Gebed
Here, dit is uitstekende raad van Apostel Paulus.

Bible Teaching of the Day
Marriage is a Practice Run for your Relationship with God one-day
Biblical principles can be applied to every area of life, including a Christian marriage ceremony. However, there is a difference between preparing for a marriage ceremony and preparing for marriage. Many people put far more effort and thought into the marriage ceremony than they do into the future marriage, and the divorce statistics reveal this sad truth. But, when Christians marry, every part of the ceremony and the resulting marriage can be guided by biblical principles. When those principles are honored and obeyed, not only is the ceremony meaningful, but the marriage is built upon a solid foundation.
Marriage ceremonies vary greatly from culture to culture. Christian marriage ceremonies can differ in style, length, expense, and elements and still be God-honoring. The elements a couple chooses to include in the ceremony are not of great significance. What matters more are the hearts of the bride and groom and their willingness to keep God at the center of their lives and family. As indicators of that commitment, Christian marriage ceremonies often include the following:
1) A brief, biblical sermon by the pastor performing the ceremony
2) An exchange of vows and rings between bride and groom
3) A prayer for the couple
4) Some type of symbolic act representing the union of two individuals. This may be the lighting of a unity candle, combining two colors of sand into a keepsake vase, or any other creative way the couple can express their oneness.
A Christian marriage ceremony may even incorporate an invitation for guests to respond to a salvation message.
The biblical principle that is most important in a Christian marriage ceremony is an understanding of what marriage is and how God views it. Our world treats marriage as one option among many for establishing a household, to be sustained only as long as both parties want it. Marriage has become as disposable as plastic-ware and is being bypassed many times in favor of non-married cohabitation. But cohabitation is sin according to Scripture and not to be considered an option for Christians (see Hebrews 13:4). An understanding of the purpose of marriage will help couples choose to honor God in their relationship and will also influence the ceremonies they design.
Marriage was God’s idea, and He established its definition and parameters. In the Garden of Eden, God created one woman (Eve) for one man (Adam), saying, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him” (Genesis 2:18). He told them to “be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:22), a command that can only be obeyed in a union of two different genders. Jesus reinforced this truth in the New Testament when He reminded those who questioned the permanence of marriage that “at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate” (Mark 10:6–9).
Several principles about marriage are clear from Scripture:
- Marriage as God designed it is between one man and one woman for life (Genesis 2:18, 22).
- Marriage is the combining of two distinct individuals into a new entity, a new family (Genesis 2:23–24).
- Marriage is witnessed by God Himself as He makes two people one (Malachi 2:13–15).
- Divorce was not an option in God’s original design (Matthew 19:7–10).
- Marriage is a small glimpse of Christ’s intimate, loving relationship with His bride, the church (Ephesians 5:31–32).
When Christian couples keep these principles in mind, the ceremonies they design can be beautiful, meaningful, and God-honoring without going to great expense. The extravagance of the marriage ceremony has nothing to do with the strength of the resulting marriage. But, when biblical principles are applied to a Christian marriage ceremony, those principles follow the couple throughout their lives and provide a strong and lasting foundation for life.

