What is a Foothold?

A foothold is a secure, strategic position from which one can advance. In World War II, Allied forces invaded Normandy, France, and established a beachhead—a foothold—behind enemy lines. That foothold allowed the Allies to create a base of operations and proved to be the springboard to victory in Europe. Absent this foothold in Normandy, the Allied forces were at a distinct disadvantage, and victory would have been much more difficult to realize. The Bible speaks of footholds in spiritual terms.

Troubled Times

In his distress, the psalmist cried out to God for salvation. His situation was dire: “I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me” (Psalm 69:2). The psalmist felt as if he could not find any firm ground on which to stand, and he was in danger of being swept away by overwhelming trouble. He needed divine intervention, and fast.

Spiritual Warfare

At the moment of conversion, Christians are enlisted in a spiritual army and involved in a spiritual war as they immediately become an enemy of Satan (see Ephesians 6:10–12). The military symbolism utilized by Paul to describe our spiritual armor includes footwear: we are to have our “feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace” (verse 15). We must be sure our feet do not slip. It’s important that we maintain the foothold we have and not lose ground.

In giving instructions about how to live the Christian life, Paul warned against giving the devil a foothold: “Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold” (Ephesians 4:26–27). Satan is looking to establish a strategic position in the life of a believer. It may be through something as simple as holding on to anger. Grudges, bitterness, and the like give Satan a foothold in our lives, and he will have an easier time attacking us in other areas.

Once Satan establishes a foothold, he always looks to make further advances. He will continue to spread his lies and multiply temptations; ultimately, his foothold may become a stronghold. However, through the grace of God, the Christian has spiritual armor, and through the power of God, he or she can resist the devil (see James 4:7).

Fighting Back

Second Corinthians 10:4 states, “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”

Fighting back against Satan begins with submitting to God (James 4:7) and requires drawing near to God (James 4:8). It involves using God’s Word, the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17), and praying “in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests” (Ephesians 6:18). It is when the Christian gives God everything and refuses to give Satan an inch that he finds safety and security.

Conclusion

Satan will try to defeat the Christian by first attempting to establish a foothold in his or her life. Continued sin and un-repentance can open the door to Satan and allow him a foothold. That can be prevented as we rely on God and keep the right priorities: “No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer” (2 Timothy 2:4). Jesus is our commander. He not only solved our sin problem, but He also gives us power through the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 1:7).

Bible Teaching of the Day

In Ephesians 4, Paul encourages the believers in Ephesus to live like redeemed Christians. Because they have new life in Christ, they should live like new people, not like they did before they were saved (Ephesians 4:20–24). In Ephesians 4:25–32, Paul gives several examples of what it means to live in Christian community. One of those examples involves our anger and the devil. “‘Be angry, and do not sin’: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil” (Ephesians 4:26–27, NKJV). Some translations translate the word for “place” as “foothold” (NIV) or “opportunity” (ESV).

The word for “place” or “foothold” literally refers to a physical location. In the Greek-speaking world, it came to metaphorically mean “opportunity.” The sense in Ephesians 4:27 is metaphorical. We are not supposed to give the devil any opportunity to influence our lives. He should not have any place in our lives because he is an enemy of God and wants to destroy God’s people (John 8:44; 1 Peter 5:8).

In the context of this passage, it is our anger that has the potential to give the devil an opportunity (Ephesians 4:26). Even righteous anger, if held too long, can become bitter and divisive. The longer we remain angry, the more opportunities we are giving the devil to sow hatred and discontentment. That is why Paul tells the Ephesian Christians not to let the sun go down on their anger, so that they do not give the devil any opportunities to twist the situation with his lies and deception. We must dispose of our anger as quickly as possible, so that we do not give any place to the devil.

How do we apply this passage? We must recognize that remaining angry with people gives the devil an occasion to wreak havoc in our lives. Anything that gives the devil an opportunity to influence our lives is bad for us by default. We should follow Paul’s advice, just a few verses later, to be “kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).

Today’s Devotional

The word strongholds is found once in the New Testament, used metaphorically by Paul in a description of the Christian’s spiritual battle: “Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses [strongholds]” (2 Corinthians 10:3-4, NASB). This passage reveals the following facts about our warfare:

1) Our battle is not planned according to the way this world fights; earthly stratagems are not our concern.

