Spiritual rebirth occurs when a person places faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection and receives God’s forgiveness of sin (1 Peter 1:3; 1 John 2:2). Salvation is the state of being reborn, as Jesus says, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again” (John 3:3). Being reborn spiritually is like a caterpillar undergoing metamorphosis and emerging from a chrysalis as a new creature. Salvation is a spiritual metamorphosis with radical consequences, transforming believers’ lives. When one is born again, he or she is a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
But how can we know that we have been spiritually reborn? Is there a certain experience we should seek? A certain feeling we should have? What’s the proof of the new birth?
Paul asserts that we can and should test ourselves on whether we are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5). John says that we can know that we have eternal life (1 John 5:13). God’s Word gives believers the assurance of salvation and provides guidelines about how we can know we have been reborn.
You can know you have been reborn if you have placed faith in Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9–11 says, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, ‘Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.’” The only requirement for salvation is faith in the work of Jesus’ death and resurrection (John 6:29). Nothing and no one else can save, not even our own good works (Acts 4:12; Ephesians 2:1–10). Once a person is saved by placing faith in Jesus, then he or she can be assured of salvation (John 10:28). This is the promise of God.
To have faith in Jesus means to trust Him. We place our faith in Jesus when we recognize that we are separated from God and cannot resolve that problem ourselves, when we understand that God has provided the payment for our sins through Jesus’ death, and when we turn to Him in repentance and belief. Faith in Jesus is not simply intellectual assent to the facts of His existence, His deity, His death on the cross, or His bodily resurrection. Rather, faith in Jesus is a heart-level trust that He is who He says He is and that He has accomplished what He says He has accomplished. It is belief that salvation is by God’s grace; it is reliance on the risen Lord for that salvation.
You can know you have been reborn if you bear the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22–23 lists the qualities that believers will demonstrate as a result of being reborn by the Holy Spirit: “Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (NLT). The work of the Holy Spirit in your life is evidence of rebirth, as the Holy Spirit indwells you (John 14:16–17; 1 John 4:13) and controls you (Romans 8:9).
You can know you have been reborn if you bear marks of a changed life. People will notice a change in the life of the follower of Christ because life before salvation will look different from life in Christ. No longer will the person reborn by the Spirit want to live in sin; children of God do not desire to habitually and without remorse partake in the deeds of darkness (Ephesians 5:5–8; 1 Thessalonians 5:5). Instead, believers will seek to imitate Christ: “If you know that he is righteous, you may be sure that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of him” (1 John 2:29, ESV). Of course, no one is perfect this side of heaven, but Christians have been saved to do good works for the Lord, and those works are one evidence of their rebirth (Ephesians 2:10).
You can know you have been reborn if you demonstrate love for your neighbor. Jesus told His disciples that love would set them apart as His followers (John 13:34–35). Having love for fellow believers is a mark of a reborn person (1 John 4:20). Showing love to others, including one’s enemies (Matthew 5:44; Mark 12:31), is a quality of someone who has been born again.
Many believers can recall a specific moment in time when they placed faith in Jesus, but for others arriving at the point of rebirth may have been a longer, more convoluted process. Regardless of whether we remember the exact day, month, and year of our salvation, we can be assured of being reborn because of our trust in Jesus and His continued work in our lives. Because He never changes, Jesus can be trusted as the means and assurance of salvation (Hebrews 13:8).

Bible Teaching of the Day
In the Bible transformation means “change or renewal from a life that no longer conforms to the ways of the world to one that pleases God” (Romans 12:2). This is accomplished by the renewing of our minds, an inward spiritual transformation that will manifest itself in outward actions. The Bible presents the transformed life in Christ as demonstrated through our “bearing fruit in every good work [and] growing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1:10). Transformation involves those who were once far from God being “drawn near” to Him through the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13).
Moreover, evidence of transformation within us is seen in the way we increasingly reflect the likeness and glory of Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18). For as the apostle Paul said, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ” (Romans 8:9). To be considered as children of God, we must be led by the Spirit of God. And it is through the power of God’s Spirit that Christ lives within us. The transformed life mirrors the attitude of the apostle Paul: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
This power of transformation comes from one source. Paul said, “For the message of the cross [the gospel] is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). In speaking of Jesus, the apostle Peter, empowered by the Holy Spirit, boldly declared this truth: “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
Transformed lives begin with the gospel message of Christ, for in it is the power of God. It is the gospel that brings us salvation: “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith’” (Romans 1:16-17).
Through the gospel message of Christ, we learn “to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24). “For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God” (Romans 8:13-14).
Just before he died, the apostle Peter provided us specific instructions on how we are to live out our transformed lives: “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness … for if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:3-11).

