John 3:16–18 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” Apart from the work of Jesus Christ, every human is condemned to an eternity in hell (Revelation 20:15). But God has freely offered the gift of heaven. What determines if a person goes to heaven or hell for eternity is whether that person has been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ (Romans 4; Galatians 3:23–29; Hebrews 11).
Going to hell is the default position of humanity. Going to heaven is the free gift of God’s grace, received by faith, offered to all people (Ephesians 2:1–10). God wants people to be reconciled with Him, so He provided the way (John 14:6). Every person is invited to go to heaven.
Going to heaven or hell has everything to do with God’s act of rescue. When God created the world, everything was very good (Genesis 1:31). He created humanity in His image. He provided food for them but told them there was one tree from which they were not allowed to eat. They were to trust His provision, follow His commands, remain in close relationship with Him, and experience fullness of life. But they were also free to disobey Him, which would result in death (Genesis 2:15–17; Romans 6:23).
Adam and Eve, the first humans, ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3). This act of rebellion is commonly called “original sin,” and it has lasting effects. Our relationship with God, with one another, and with the created world are broken. Death is now a reality in our world. The sin of Adam is passed down to all his descendants—all of humanity (Romans 5:12).
But even as God explained to Adam and Eve what their disobedience would mean, He promised a Savior (Genesis 3:15, 21)! One would come who would ultimately restore humanity to God.
That Savior is Jesus Christ. Jesus is “God with us” (Matthew 1:20–23). He is fully God and fully human. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin named Mary. He is God in the flesh, the one who reconciles humans and God (1 John 4:2). He is the Creator who entered into His creation in order to restore it to Himself (Colossians 1:15–19).
Jesus lived a fully human life—He was tempted to sin as we are—but He perfectly obeyed all of God’s ways (Romans 5:12–21; Hebrews 4:14–16). He willingly died on the cross as a payment for our sin (John 10:17–18; Hebrews 9:14—10:18; 1 Peter 3:18). From the cross, He proclaimed, “It is finished” (John 19:30). Jesus rose from the dead, demonstrating that He is who He claims and that He is victorious over sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:3–8, 50–57). All who put their faith in Him receive forgiveness of sin (Colossians 2:13–15). Jesus takes their sin and gives them His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:18–21; Ephesians 2:1–10). Because of that forgiveness, they will go to heaven.
Whether a person goes to heaven or hell has everything to do with God. He freely offers the gift of eternity in heaven with Him. He invites everyone to believe, to receive His rescue, and to enjoy fullness of life in Him (Hebrews 4:1–13).

God, I know that I have gone against your ways, that I rightly deserve condemnation. I know that you are loving, merciful, gracious, and just. I believe that you have made reconciliation possible. I believe that Jesus is the only Savior, and I submit to Him as Lord. I believe He is fully God, fully human, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for my sins, and rose from the dead bodily. I believe His sacrifice is sufficient for my sins and that His righteousness can be applied to me. Please forgive me. Please make me your child through Jesus Christ. Please give me your Spirit and complete your work of sanctification in me. Thank you for your salvation. Amen and Amen