2) Our weapons are not physical, for our warfare is spiritual in nature. Rather than guns and tanks, our weapons are those of the “full armor of God” and consist of “the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:14-17).

3) Our power comes from God alone.

4) God’s plan is to demolish spiritual strongholds.

What are these “strongholds” or “fortifications” we face? In the very next verse, Paul interprets the metaphor: “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). The “arguments” are the philosophies, reasonings, and schemes of the world. The “pretensions” have to do with anything proud, man-centered, and self-confident.

Here’s the picture: the Christian, wearing his spiritual armor and bearing his spiritual weapons, sets out to “conquer” the world for Christ, but he soon finds obstacles. The enemy has erected strongly fortified garrisons to resist the Truth and thwart God’s plan of redemption. There is the fortress of human reasoning, reinforced with many subtle arguments and the pretense of logic. There is the castle of passion, with flaming battlements defended by lust, pleasure, and greed. And there is the pinnacle of pride, in which the human heart sits enthroned and revels in thoughts of its own excellence and sufficiency.

The enemy is firmly entrenched; these strongholds have been guarded for thousands of years, presenting a great wall of resistance to the Truth. None of this deters the Christian warrior, however. Using the weapons of God’s choosing, he attacks the strongholds, and by the miraculous power of Christ, the walls are breached, and the bastions of sin and error are battered down. The victorious Christian enters the ruins and leads captive, as it were, every false theory and every human philosophy that had once proudly asserted its independence from God.

If this sounds a lot like Joshua fighting the battle of Jericho, you’re right. What a great illustration of spiritual truth that story is (Joshua 6)!

Sharing the gospel is not the only time we see resistance. We can also face demonic strongholds in our own lives, in our families, and even in our churches. Anyone who has fought an addiction, struggled with pride, or had to “flee youthful lusts” knows that sin, a lack of faith, and a worldly outlook on life are indeed “strongholds.”

The Lord is building His Church, and the “gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18). What we need are Christian soldiers, totally surrendered to the will of the Lord of Hosts, who will use the spiritual weapons He provides. “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7).

Always Accept:

Rejection, although painful, need not prevent us from doing what God expects of us. The people of Jesus’ hometown denied that He was the Messiah (John 1:11), and many of His followers later rejected Him (John 6:66). But just as Jesus’ rejection was part of God’s plan for His Son (Isaiah 53:3), so too was His continued ministry God’s will. Although He experienced earthly rejection, and knew that His Father would turn away from Him at the cross (Matthew 27:46), He continued to heal the sick, cast out demons, and preach the good news. Shortly before His crucifixion, Jesus said: [Father] I have glorified You on the earth by finishing the work You gave Me to do (John 17:4).
If rejection has become a stumbling block in your life, take heart! Remember Jesus understands and those who come to Him will always be accepted ( John 6:37 ).

No one understands like Jesus!

Bible Prophecy in the News

After Doha strike, Egypt calls to form Arab NATO to Battle Israel

Egypt is pushing for the formation of a united Arab military force after Israel’s airstrike on a gathering of senior Hamas terrorists in Qatar last week.

According to a report by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is seeking support among Arab leaders for a decade-old plan to form a pan-Arab military organization modeled after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

The plans for a Joint Arab Force date back to March 2015, after a civil war broke out in Yemen. The force was envisioned at the time both as a mechanism for maintaining regional stability — by creating a broad coalition to confront rebel forces and terrorist groups — and as a means of creating a pan-Arab collective defense, deterring attacks by Israel and other non-Arab states.

The plans were shelved in 2016 after no agreement could be reached regarding the mandate of the new force, its finances, its command structure, and the levels of troop contributions by member states.

However, Egypt is now looking to revive the plan, using anxiety across the Arab world following Israel’s airstrike in Doha to rekindle interest in an Arab equivalent of NATO.

A report by the state-owned United Arab Emirates newspaper The National cited unnamed sources who said that multiple Arab states are now considering the Egyptian proposal.