Today’s Devotional
“KNOW THE WORD – KNOW GOD”
When the question “Do you know God?” was asked to an audience, many thought it had to do with salvation and answered “Yes!” But when the second question: “Do you really know God?” was asked, many admitted that they knew little about God. When asked if they knew what God expected of them, the audience became very quiet. If we were to take everything into account, we could conclude that we do not know God. And the reason for this is because we do not know or study the Word (Bible).
In light of this, I would like to point out the importance of studying the Word of God. In a search for reasons why we do not study the Word, I came across the quote by R.C. Sproul. He once said: “We fail in our duty to study God’s Word not so much because it is difficult to understand, not so much because it is dull and boring, but because it is work. Our problem is not a lack of intelligence or a lack of passion. Our problem is that we are lazy.” The other reason why many do not want to study the Word is because the Word proves that God knows man, that the Word calls us to repentance and that we must then change. Billy Sunday said: “The reason you don’t like the Bible, you old sinner, is because it knows all about you.”
Let me show you with a few examples how the scripture answers our questions over and over again.
“Does God know me?” – Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. (Jeremiah 1:5)
“Does God love me?” – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
“Does God care about me?” – Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
“Will God forgive me?” – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
As we have seen above, we can learn a lot about God simply by studying the Word. But what does the Word say about the Word? All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the person who is devoted to God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17) For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12) It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) These words are recorded in the Bible. “For whatever things were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (Romans 15:4)
“But is the Word still relevant?” someone asks. Isaiah writes in Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God endures forever.”
“But I do not understand everything.” Mark Twain said: “It ain’t the parts of the Bible that I can’t understand that bother me, it’s the parts that I do understand.” Perhaps we should look at the parts that we do understand and begin to live them out in obedience while trusting God to make the rest clear to us.
“But how can Bible study change my circumstances?” Let me answer that with a quote from Charles Spurgeon: “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t”
Let’s read, examine, and study God’s Word while allowing God to reveal Himself and who He is to us and in our lives.
Sproul afgekom. Hy het eenkeer gesê: “We fail in our duty to study God’s Word not so much because it is difficult to understand, not so much because it is dull and boring, but because it is work. Our problem is not a lack of intelligence or a lack of passion. Our problem is that we are lazy.” Billy Sunday het gesê: “The reason you don’t like the Bible, you old sinner, is because it knows all about you.”
“Ken God my?” (Jeremia 1:5)
“Het God my lief?” (Johannes 3:16)
“Gee God vir my om?” (1 Petrus 5:7)
“Sal God my vergewe?”
Mark Twain het gesê: “It ain’t the parts of the Bible that I can’t understand that bother me, it’s the parts that I do understand” Miskien moet ons kyk na die gedeeltes wat ons wel verstaan en dit in gehoorsaamheid begin uitleef terwyl ons God vertrou om die res aan ons duidelik te maak.