Maar God het die gawe van die hemel vrylik aangebied. Wat bepaal of ‘n persoon vir ewig hemel of hel toe gaan, is of daardie persoon deur Jesus Christus met God versoen is (Romeine 4; Galasiërs 3:23–29; Hebreërs 11).
Hel toe gaan is die standaardposisie van die mensdom. Hemel toe gaan is die vrye gawe van God se genade, ontvang deur geloof, aangebied aan alle mense (Efesiërs 2:1–10). God wil hê dat mense met Hom versoen moet word, daarom het Hy die weg voorsien (Johannes 14:6). Elke persoon word genooi om hemel toe te gaan.
Om hemel toe of hel toe te gaan, het alles te doen met God se reddingsdaad. Toe God die wêreld geskep het, was alles baie goed (Genesis 1:31). Hy het die mensdom na Sy beeld geskep. Hy het vir hulle kos voorsien, maar vir hulle gesê dat daar een boom was waarvan hulle nie mag eet nie. Hulle moes Sy voorsiening vertrou, Sy bevele volg, in ‘n noue verhouding met Hom bly en die volheid van die lewe ervaar. Maar hulle was ook vry om Hom ongehoorsaam te wees, wat tot die dood sou lei (Genesis 2:15–17; Romeine 6:23).
Adam en Eva, die eerste mense, het die verbode vrug geëet (Genesis 3). Hierdie daad van rebellie word algemeen “erfsonde” genoem, en dit het blywende gevolge. Ons verhouding met God, met mekaar en met die geskape wêreld is verbreek. Die dood is nou ‘n werklikheid in ons wêreld. Die sonde van Adam word oorgedra aan al sy nageslag – die hele mensdom (Romeine 5:12).
Maar selfs toe God aan Adam en Eva verduidelik het wat hulle ongehoorsaamheid sou beteken, het Hy ‘n Verlosser belowe (Genesis 3:15, 21)! Een sou kom wat uiteindelik die mensdom aan God sou herstel.
Daardie Verlosser is Jesus Christus. Jesus is “God met ons” (Matteus 1:20–23). Hy is volledig God en volledig mens. Hy is verwek deur die Heilige Gees en gebore aan ‘n maagd met die naam Maria. Hy is God in die vlees, die een wat mense en God versoen (1 Johannes 4:2). Hy is die Skepper wat Sy skepping binnegegaan het om dit aan Homself te herstel (Kolossense 1:15–19).
Jesus het ‘n volledig menslike lewe geleef—Hy was in die versoeking om te sondig soos ons—maar Hy het al God se weë volkome gehoorsaam (Romeine 5:12–21; Hebreërs 4:14–16). Hy het gewilliglik aan die kruis gesterf as ‘n betaling vir ons sonde (Johannes 10:17–18; Hebreërs 9:14–10:18; 1 Petrus 3:18). Van die kruis af het Hy verkondig: “Dit is volbring” (Johannes 19:30). Jesus het uit die dood opgestaan, wat bewys dat Hy is wie Hy beweer en dat Hy oorwinnaars is oor sonde en dood (1 Korintiërs 15:3–8, 50–57). Almal wat in Hom glo, ontvang vergifnis van sonde (Kolossense 2:13–15). Jesus neem hulle sonde en gee hulle sy geregtigheid (2 Korintiërs 5:18–21; Efesiërs 2:1–10). As gevolg van daardie vergifnis sal hulle hemel toe gaan.
Of ‘n persoon hemel toe of hel toe gaan, het alles met God te doen. Hy bied vrylik die gawe van die ewigheid in die hemel saam met Hom aan. Hy nooi almal uit om te glo, sy redding te ontvang en die volheid van die lewe in Hom te geniet (Hebreërs 4:1–13).

Romeine 10:9–10 sê: “As jy met jou mond bely dat Jesus die Here is, en met jou hart glo dat God Hom uit die dood opgewek het, sal jy gered word. Want met jou hart glo jy en word jy geregverdig, en met jou mond bely jy jou geloof en word jy gered.”
Daar is geen spesiale gebed wat jy moet bid nie. Maar as jy ‘n voorbeeld wil hê van hoe jy kan bid om God se gawe te ontvang, stel ons iets soos hierdie voor:
God, ek weet dat ek teen u weë gegaan het, dat ek tereg veroordeling verdien. Ek weet dat U liefdevol, barmhartig, genadig en regverdig is. Ek glo dat U versoening moontlik gemaak het. Ek glo dat Jesus die enigste Verlosser is, en ek onderwerp my aan Hom as Here. Ek glo Hy is ten volle God, ten volle mens, het ‘n perfekte lewe geleef, aan die kruis gesterf vir my sondes, en liggaamlik uit die dood opgestaan. Bible Teaching of the Day
The narrow gate, also called the narrow door, is referred to by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 7:13-14 and Luke 13:23-24. Jesus compares the narrow gate to the “broad road” which leads to destruction (hell) and says that “many” will be on that road. By contrast, Jesus says that “small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” What exactly is meant by this? Just how many are the “many” and how few are the “few”?
First, we need to understand that Jesus is the Door through which all must enter eternal life. There is no other way because He alone is “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). The way to eternal life is restricted to just one avenue—Christ. In this sense, the way is narrow because it is the only way, and relatively few people will go through the narrow gate. Many more will attempt to find an alternative route to God. They will try to get there through manmade rules and regulations, through false religion, or through self-effort. These who are “many” will follow the broad road that leads to eternal destruction, while the sheep hear the voice of the Good Shepherd and follow Him along the narrow way to eternal life (John 10:7-11).
While there will be relatively few who go through the narrow gate compared to the many on the broad road, there will still be multitudes who will follow the Good Shepherd. The apostle John saw this multitude in his vision in the book of Revelation: “After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’” (Revelation 7:9-10).
Entering the narrow gate is not easy. Jesus made this clear when He instructed His followers to “strive” to do so. The Greek word translated “strive” is agonizomai, from which we get the English word agonize. The implication here is that those who seek to enter the narrow gate must do so by struggle and strain, like a running athlete straining toward the finish line, all muscles taut and giving his all in the effort. But we must be clear here. No amount of effort saves us; salvation is by the grace of God through the gift of faith (Ephesians 2:8-9). No one will ever earn heaven by striving for it. But entering the narrow gate is still difficult because of the opposition of human pride, our natural love of sin, and the opposition of Satan and the world in his control, all of which battle against us in the pursuit of eternity.
The exhortation to strive to enter is a command to repent and enter the gate and not to just stand and look at it, think about it, complain that it’s too small or too difficult or unjustly narrow. We are not to ask why others are not entering; we are not to make excuses or delay. We are not to be concerned with the number who will or will not enter. We are to strive forward and enter! Then we are to exhort others to strive to enter before it’s too late.