El-Sisi raised the subject with multiple Arab leaders over the past few days ahead of a two-day summit in Doha, during which Arab and Muslim representatives are expected to hold talks on the Egyptian proposal.

The plan, as envisioned by Egypt, would place the new Joint Arab Force’s headquarters in Cairo, which is also home to the Arab League’s headquarters.

The new force would include all 22 member states of the Arab League.

An Egyptian commander would be given control of the force initially, with control then rotating on a regular basis, giving officers from each member state an opportunity to command the joint force.

Each member state would be required to contribute troops and funds based on its size, wealth, and current military capacity. Egypt, for example, would provide some 20,000 troops for the new joint force.

The Bible Prophecy

Psalm 83:1 – 18 A Song or Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

Qatar PM urges punishment for Israel over Doha strike, says hostage mediation will continue

Qatar’s prime minister accused Israel of “state terrorism” over last week’s strike in Doha but nonetheless said his country would continue to act as a mediator for a ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, who also serves as foreign minister, said the September 9 attack targeting Hamas leaders was an “attack against the principle of mediation itself.”

He made his comments Sunday during a preparatory session for an Arab-Islamic emergency summit scheduled for the next day in the Qatari capital.

“This attack can only be described as state terrorism, an approach pursued by the current extremist Israeli government, which flouts international law,” Al-Thani said.

He argued that it was time for the international community to impose consequences on Israel, calling for punishment over what he described as crimes.

“It is time for the international community to stop applying double standards and punish Israel for all the crimes it has committed,” he said in remarks later released from the closed-door meeting.

However, he emphasized that Doha, together with Egypt and the United States, would not abandon mediation efforts.

Foreign ministers drafting a resolution ahead of the summit condemned Israel’s actions as a destabilizing escalation. A draft seen by Reuters criticized Israeli policies and warned that they could undermine peace and coexistence. However, the text stopped short of outlining diplomatic or economic penalties, leaving room for changes before leaders convene on Monday.

An updated version of the draft resolution went further, warning that Israel’s strike in Doha and continued actions could jeopardize present and future normalization efforts with Arab nations, including existing agreements.

In Jerusalem, President Isaac Herzog urged Israel to preserve its regional relationships despite disagreements.

Speaking at a national memorial, he said, “Israel must act diplomatically and with public diplomacy, with purpose and determination, not neglecting any arena, speaking with everyone, and being proactive. We must not forsake our ties. We must not burn our bridges.”

The UN will Vote on the Two State Solution. THE PLAN / THE VOTE:  Giving the Palestinians their own Country in Israel. Judea and Samaria will be Given to the Palestinian’s called Palestine.

This September, the world will take one more dangerous step toward disaster. The Beginning of the LAST DAYS

At the United Nations General Assembly, a growing coalition of nations—once counted as friends of Israel—will formally push to recognize a Palestinian state. Canada. France. The United Kingdom. Nations who once stood against terrorism are now preparing to reward it with legitimacy, flags, and U.N. seats.

Make no mistake: this is not about peace. It’s about power. It’s about appeasing an ideology that has raised its children to hate Jews and murder Israelis. And it’s about something even more sobering for believers: this is another step to fulfilling bible prophecy.

The Major Powers Behind the Push

France, co-chairing a UN summit with Saudi Arabia, has confirmed it will recognize a Palestinian state this September. Canada—once a bold ally of Israel—has caved under pressure, linking recognition to vague “reforms” within the Palestinian Authority. And the UK has issued an ultimatum: either Israel halts its operations in Gaza and abandons future annexation efforts, or London will proceed with recognition.

These decisions are not occurring in isolation. Ireland, Norway, Spain, Slovenia, and others joined the chorus in 2024. By this fall, more than 147 of the 193 UN member states will recognize a Palestinian state—roughly 75% of the global community.

In other words, the world is uniting to divide the land of Israel.

Dividing the Land = Defying the Lord

For those who take the Word of God seriously, this is no small diplomatic debate. Scripture warns—repeatedly—that dividing the land of Israel is a direct provocation against God’s purposes.

“I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for… dividing up my land.” —Joel 3:2

“On that day I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people… and all who try to lift it will hurt themselves.” —Zechariah 12:3

In their rush to impose a “solution,” the nations are sowing the seeds of divine wrath. They believe they are peacemakers, but in reality, they are playing with fire—eternal fire.