“Maar hoe kan Bybelstudie my omstandighede verander?” Laat ek dit antwoord met ‘n aanhaling van Charles Spurgeon: “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t”

INTRODUCTION TO THE GOSPEL ARTISTS
MEET : The Martins

The Martins are a Christian music vocal trio composed of three siblings: Joyce Martin Sanders, Jonathan Martin, and Judy Martin Hess.
Music career
They were discovered by Michael English and Mark Lowry with Bill Gaither at the 1987 National Quartet Convention mid-day booth cleanup. The kids, then ages 15, 16, and 17 were singing a capella in an empty civic center after being rejected by a local record company who told them to go back home and forget about trying to make it in “the business.”
Following a weekend visit to their hometown by Mr. Howard, they signed with Mark Five Records who launched their first album release in 1990, From Arkansas With Love, produced by Eddie Howard, which quickly ran up the gospel charts. In 1990 A second album release sealed their position in gospel music and the contract was sold to Springhill Records, which would take them to an all-new level of marketing.
Originally from Hamburg, Arkansas, near the Louisiana border in Ashley County, the vocalists grew up firmly and proudly planted in the Southern gospel tradition, so it is not surprising that, as they have matured, a broad range of influences have entered their musical mix. Billboard magazine describes The Martins as “breaking down walls and blurring the lines that separate Southern gospel from inspirational, adult contemporary, and other popular Christian music formats.”
Rather than resting in a single niche among the numerous Christian music genres, the Martins have rummaged freely through a stack of style books, grabbing whatever interests them. Sometimes the different elements are unaltered and traditional, but more often they are tossed into the trio’s musical blender so that a new mixture emerges. The result has been labeled simply as Martin Music.
Their portfolio of songs includes every musical palate, ranging from innovative and refashioned hymn arrangements to contemporary songs of praise and worship. While their eclectic style draws from a variety of musical genres, the Martins are often framed and presented as a cultural phenomenon rooted in the rural Southern United States, specifically in Arkansas.
The Martins’ “big break” came in 1992 when Michael English and Mark Lowry insisted that Gloria Gaither listen to the group audition in the women’s restroom prior to a Gaither Homecoming video recording in Indiana. Gloria told Bill that he had to let them sing in the video.[4] They have gone on to appear in over two dozen Homecoming videos. The group has also recorded over a dozen albums.
In 2002, Jonathan left the group in order to spend more time with his family. Joyce and Judy then enlisted the help of Paul Lancaster, formerly with Mullins & Co., and The Nelons. In 2003, they recorded Above It All. (Which included their most popular and well-known mega-hit “The Promise”). Between 2003 and 2010, they were somewhat inactive as a group in order to spend more time with their own families, although they did reunite for concerts periodically. During this time, the three each recorded a solo album.
They often appear on the Gaither Homecoming concert tours, as well as in limited trio appearances.
Personal lives
Joyce Martin Sanders (b. January 6, 1968) lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her husband Paul, and she has two children.
Jonathan Martin (b. May 19, 1970) lives in Clive, Iowa with his wife Dara Makohoniuk-Martin and their youngest three of six children, including twin boys, one of which has cerebral palsy.
Judy Martin Hess (b. May 3, 1971) lives in Columbus, Georgia with her husband Jake Hess Jr. and their four children.