Today’s Devotional
The phrase “transformed by the renewing of the mind” is found in Romans 12:2. Chapter 12 marks the transition in that epistle from the apostle Paul’s theological teaching to his practical teaching. The book of Romans is probably the closest thing in the Bible to a systematic theology. Paul did not found the church at Rome, but he had every intention of visiting that church on his way to Spain. As a result, Paul wrote this epistle as a way of introducing himself to that congregation and to give them an overview of the gospel and what it means in the lives of believers.
After teaching the great doctrine regarding the gospel of God’s righteousness that is ours through faith in Christ in Romans chapters 1—11, Paul begins to exhort us to godly living. How are we to live in light of the saving power of the gospel? That is what Romans 12—16 aims to teach. The practical section of Romans begins with a great “therefore.” Seeing all that God did on our behalf, therefore live like this. The first of Paul’s great exhortations is to be renewed in our minds:
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:1–2, ESV).
The phrase “the mercies of God” refers to all of what has preceded in chapters 1—11. The exhortation that Paul presents is that since we have been the recipients of God’s great mercies, we are to be “living sacrifices” to God. How do we do this? We are living sacrifices to God by not conforming to this world, but by being transformed by the renewal of our minds.
This exhortation really serves as a summary statement of all that follows. A living sacrifice to God is one who does not conform, but is transformed. We are not to be conformed to this world. Paul is using the word world here to refer to the spirit of the age. In other words, world refers to the popular worldview that rejects God and His revelation. As unbelievers, we are naturally conformed to the world (Ephesians 2:1–3). As believers, we are no longer conformed to this world because we no longer belong to the spirit of this age. We have been translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of God’s beloved Son (Colossians 1:13). Therefore, rather than continuing to conform to this world, we are to be transformed by having our minds renewed.
It is interesting to note that Paul says that we must be transformed by the renewing of our “minds.” The mind is the key to the Christian life. The reason why non-Christians do not respond to Christian truth is that they cannot discern spiritual truth (1 Corinthians 2:14). The gospel is a call for the unbeliever to repent of his sin and embrace Christ by faith. The Greek word translated “repentance” carries the notion of a change of mind. Our thinking must be changed (transformed) from old, ungodly ways of thinking into new, godly ways of thinking. What we know in our minds to be true forms a conviction in our hearts of that truth, and that conviction in our hearts translates into action. Therefore, we must first renew our minds.
The only way to replace the error of the world’s way of thinking is to replace it with God’s truth, and the only infallible source of God’s truth is His revealed Word, the Bible. Transformation through renewed minds comes as believers expose themselves to God’s Word through the faithful exposition of it each week in church, personal Bible study, and group Bible study. A solid church that believes in preaching the Word, reading the Word, and singing the Word is invaluable in helping us renew our minds.
There are no shortcuts. There is no magical formula for renewing our minds. We must fill our minds with God’s Word. As Jesus prayed to the Father, “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth” (John 17:17).

Ek weet, Here, dat U meer in die toestand van my hart geïnteresseerd is, as in my uiterlike voorkoms.
Self-Image Awareness:
When I look through old photo albums, I always laugh at the physical traits and characteristics that I inherited. Of course, I especially notice the negative traits: like being short. All of us can also identify our own less acceptable traits in our parents. But of course we also inherited positive traits. We naturally don’t pay much attention to the bad traits, but focus on the good.
According to my unscientific findings, people try all kinds of methods to overcome their physical shortcomings – they do physical exercise, follow methods to lose weight, check their makeup, dye their hair and undergo cosmetic surgery. But instead of trying to overcome our shortcomings, we make all kinds of excuses for our mistakes. I think it’s probably easier to change our appearance than it is to improve our character. But just think about how much better we would be if we spent time and attention on improving our character.
As God’s children, we are not limited by our genetic inheritance. We can surrender our shortcomings to God and allow Him to realize the potential He had for us when He lovingly created us. The power of the Holy Spirit and the love of God’s Son are at work in us, remaking us into His image ( 2 Cor. 3:18 ).
I know, Lord, that You are more interested in the condition of my heart than in my outward appearance.
Please make me the person You want me to be. Fill me with kindness, patience, integrity, and love.
The Holy Spirit creates a clear image of Christ in us.