This international movement eerily resembles the prophesied global alignment against Jerusalem. And though the final chapter of history has not yet arrived, we are watching the table being set.

Practical and Moral Dangers of a Palestinian State

This is not just spiritually reckless—it’s politically insane. Here are five reasons why the creation of a Palestinian state in today’s conditions will only lead to more violence, not peace:

1. A Generation Taught to Hate

The Palestinian Authority has spent decades glorifying violence, naming schools after terrorists, and broadcasting genocidal messages on state-run media. The children of Gaza and the West Bank have not been raised for peace—they’ve been raised for martyrdom. Creating a state under this education system is not justice. It is state-sponsored hatred.

2. Terrorism Will Get Closer, Not Further

After Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005, it got rockets in return. Do we really believe that creating a terror state right next to Jerusalem will bring quiet? Recognition will embolden radicals, not restrain them. The frontline will move from the border to the bedroom communities of Tel Aviv.

3. The Palestinian Authority Pays Killers

Yes, you read that right. The PA operates a “pay for slay” policy—giving monthly stipends to the families of terrorists who kill Jews. This isn’t just an evil practice—it’s taxpayer-funded jihad. And yet the West is rushing to bless this regime with full statehood.

4. The West Is Rewarding Bloodshed

Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, slaughtering 1,200 people and kidnapping over 250. In response, what has the international community done? Sanctioned Israel. Condemned its defense. And now, rewarded the ideology that made those attacks possible by granting its supporters the keys to a nation.

5. No Real Difference Between PA and Hamas

Let’s be clear: while Hamas fires the rockets, the Palestinian Authority writes the checks and cheers from the sidelines. The ideological difference is minimal. Both parties reject the Jewish state’s right to exist. Both promote “return” fantasies that mean the destruction of Israel. Recognition won’t elevate moderates—it will hand radicals a microphone.

6. Jerusalem Will Be the Next Battleground

A recognized Palestinian state will not be satisfied with the West Bank. The heart of their campaign has always been Jerusalem—particularly East Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. Once statehood is secured, international pressure will mount to divide the Holy City. That, according to Zechariah 14, is the line God Himself will not allow the nations to cross without consequences.

The Clock Is Ticking

We are living in days of global deception. What is being sold as “peace” is in fact the reward of terrorism. What is being presented as diplomacy is, in truth, a direct challenge to God’s covenant with Israel.

The nations of the earth may gather to vote, legislate, and divide—but the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will not be mocked. His promises still stand. And those who seek to divide what He has declared indivisible will find themselves facing something far more fearsome than public opinion: the judgment of the Lord of Hosts.

Let the Church be watchful. Let the people of God be vocal. And let every believer remember: the fate of nations is not determined in the United Nations—but in the throne room of Heaven.

The 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) will open on September 9, 2025, with the General Debate commencing on September 23, 2025, at the UN Headquarters in New York. This annual event serves as a key forum for all 193 member states to discuss global issues and develop international policies.

PASTOR DIRK SAYS

a Two State Solution are Part of Bible Prophecy and Part of the 7 Year Peace agreement the Jewish Messiah aka The Antichrist arranges after Gog and Magog !!

Christmas is not the Birthday of Jesus , It started as a Saint Nicholas Day – The Truth about XMAS – Throughout history, many legends about Saint Nicholas have circulated around the world, bringing us the character we know today as Santa Claus. But who was the man behind the fictional character of Santa Claus?

Nicholas was born in the third century in the Roman Empire’s province of Lycia in modern Turkiye (Turkey). According to tradition, he was a man full of generosity and conviction. He was born to wealthy parents who left him their fortune when they died. Instead of squandering his inheritance on himself, he used it to help those in need. He even exposed a corrupt government official who hoarded grain to push its price higher.

While many have preserved stories of Nicholas’ righteous acts, few know of his sufferings for Christ.

Sometime after the Roman emperor Diocletian took power in A.D. 284, he instigated a horrific persecution of Christians. Nicholas was imprisoned for refusing to deny Jesus as God. According to Eusebius’ Church History, an edict ordered all church leaders arrested. Prisons were so full of Christians that there was no room for actual criminals. Diocletian destroyed churches and burned Scriptures, and the killing of Christians became a form of entertainment for the Romans.