With All Eyes On Iran – Turkey Is The Real Danger To Israel

Experts are sounding the alarm over the shifting ground of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s continued consolidation of power, support of Islamist terror groups, and the threat his regime poses to Israel, the Middle East, and the free world at large.
Amid a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that jolted Istanbul Wednesday causing multiple injuries, experts are sounding the alarm over the shifting ground of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s continued consolidation of power, support of Islamist terror groups, and the threat his regime poses to Israel, the Middle East, and the free world at large.
In a signal of the Islamist regime’s ongoing ties with Islamist terrorist groups, Turkey’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin held talks with Hamas leaders over the weekend to discuss the delivery of aid to Gaza amid Israel’s continued war against the terror group there. According to The Times of Israel, Kalin “reassured them of Turkey’s ongoing support and said Turkey would firmly oppose any new efforts to occupy or annex Palestinian territory.”
Since Israel’s war on Hamas began after the terror group’s October 7 attack on the Jewish state, in which they killed 1,200 Israelis and took 251 hostages, Erdogan has repeatedly called Israel a “terrorist state,” accused it of committing “genocide” in Gaza, and claimed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “worse than Hitler.
While the Trump administration appears to be primarily focused on dismantling Iran’s nuclear program, experts say the greater threat to Israel and arguably the entire region is Erdogan’s Islamist regime. Reuel Marc Gerecht, a resident scholar at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and a former CIA operative in Turkey, contended in The Atlantic over the weekend that Erdogan is “setting the stage for a clash with Israel” by “consolidateing power at home and preparing to project it abroad.” He added that “Turkey has quickly emerged as perhaps the greatest danger to the Jewish state in the Middle East.”
Gerecht went on to detail how “Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party have cowed their liberal opponents, co-opted most of the Turkish press, purged and restaffed the Turkish military — with special zeal after crushing a 2016 coup attempt — and revamped Turkey’s intelligence service.” He further noted that in March, Erdogan “arrested and falsely charged as a terrorist the most potent political rival he has faced since becoming prime minister in 2003: the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu.” After protests broke out in Turkey as a result, “the regime has tightened its grip and arrested hundreds of demonstrators.”
Michael Rubin, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and director of policy analysis at the Middle East Forum, concurs.
“President Erdogan is already past the two-decade mark in his leadership of Turkey,” he explained during “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins” Tuesday. “When he came into office, people thought maybe he’d be a pragmatist, that he could combine Islamic democracy. Look, if you have to put an adjective before democracy, it’s not a democracy. … As he’s consolidated power, his true ideology has come through. He’s a Muslim Brotherhood acolyte through and through. And in that regard, he really wants nothing more than the defeat of the United States, the defeat of Europe, and the eradication of Israel.”
Rubin further pointed out the extent of Erdogan’s ambitions in the Middle East and the surrounding region. Some may say he wants to reestablish the Ottoman Empire because his own people, his own aides do. When you look at the maps in the Turkish Defense Ministry, for example, they include much of the former Ottoman Empire,” including places like Greece, Cyprus, and other parts of the Balkans, as well as Syria, where Turkey is “trying to almost establish a colonial presence.”
As for Israel, Rubin highlighted further cause for concern. “So many of the recent Hamas attacks on Israel, both before and after October 7th, 2023, were actually planned or financed from Istanbul, Turkey, from the former seat of the Ottoman Caliphate,” he remarked. “That is something that has really raised the concern in counterterrorism circles, not only in the United States and in Israel, but throughout much of the Arab world as well.”
Rubin underscored additional evidence that Erdogan will likely take an extremist, hardline approach to fill the power vacuum among Hamas and the Palestinians that will likely occur in the wake of the eventual passing of 89-year-old Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas.
“The statistic I always give to let people know how much Turkey has changed actually comes from Turkey’s own Interior Ministry, and that is since Recep Tayyip Erdogan came to power in Turkey, the murder rate of women inside Turkey has increased 1,400%,” he noted. “And that’s because of the sense of impunity that religious conservatives have now as they conduct honor crimes and so forth inside Turkey.”
Complicating the situation for the U.S. is the fact that Turkey is a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), a political and military alliance of North America and much of Europe.
“Turkey can be the Trojan horse inside NATO,” Rubin argued. “Why don’t we just kick Turkey out? Because there’s no mechanism inside NATO in order to kick someone out. … What I believe is happening right now is Turkey sees that it can do more for our enemies and for its own noxious ideology by remaining inside NATO to do two things. One is to block consensus and therefore basically paralyze the organization.
The second actually is even scarier, and that has to do with its nuclear program. Turkey is opening a Russian-built nuclear reactor this year. … Turkey can hide behind NATO’s Article 5 … If they are attacked, all NATO members have to respond as if they themselves were attacked. And so, what I’m afraid is happening is Turkey is using its NATO membership in order to develop a nuclear weapon, and it’s going to remain in NATO until it becomes its own nuclear power.”
Still, Rubin observed that there are ways for other members of NATO to avoid recognizing Article 5 if it concerns Turkey. “[W]hen you actually read Article 5, you have to get NATO agreeing that there has been … an attack. And so, it gives NATO members like the United States, like Germany, like France, a way out to say, ‘You know what? We don’t actually think that this qualifies for Article 5.’ So Turkey’s taking a gamble that we are going to come to their assistance. I think we should make clear to Turkey that we are not going to do that in advance.”
As to Turkey’s current approach toward building a coalition among its Islamic neighbor countries, Rubin insisted that Erdogan’s style is notably authoritarian. “It’s less of a coalition than almost like a Chinese-style ‘We are on top and you are our proxies that you listen to us,'” he described. “So when you look at what Turkey is doing, for example, in Libya or in Somalia or in Syria, they’re not approaching these states as equals. They’re approaching these states as their proxies, and they expect, in true Muslim Brotherhood fashion, that Turkey speaks and these other countries will listen.”
“But again,” Rubin concluded, “we are woefully blind if we don’t recognize and counter what Turkey is now doing.”