Die weg na die ewige lewe is beperk tot net een laan – Christus. In hierdie sin is die weg smal omdat dit die enigste weg is, en relatief min mense sal deur die nou poort gaan. Baie meer sal probeer om ‘n alternatiewe roete na God te vind. Hulle sal probeer om daar te kom deur mensgemaakte reëls en regulasies, deur valse godsdiens, of deur eie pogings. Hierdie wat “baie” is, sal die breë pad volg wat na ewige vernietiging lei, terwyl die skape die stem van die Goeie Herder hoor en Hom volg langs die nou pad na die ewige lewe (Johannes 10:7-11).
Alhoewel daar relatief min sal wees wat deur die nou poort gaan in vergelyking met die baie op die breë pad, sal daar steeds menigtes wees wat die Goeie Herder sal volg. Om deur die nou poort te gaan is nie maklik nie. Jesus het dit duidelik gemaak toe Hy Sy volgelinge beveel het om te “strewe” om dit te doen. Die Griekse woord wat as “strewe” vertaal word, is agonizomai, waaruit ons die Engelse woord agonize kry. Die implikasie hier is dat diegene wat die nou poort wil binnegaan, dit deur stryd en inspanning moet doen, soos ‘n hardloopatleet wat na die wenstreep streef, al sy spiere gespanne en alles gee in die poging. Maar ons moet hier duidelik wees. Geen hoeveelheid inspanning red ons nie; verlossing is deur die genade van God deur die gawe van geloof (Efesiërs 2:8-9). Niemand sal ooit die hemel verdien deur daarna te streef nie. Maar om die nou poort binne te gaan, is steeds moeilik as gevolg van die teenkanting van menslike trots, ons natuurlike liefde vir sonde, en die teenkanting van Satan en die wêreld in sy beheer, wat alles teen ons stry in die nastrewing van die ewigheid.

Today’s Devotional
In 2 Corinthians 10:3, the apostle Paul writes, “Though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh” (ESV). Here, Paul acknowledges the dual realities of our earthly existence. We are physical beings who participate in a spiritual war. We walk in the flesh is essential for understanding how to handle spiritual battles.
Paul’s statement, “We walk in the flesh,” emphasizes the human condition. To walk in the flesh is to have a physical body subject to limitations and vulnerabilities. Hence, Christians are not exempt from the struggles of earthly life. In this context, flesh refers to our physical body rather than our sinful nature. For example, Jesus walked in the flesh during His earthly ministry and participated fully in human experiences, yet He remained sinless (John 1:14; Hebrews 4:15).
In taking on human flesh, Jesus experienced earthly life’s limitations, temptations, and sufferings. Hebrews 2:17–18 says, “He had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God. . . . For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted” (ESV). God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), even as we walk in the flesh.
Although “we walk in the flesh,” Paul clarifies that spiritual warfare is not conducted “according to the flesh” (2 Corinthians 10:3, ESV). The distinction between walking the flesh and waging war against the flesh is critical. We have physical bodies and interact with the physical world. Still, the real battles are against spiritual enemies: “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12, ESV). While “we walk in the flesh,” we must use spiritual weapons against spiritual enemies (Ephesians 6:13–18).
In the context of 2 Corinthians 10:3, Paul defends his apostolic ministry against critics who judged him by outward appearances (2 Corinthians 10:7–10). Paul contrasts human weapons with God’s power: “The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4, ESV). While we “walk in the flesh,” worldly tactics are powerless against spiritual enemies.
Walking the flesh reminds us of the tension between our earthly lives and spiritual identity. As believers, we are called to be in the world but not of it. Jesus prayed,
I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (John 17:14–16, ESV)
We must be vigilant against the evil one and depend on God’s grace. In doing so, the Holy Spirit will formulate our priorities and guide our lives (Galatians 5:16–17).
Though tainted by sin, our physical bodies are essential to our humanity and are part of God’s redemptive plan. In 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, Paul writes, “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body” (ESV).