Diocletian aimed to finish off the church for good, but the courage of believers martyred for their witness had caused many others to place their faith in Christ. Having failed, Diocletian abdicated the throne in A.D. 305. According to one source, he returned home to be a cabbage farmer.

Nicholas was released from prison and is believed to have died around A.D. 343, on December 6, a date that is celebrated today as “Saint Nicholas Day” in nations such as Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS – 23 RD OF SEPTEMBER

What is the real date of the Birth of Jesus?
History convincingly shows that December 25 was popularized as the date for Christmas, not because Christ was born on that day but because it was already popular in pagan religious celebrations as the birthday of the sun.
The biblical accounts point to the fall of the year as the most likely time of Jesus’ birth.
But is it possible that December 25 could be the day of Christ’s birth?
“Lacking any scriptural pointers to Jesus’s birthday, early Christian teachers suggested dates all over the calendar. Clement… picked November 18. Hippolytus … figured Christ must have been born on a Wednesday … An anonymous document[,] believed to have been written in North Africa around A.D. 243, placed Jesus’s birth on March 28” (Jeffery Sheler, U.S. News & World Report, “In Search of Christmas,” Dec. 23, 1996, p. 58).
A careful analysis of Scripture, however, clearly indicates that December 25 is an unlikely date for Christ’s birth. Here are two primary reasons:

  1. We know that shepherds were in the fields watching their flocks at the time of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:7-8).
Shepherds were not in the fields during December. According to Celebrations: The Complete Book of American Holidays, Luke’s account “suggests that Jesus may have been born in summer or early fall. Since December is cold and rainy in Judea, it is likely the shepherds would have sought shelter for their flocks at night” (p. 309).
Similarly, The Interpreter’s One-Volume Commentary says this passage argues “against the birth [of Christ] occurring on Dec. 25 since the weather would not have permitted” shepherds watching over their flocks in the fields at night.
  2. Jesus’ parents came to Bethlehem to register in a Roman census (Luke 2:1-4).
Such censuses were not taken in winter, when temperatures often dropped below freezing and roads were in poor condition. Taking a census under such conditions would have been self-defeating.
Given the difficulties and the desire to bring pagans into Christianity, “the important fact then … to get clearly into your head is that the fixing of the date as December 25th was a compromise with paganism” (William Walsh, The Story of Santa Klaus, 1970, p. 62).
Did Jesus Christ birth occur on December 25th? Can we even know when Christ was born? Should we really be celebrating His birth?

If Jesus Christ wasn’t born on December 25, does the Bible indicate when He was born?
The biblical accounts point to the fall of the year as the most likely time of Jesus’ birth, based on the conception and birth of John the Baptist.
Since Elizabeth (John’s mother) was in her sixth month of pregnancy when Jesus was conceived (Luke 1:24-36), we can determine the approximate time of year Jesus was born if we know when John was born. John’s father, Zacharias, was a priest serving in the Jerusalem temple during the course of Abijah (Luke 1:5). Historical calculations indicate this course of service corresponded to June 13-19 in that year ( The Companion Bible, 1974, Appendix 179, p. 200).

  3. It was during this time of temple service that Zacharias learned that he and his wife Elizabeth would have a child (Luke 1:8-13). After he completed his service and traveled home, Elizabeth conceived (Luke 1:23-24). Assuming John’s conception took place near the end of June, adding nine months brings us to the end of March as the most likely time for John’s birth. Adding another six months (the difference in ages between John and Jesus) brings us to the end of September as the likely time of Jesus’ birth. Pastor Dirk confirms the 23rd of September is the real Birth date of Jesus Christ his savior. for great things happens on the 23rd of September every year in Israel!

  4. Jesus never mentioned in the word (The Bible) for us to celebrate his birthday ! but its human to celebrate the Birth date of the ones we love ! So Happy Birthday Jesus !
What can I give Jesus today – Give him your Heart – Or Show Faith in Him – Believe in Jesus and His Father – YOUR HEART = This being the Greatest Gift to Him.
