so much that we are each other’s biggest fans,” Isaacs says. “When Bradley is singing or when Mikey is singing or when Jimmy is singing, I am rooting for them as hard as I know they are rooting for me when I’m singing because we realize that what we are together is way better than what we are individually. So, there is a line of respect and love and caring and support.”
It’s a special blend that transcends great harmonies and memorable lyrics. It’s something unique that can only be created by Brothers of the Heart.

Bible Prophecy in the News
‘Dirty bomb’ attack: This could be Iran’s next move against Israel

If Khamenei wants to make good on his threats, his next step will likely be to hit Israel with dirty bombs to spread radiation over large sections of its urban areas.
The Islamic Republic continues to fire missiles at Israel. Israel and its allies shoot down most, but a few continue to get through.
Meanwhile, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei continues to vow revenge. “Israel has prepared a bitter fate for itself, which it will surely receive,” he announced.
His time is running out. Israel’s strikes into Iran are more precise and effective than Iran’s missile and drone barrages. Every Iranian launch exposes batteries and launch sites Israel then targets.
While Israel can continue its air and missile strikes to degrade the regime’s nuclear and military sites and eliminate its leadership, the Iranian military essentially flails ineffectively.
What Will Iran Do Next?
As Khamenei and his Islamic Republic grow more desperate, the international community should brace for Khamenei’s attempt to make good on his threat.
The Iranian barrages so far demonstrate that, despite repeated statements by Iranian diplomats like former Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the goal of Iran’s arsenal was always Israel’s eradication; there was little “duel” in the regime’s dual-use work.
Khamenei is 86-years-old and now among the last of his generation of revolutionary officials; he wants to see his life’s work achieved in the next days.
There is little doubt that the Islamic Republic has a huge stockpile of uranium, in quantities and with enrichment levels far beyond what it would need for either a civilian nuclear energy program or medical purposes.
The U.S. government erred when it arbitrarily defined Iran’s nuclear weapons capability as achieving 20 kilograms of 90 percent enriched uranium.
Essentially, the intelligence community twisted its intelligence by using an arbitrary definition to deny Iranian goals and achievements.
In reality, nuclear weapons can have great destruction at enrichment levels below 90 percent. The uranium in the “Little Boy” bomb dropped on Hiroshima, for example, had an average enrichment level of 80 percent, a level Iranian scientists had already achieved.
The Dirty Bomb Nightmare
Israel may have struck Iran before it could build a fissile nuclear weapon, but the Islamic Republic can still cause tremendous destruction short of a nuclear explosion.
If Khamenei wants to make good on his threats, his next step will likely be to hit Israel with dirty bombs to spread radiation over large sections of its urban areas.
The same strategy would satisfy Khamenei’s desire for revenge against Arab states that help Israel.
After all, if Jordan shoots down a missile with a radioactive warhead over its own territory, then the resulting radiation contamination it suffers would be, from Khamenei’s perspective, divine retribution.
What Should Israel Do?
With such a situation looming, Israel has no choice but to kill Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The Iranian ayatollah is a legitimate target due to his constitutional role as commander-in-chief of the Iranian military.
What should the United States do? There is no substitute for an integrated information operation in any military campaign, even one in which Americans do not directly participate.
President Donald Trump should use his bully pulpit to make clear that any Iranian of any rank who participates in the preparation of a dirty bomb will not only be killed, but their property will also be destroyed.
If the U.S. intelligence community has penetrated sufficiently, it should even announce the names of those it is watching and to which it is speaking in order to deter their action. END OF ARTICLE IN THE NEWS

Oil Markets On Edge: How Iran Could Send Prices Through The Roof

The specter of Tehran closing or severely disrupting traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has thrown oil markets and global economies into a state of anxious uncertainty. The potential ramifications could be nothing short of catastrophic, sending oil prices soaring beyond current records and triggering shocks felt worldwide.
Two Decades Of American Folly Made Israel’s Iran Strike Necessary

Like many, if not most, wars, the conflict between Israel and Iran didn’t have to happen, and certainly, not in this way. That won’t be the way the international media, as well as liberal legacy news outlets in the United States, report it. The same sources that have been demonizing Jerusalem’s efforts to eradicate the Hamas terrorists who launched the Gaza war with unspeakable atrocities on Oct. 7, 2023, will put all the blame on Netanyahu and the Israelis.
It Wasn’t Always This Way: The Forgotten Friendship Between Iran And Israel

For many around the world, the Iran-Israel relationship is defined by decades of hostility, threats, and war. Yet, it wasn’t always this way. Before the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iran was a modern, thriving nation with complex but cooperative ties to Israel.
Gog and Magog Update
WATCH: ‘Pakistan will drop a nuclear weapon on Israel if it drops one on Iran,’ says former IRGC chief
Former IRGC Commander-in-Chief Mohsen Rezaee predicted the rise of an Islamic army that will dominate the region, claiming that after Pakistan responds to an Israeli nuclear strike with one of its own, an Islamic alliance will emerge—and the Zionists will flee the country.
Iran planned to invade Israel ‘from all sides,’ with ‘nuclear strike,’ thousands of terrorists, Danon saysIsraeli Ambassador to the United