Anti-Woke Movement Flips The Script In Hollywood

In a market pivot that’s gone somewhat under the radar, key Hollywood players seem to be quietly turning away from the wokeism that’s financially punished the industry for years. Families in this country want more wholesome options — and, in a surprising twist, producers seem much more willing to provide them.

- Massive Explosion at Iranian Port Kills 8, Injures 750
A massive explosion and fire rocked a southern Iranian port on Saturday, purportedly linked to a shipment of a chemical ingredient used to make missile propellant, killing eight people and injuring around 750 others.

Helicopters dumped water air on the raging fire hours after the initial explosion, which happened at the Shahid Rajaei Port just as Iran and the United States met Saturday in Oman for the third round of negotiations over Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program.
No one in Iran suggested that the explosion came from an attack. However, even Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who led the talks, on Wednesday acknowledged that “our security services are on high alert given past instances of attempted sabotage and assassination operations designed to provoke a legitimate response.”

Introduction to the Bible – Bible Summary
Summary of the Book of
Proverbs
Author: King Solomon is the principal writer of Proverbs. Solomon’s name appears in
1:1, 10:1, and 25:1. We may also presume Solomon collected and edited proverbs other
than his own, for Ecclesiastes 12:9 says, “Not only was the Teacher wise, but also he
imparted knowledge to the people. He pondered and searched out and set in order
many proverbs.” Indeed, the Hebrew title Mishle Shelomoh is translated “Proverbs of
Solomon.”
Date of Writing: Solomon’s proverbs were penned around 900 B.C. During his reign as
king, the nation of Israel reached its pinnacle spiritually, politically, culturally, and
economically. As Israel’s reputation soared, so did King Solomon’s. Foreign dignitaries
from the far reaches of the known world traveled great distances to hear the wise
monarch speak (1 Kings 4:34).
Purpose of Writing: Knowledge is nothing more than an accumulation of raw facts, but
wisdom is the ability to see people, events, and situations as God sees them. In the Book
of Proverbs, Solomon reveals the mind of God in matters high and lofty and in common,
ordinary, everyday situations, too. It appears that no topic escaped King Solomon’s
attention. Matters pertaining to personal conduct, sexual relations, business, wealth,
charity, ambition, discipline, debt, child-rearing, character, alcohol, politics, revenge, and
godliness are among the many topics covered in this rich collection of wise sayings.
Key Verses:
Proverbs 1:5, “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get
guidance.”
Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise
wisdom and discipline.”
Proverbs 4:5, “Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from
them.”
Proverbs 8:13-14, “To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil
behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have
understanding and power.”
Brief Summary: Summarizing the Book of Proverbs is a bit difficult, for unlike many
other books of Scripture, there is no particular plot or storyline found in its pages;
likewise, there are no principal characters in the book. It is wisdom that takes center
stage—a grand, divine wisdom that transcends the whole of history, peoples, and
cultures. Even a perfunctory reading of this magnificent treasury reveals the pithy
sayings of the wise King Solomon are as relevant today as they were some three
thousand years ago.
Foreshadowings: The theme of wisdom and its necessity in our lives finds its fulfillment
in Christ. We are continually exhorted in Proverbs to seek wisdom, get wisdom, and
understand wisdom. Proverbs also tells us—and repeats it— that the fear of the Lord is
the beginning of wisdom (1:7; 9:10). Our fear of the Lord’s wrath and justice is what
drives us to Christ, who is the embodiment of God’s wisdom as expressed in His glorious
plan of redemption for mankind. In Christ, “in whom are hidden all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3), we find the answer to our search for wisdom,
the remedy for our fear of God, and the “righteousness, holiness and redemption” that
we so desperately need (1 Corinthians 1:30). The wisdom that is found only in Christ is in
contrast to the foolishness of the world which encourages us to be wise in our own eyes.
But Proverbs also tells us that the world’s way is not God’s way (Proverbs 3:7) and leads
only to death (Proverbs 14:12; 16:25).
Practical Application: There is an undeniable practicality found in this book, for sound
and sensible answers to all manner of complex difficulties are found within its thirty-one
chapters. Certainly, Proverbs is the greatest “how-to” book ever written, and those who
have the good sense to take Solomon’s lessons to heart will quickly discover godliness,
prosperity, and contentment are theirs for the asking.
The recurring principle of the Book of Proverbs is that those who choose wisdom and
follow God will be blessed in numerous ways: with long life (9:11); prosperity (2:20-22);
joy (3:13-18); and the goodness of God (12:21). Those who reject Him, on the other
hand, suffer shame and death (3:35; 10:21). To reject God is to choose folly over wisdom
and is to separate ourselves from God, His Word, His wisdom, and His blessings
Inleiding tot die Bybel – Bybel Samevatting
Opsomming van die Boek
Spreuke
Salomo se naam verskyn in
Salomo” vertaal.
Skrywedatum: Salomo se spreuke is omstreeks 900 vC geskryf.
algemene, gewone, alledaagse situasies.
verhoudings, besigheid, rykdom, liefdadigheid, ambisie, dissipline, skuld,
Spreuke 4:5 , “Verkry wysheid, kry insig; moenie my woorde vergeet en daarvan afwyk
nie.”
baie ander Skrifboeke, is daar geen spesifieke plot of storielyn op sy bladsye gevind nie;
van die wyse koning Salomo is vandag net so relevant as wat hulle was. so drieduisend
jaar gelede
Praktiese toepassing: Daar is ‘n onmiskenbare praktiese toepassing in hierdie boek,
God volg op talle maniere geseën sal word: met ‘n lang lewe (9:11); voorspoed (2:20-22);