In 2 Korintiërs 10:3 skryf die apostel Paulus: “Alhoewel ons in die vlees wandel, voer ons nie oorlog volgens die vlees nie” (ESV). Hier erken Paulus die dubbele realiteite van ons aardse bestaan. Ons is fisiese wesens wat aan ‘n geestelike oorlog deelneem. Om in die vlees te wandel is noodsaaklik om te verstaan hoe om geestelike gevegte te hanteer.
Paulus se stelling: “Ons wandel in die vlees,” beklemtoon die menslike toestand. Om in die vlees te wandel, is om ‘n fisiese liggaam te hê wat onderhewig is aan beperkings en kwesbaarhede. Daarom is Christene nie vrygestel van die stryd van die aardse lewe nie. In hierdie konteks verwys vlees na ons fisiese liggaam eerder as ons sondige natuur. Byvoorbeeld, Jesus het in die vlees gewandel tydens Sy aardse bediening en ten volle deelgeneem aan menslike ervarings, maar Hy het sondeloos gebly (Johannes 1:14; Hebreërs 4:15).
Deur menslike vlees aan te neem, het Jesus die beperkings, versoekings en lyding van die aardse lewe ervaar. Hebreërs 2:17–18 sê: “Hy moes in alle opsigte aan sy broers gelyk word, sodat Hy ‘n barmhartige en getroue hoëpriester in diens van God kon wees… Want omdat Hy self versoek is, kan Hy dié help wat versoek word” (ESV). God se krag word in ons swakheid volbring (2 Korintiërs 12:9), net soos ons in die vlees wandel.
Alhoewel “ons in die vlees wandel”, verduidelik Paulus dat geestelike oorlogvoering nie “volgens die vlees” gevoer word nie (2 Korintiërs 10:3). Die onderskeid tussen die vlees wandel en oorlog voer teen die vlees is krities. Ons het fisiese liggame en tree in wisselwerking met die fisiese wêreld. Tog is die werklike gevegte teen geestelike vyande: “Ons worstelstryd is nie teen vlees en bloed nie, maar teen die owerhede, teen die magte, teen die hemelheersers van die duisternis van hierdie tyd, teen die bose geeste in die hemele” (Efesiërs 6:12). In die konteks van 2 Korintiërs 10:3 verdedig Paulus sy apostoliese bediening teen kritici wat hom volgens uiterlike voorkoms beoordeel het (2 Korintiërs 10:7–10). Paulus kontrasteer menslike wapens met God se krag: “Die wapens van ons stryd is nie van die vlees nie, maar het goddelike krag om vestings te breek” (2 Korintiërs 10:4). Terwyl ons “in die vlees wandel”, is wêreldse taktieke magteloos teen geestelike vyande.
Om in die vlees te wandel, herinner ons aan die spanning tussen ons aardse lewens en geestelike identiteit. As gelowiges word ons geroep om in die wêreld te wees, maar nie daarvan nie. Jesus het gebid:
Ek het hulle u woord gegee, en die wêreld het hulle gehaat, omdat hulle nie van die wêreld is nie, net soos Ek nie van die wêreld is nie. Ek bid nie dat U hulle uit die wêreld wegneem nie, maar dat U hulle van die bose bewaar. Hulle is nie van die wêreld nie, net soos Ek nie van die wêreld is nie. (Johannes 17:14–16)
Ons moet waaksaam wees teen die bose en staatmaak op God se genade. Deur dit te doen, sal die Heilige Gees ons prioriteite formuleer en ons lewens lei (Galasiërs 5:16–17).

Brood Vir Die Komende Dag:
As gevolg van werkloosheid, armoede en wanvoeding is ernstige probleme daar, sommige mense weet dikwels nie waar hul volgende maaltyd vandaan sal kom nie. Dus, elke keer as hulle gaan sit om te eet, dank hulle God en vra Hom om die volgende maaltyd te voorsien.
Hul gebed klink baie soos Jesus se gebed in Matteus 6:11. Gee ons hierdie dag oor daaglikse brood: Die woord brood verwys na enige voedsel. Die fase “hierdie dag” dui op voorsiening wat een dag op ‘n slag na hulle toe gekom het.