Israel’s strikes against Iran on Friday morning were a “calculated and necessary action” that was “carried out in response to an escalating existential threat,” Danny Danon, Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, told reporters in New York at the global body’s headquarters.
The Islamic Republic has a long history of funding and training terror proxies across the Middle East, but the direct threat from the regime “took a dramatic turn,” Danon said. “Iran advanced significantly toward nuclear weapons capabilities.”
Danon pointed to a secret program, which Israeli intelligence uncovered, that showed dangerous Iranian progress toward a nuclear bomb.
It also revealed plans for a surprise attack on Israel in coordination with Iran’s proxies, with an invasion “from all sides, with thousands of terrorists and thousands of projectiles” going beyond an Oct. 7-style attack and incorporating “a nuclear strike,” the envoy said.
He noted “an absence of meaningful international consequences” to Iran’s “repeated violations” and its “continued deception” amid a recent International Atomic Energy Agency report showing that Tehran’s nuclear program was outside the parameters of its international commitments.
The report also showed that Iran obscures the details of its nuclear program.
Danon chided António Guterres, the U.N. secretary-general, who issued a statement earlier on Friday expressing “concern” over Israel’s operation.
“I must ask: Where was the secretary-general when Iran spent years arming itself while vowing to wipe Israel off the map?” Danon said. “Where was his voice when Iran rained hundreds of missiles and drones on our civilians?”
At Iran’s request, the U.N. Security Council is slated to meet at 3 p.m. in New York on Friday—first in an open setting and then behind closed doors to discuss Israel’s operation and its aftermath.
“We will not sit quietly while our people are targeted,” Danon said. “Not again. Not ever. Empty words will not stop Iran. Israel will.”

Introduction to the Bible – Bible Summary
Summary of the Book of 3 John
Author: The Book of 3 John does not directly name its author. The tradition from the
earliest days of the church has been that the apostle John is the author. There have been
occasional doubts raised by those who thought it possible that this was written by
another disciple of the Lord named John, but all the evidence points to the author as
John the beloved disciple who also wrote the Gospel of John.
Date of Writing: The Book of 3 John would most likely have been written at about the
same time as John’s other letters, 1 and 2 John, between A.D. 85-95.
Purpose of Writing: John’s purpose in writing this third epistle is threefold. First, he
writes to commend and encourage his beloved co-worker, Gaius, in his ministry of
hospitality to the itinerant messengers who were going from place to place to preach
the Gospel of Christ. Second, he indirectly warns and condemns the behavior of
one Diotrephes, a dictatorial leader who had taken over one of the churches in the
province of Asia, and whose behavior was directly opposed to all that the apostle and
his Gospel stood for. Third, he commends the example of Demetrius who was reported
as having a good testimony from all.
Key Verses:
3 John 4: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”
3 John 11: “Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does
what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.”
Brief Summary: John is writing with his usual strong emphasis on truth to this muchloved
brother in Christ, Gaius, a layman of some wealth and distinction in a city near
Ephesus. He highly commends Gaius’ care and hospitality to his messengers whose
mission was to take the Gospel from place to place, whether they were known to him or
were strangers. John exhorts him to continue to to do good and not to imitate evil, as in
the example of Diotrephes. This man had taken over the leadership of a church in Asia
and not only refused to recognize John’s authority as an apostle but also refused to
receive his letters and submit to his directions. He also circulated malicious slanders
against John and excommunicated members who showed support and hospitality to
John’s messengers. Before John concludes his letter, he also commends the example of
Demetrius, of whom he has heard excellent reports.
Connections: The concept of offering hospitality to strangers has plenty of precedent in
the Old Testament. Acts of hospitality in Israel included the humble and gracious
reception of aliens into the home for food, lodging, and protection (Genesis 18:2-
8, 19:1-8; Job 31:16-23, 31-32). In addition, Old Testament teaching portrays the
Israelites as alienated people who are dependent on God’s hospitality (Psalm 39:12) and
God as the One who graciously meets their needs, redeeming them from Egypt and
feeding and clothing them in the wilderness (Exodus 16; Deuteronomy 8:2-5).
Practical Application: John, as always, emphasizes the importance of walking in the
truth of the Gospel. Hospitality, support and encouragement for our fellow Christians
are some of the main precepts of the teachings of Jesus, and Gaius was obviously an
outstanding example of this ministry. We should also show hospitality to those who
minister the Word, welcoming them into our churches and homes. Those who are
servants of the gospel deserve our support and encouragement.
We also need to be careful always to follow only the example of those whose words and
actions are in line with the Gospel, and to be discerning enough to be aware of those
such as Diotrephes whose behavior is far from being like that which Jesus taught.
Inleiding tot die Bybel – Bybel Samevatting
Opsomming van die Boek van 3
Johannes
Daar was
Sleutelverse:
in ‘n stad naby Efese.
missie was om die Evangelie van plek tot plek te neem, of hulle aan hom bekend was of
vreemdelinge was.
was natuurlik ‘n uitstaande voorbeeld van hierdie bediening.
Pastoor Dirk /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// “I have no greater joy than to know that my children Daniel and Dilize are walking in the truth.” Pastor Dirk