Trump Administration’s 21-Point Plan Revealed: Pressure on Israel, Concessions for Hamas

The full contents of a U.S.-backed 21-point plan to end the war in Gaza have been revealed in The Washington Post, offering the most detailed look yet at the Trump administration’s effort to secure a ceasefire, arrange post-war governance, and push forward reconstruction. The proposal, which includes sweeping concessions to Hamas and even a pathway toward Palestinian statehood, has not been accepted by either Jerusalem or the terror group.
According to the report, the plan envisions an immediate halt to Israeli military operations in Gaza, the release of all living hostages and the remains of those murdered by Hamas, followed by the freeing of thousands of Palestinian terrorists — including hundreds serving life sentences for murdering Jews. In addition, the plan foresees amnesty and safe passage for Hamas members who agree to disarm, with Gaza temporarily administered by an international Arab security force before being handed over to a reformed Palestinian Authority.
Among the most controversial clauses, the document includes a U.S. guarantee that Israel will not extend sovereignty over Judea and Samaria, as well as the creation of a “credible pathway” to a Palestinian state once “Palestinian reforms” are complete. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the UN General Assembly last week, rejected such notions outright:
“Giving the Palestinians a state one mile from Jerusalem after October 7th is like giving Al-Qaeda a state one mile from New York City after September 11th. This is sheer madness. It’s insane, and we won’t do it… Israel will not allow you to shove a terror state down our throats.”
The plan also demands Israel refrain from targeting Qatar, which has acted as Hamas’s patron and host for its leadership, and calls for the mass inflow of international aid to Gaza under UN supervision. Hamas, for its part, has not yet officially received the proposal, though Arab media report that regional states have been briefed.
While the proposal contains several points long demanded by Israel — such as the complete disarmament of Hamas, the destruction of its offensive weaponry, and the end of tunnel-building — these are conditioned on international forces and future Palestinian commitments, leaving Israeli security heavily dependent on outside actors.
The 21 points are as follows:
Gaza will be a de-radicalized, terror-free zone that does not threaten its neighbors.
Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of its people.
If Israel and Hamas agree, the war will immediately end, with the IDF halting operations and gradually withdrawing.
Within 48 hours of Israel’s acceptance, all living hostages and the bodies of deceased hostages will be returned.
Once hostages are returned, Israel will release several hundred Palestinian security prisoners serving life sentences, over 1,000 Gazans arrested since October 7, and the bodies of several hundred Palestinians.
Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence will be granted amnesty; those who wish to leave will be granted safe passage abroad.
Aid will surge into Gaza at rates matching the January 2025 hostage deal benchmarks (600 trucks/day), with a focus on infrastructure rehabilitation and rubble removal.
Aid will be distributed by the UN, the Red Crescent, and other international organizations, without interference from either side.
Gaza will be administered by a temporary transitional government of Palestinian technocrats, supervised by an international body led by the U.S., Arab, and European partners, until the Palestinian Authority completes reforms.
An economic plan will be developed to rebuild Gaza, involving experts and strategic investment.
An economic zone will be established with reduced tariffs and negotiated access rates.
Gazans will be encouraged to remain in Gaza, but those who leave may return voluntarily.
Hamas will have no role in governance; all offensive military infrastructure, including tunnels, will be destroyed; new leaders will commit to coexistence.
Regional partners will provide security guarantees to ensure compliance and prevent Gaza from threatening Israel or its people.
A temporary international stabilization force will deploy in Gaza to oversee security and train a Palestinian police force.
Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza; the IDF will gradually transfer control to stabilization forces as security is established.
If Hamas delays or rejects the deal, the plan will proceed in terror-free zones under IDF control, which will then be transferred to the stabilization force.
Israel will refrain from future strikes on Qatar, acknowledging its role as mediator.
A process of de-radicalization will be launched, including interfaith dialogue to change mindsets in Gaza and Israel.
Once Gaza’s redevelopment advances and the PA reform program is completed, conditions may allow a credible pathway to Palestinian statehood.
The U.S. will facilitate dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful coexistence.
Gog and Magog Update
Rabbi Mendel Kessin: “UN Declaring Palestinian State is Gog and Magog”

“The UN represents the world, basically 70 nations, and therefore they must defy Israel, Rabbi Kessin said. “We are now witnessing the actual defiance of the United Nations in terms of Gog and Magog trying to overthrow Israel, which is incredible, because that is a messianic event.”