Bread for the Coming Day:
Because of unemployment, poverty, and malnutrition, some people often do not know where their next meal will come from. So, every time they sit down to eat, they thank God and ask Him to provide the next meal.
Their prayer sounds very much like Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6:11. Give us this day our daily bread: The word bread refers to any food. The phrase “this day” indicates provision that came to them one day at a time.
Many first-century workers were paid one day at a time, since a few days of sickness could mean tragedy. “Daily” can be translated for the coming day. The prayer would read: urgent prayer for those who lived from hand to mouth.
This prayer calls on Jesus’ followers everywhere to recognize that our ability to work and earn our food comes from God’s hand.
Lord, thank you for our daily bread
And all that You provide
Increase our faith and help us to see
That Your Supply is deep and wide for us.
Our problems are never under pressure from God’s provision.

Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists fired three missiles at Israel within 24 hours, sparking air raid sirens across the Jewish state.
Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that the Houthis would face a severe military response — likening it to the Biblical plagues of Passover — after the Iranian-backed Yemeni terror group fired three missiles at Israel within 24 hours.
“The Houthis are firing missiles at Israel again,” Katz wrote Thursday morning on X.
He cautioned that the group would be punished by “a plague of darkness, a plague of [death of] the firstborn,” adding that Israel “will complete all ten plagues” in its retaliation against the terror group.
On Wednesday morning, sirens sounded across central Israel after a missile was fired from Yemen. The projectile was intercepted, and no injuries were reported.
Hours later on the same day, additional sirens rang out in the Jerusalem and Dead Sea areas due to another missile launch. That missile was also intercepted, but an initial IDF probe revealed it carried cluster munitions.
Banned under international law, cluster munitions scatter bomblets over wide areas. Used frequently by Iran to target civilian areas in Israel during the June war, cluster munitions pose a risk of massive destruction across multiple sites.
On Thursday morning — less than 24 hours after the launch that triggered sirens across central Israel — another launch was detected from Yemen.
That missile, however, disintegrated over the Saudi desert and never reached Israeli airspace.
The latest attacks come just days after Israeli airstrikes killed much of the Houthi leadership, striking a gathering of senior officials. Those reported killed included the Houthis’ prime minister, foreign minister, energy minister, and other top figures.
Following that strike, Katz noted that surviving leaders were fleeing the rebel-held capital.
“The remaining Houthi leadership is escaping Sanaa,” Katz posted.
“Like all leaders of extremist Islamist terror, they look after themselves and abandon the residents.”

Terrorists released in previous hostage deals were especially warned, as were those who took part in the Oct. 7 massacre.
Fearing Israeli assassinations, Hamas is providing safety instructions to its operatives, Israel Hayom reported Wednesday.
The terror group’s internal security department has identified what it called a “significant escalation by the IDF” to target former Israeli prisoners — especially men exchanged for hostages in past cease-fire deals and those who took part in the Oct. 7, 2023, invasion and murder spree in Israel that sparked the ongoing war in Gaza, the report said.
The department released a video on its Al-Hares platform, set to martial music, showing a masked man walking along an empty dirt road and then sitting inside a house and using his cell phone to write or scan messages, with a red X marking those actions.
The implicit warning was that Israel can track them electronically if they use social media or make phone calls.
The video also advised operatives not to carry weapons openly, showing the man placing a handgun and several bullet clips into a black plastic bag before leaving a room.
This precaution would make them less of an obvious target to soldiers on the ground or aerial surveillance.
The actor then cleared the room of weapons, scattered a few prayer rugs and left the hideout looking abandoned — a step meant to prevent Israel from gleaning useful intelligence if the location were found.
The IDF has gained massive amounts of intelligence during the war from computers, notebooks, and even ordinary objects left behind in tunnels throughout Gaza after Hamas fighters fled Israeli incursions.
Meanwhile, in light of Israel’s recent warning that top terrorist figures living abroad are no longer safe, political leaders of Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups have begun taking stricter security precautions according to the London-based pan-Arab news outlet, Al-Araby al-Jadeed.
A Hamas source told the newspaper that the group had received warnings from several countries where members of its political bureau are located, and had called for tougher safeguards.
He said Turkey had recently increased security for senior Hamas leaders living there.
Al-Araby also cited an Egyptian source who said that his country had warned Israel against acting against Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) leader Ziad al-Nahala, who currently resides in Cairo.
