The Bible, God’s Word, tells us what God is like and what He is not like. Without the authority of the Bible, any attempt to explain God’s attributes (inherent qualities) would be no better than an opinion, which by itself is often incorrect, especially in understanding God (Job 42:7). To say that it is important for us to try to understand what God is like is a huge understatement. Failure to do so can cause us to set up, chase after, and worship false gods contrary to His will (Exodus 20:3-5).
Only what God has chosen to reveal of Himself can be known. One of God’s attributes or qualities is “light,” meaning that He is self-revealing in information of Himself (Isaiah 60:19; James 1:17). The fact that God has revealed knowledge of Himself should not be neglected (Hebrews 4:1). Creation, the Bible, and the Word made flesh (Jesus Christ) will help us to know what God is like.
Let’s start by understanding that God is our Creator and that we are a part of His creation (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 24:1) and are created in His image. Man is above the rest of creation and was given dominion over it (Genesis 1:26-28). Creation is marred by the fall but still offers a glimpse of God’s works (Genesis 3:17-18; Romans 1:19-20). By considering creation’s vastness, complexity, beauty, and order, we can have a sense of the awesomeness of God.
Reading through some of the names of God can be helpful in our search of what God is like. They are as follows:
Elohim – strong One, divine (Genesis 1:1)
Adonai – Lord, indicating a Master-to-servant relationship (Exodus 4:10, 13)
El Elyon – Most High, the strongest One (Genesis 14:20)
El Roi – the strong One who sees (Genesis 16:13)
El Shaddai – Almighty God (Genesis 17:1)
El Olam – Everlasting God (Isaiah 40:28)
Yahweh – LORD “I AM,” meaning the eternal, self-existent God (Exodus 3:13, 14).
God is eternal, meaning He had no beginning and His existence will never end. He is immortal and infinite (Deuteronomy 33:27; Psalm 90:2; 1 Timothy 1:17). God is immutable, meaning He is unchanging; this in turn means that God is absolutely reliable and trustworthy (Malachi 3:6; Numbers 23:19; Psalm 102:26, 27). God is incomparable; there is no one like Him in works or being. He is unequaled and perfect (2 Samuel 7:22; Psalm 86:8; Isaiah 40:25; Matthew 5:48). God is inscrutable, unfathomable, unsearchable, and past finding out as far as understanding Him completely (Isaiah 40:28; Psalm 145:3; Romans 11:33, 34).
God is just; He is no respecter of persons in the sense of showing favoritism (Deuteronomy 32:4; Psalm 18:30). God is omnipotent; He is all-powerful and can do anything that pleases Him, but His actions will always be in accord with the rest of His character (Revelation 19:6; Jeremiah 32:17, 27). God is omnipresent, meaning He is present everywhere, but this does not mean that God is everything (Psalm 139:7-13; Jeremiah 23:23). God is omniscient, meaning He knows the past, present, and future, including what we are thinking at any given moment. Since He knows everything, His justice will always be administered fairly (Psalm 139:1-5; Proverbs 5:21).
God is one; not only is there no other, but He is alone in being able to meet the deepest needs and longings of our hearts. God alone is worthy of our worship and devotion (Deuteronomy 6:4). God is righteous, meaning that God cannot and will not pass over wrongdoing. It is because of God’s righteousness and justice that, in order for our sins to be forgiven, Jesus had to experience God’s wrath when our sins were placed upon Him (Exodus 9:27; Matthew 27:45-46; Romans 3:21-26).
God is sovereign, meaning He is supreme. All of His creation put together cannot thwart His purposes (Psalm 93:1; 95:3; Jeremiah 23:20). God is spirit, meaning He is invisible (John 1:18; 4:24). God is a Trinity. He is three in one, the same in substance, equal in power and glory. God is truth, He will remain incorruptible and cannot lie (Psalm 117:2; 1 Samuel 15:29).
God is holy, separated from all moral defilement and hostile toward it. God sees all evil and it angers Him. God is referred to as a consuming fire (Isaiah 6:3; Habakkuk 1:13; Exodus 3:2, 4-5; Hebrews 12:29). God is gracious, and His grace includes His goodness, kindness, mercy, and love. If it were not for God’s grace, His holiness would exclude us from His presence. Thankfully, this is not the case, for He desires to know each of us personally (Exodus 34:6; Psalm 31:19; 1 Peter 1:3; John 3:16, 17:3).
Since God is an infinite Being, no human can fully answer this God-sized question, but through God’s Word, we can understand much about who God is and what He is like. May we all wholeheartedly continue to seek after Him (Jeremiah 29:13).
The question of which of God’s attributes are highest or most important or “above” the others must be answered in two parallel modes. One possible answer differentiates between the attributes of God that are more important for us to understand; but we must also consider whether or not some attributes of God are more important for Him, in reality. Interestingly, when we look at the attributes of God, we find they are all unchangeably perfect, so there is no practical difference in their importance—at least not to God. However, from a human viewpoint, the way we understand God’s qualities has to come in a certain order.
In order to be truly “infinitely” perfect, a being has to be perfect in all qualities. Attributes such as omnipotence and omniscience can only exist in cooperation with each other. For example, a being could not have all possible power unless he also has all possible knowledge. He could not be all-knowing unless he was all-present. And so on and so forth. For this reason, God’s attributes cannot be ranked on a scale of importance as if some were more critical than others to who God is. All of God’s qualities are equally perfect, equally “infinite,” and equally ranked.
At the same time, human beings are not infinite, nor are we perfect. Our understanding has to come in steps and stages. For this reason, certain attributes of God must be understood before we can properly appreciate the others. When all is said and done, the starting point for understanding who God is, from a human perspective, is His holiness (see Isaiah 6:3). God’s holiness means that He is set apart from mankind, that He is something other than we are, in a radical and fundamental way. He is perfection, without a hint of unrighteousness. Before anything else about God makes sense, we must understand that God is holy—without recognizing this uniqueness, none of His other qualities make sense.
More generally, we need to understand attributes of God that are “beyond” mankind before we can make sense of those more connected to human experience. God’s holiness, sovereignty, and omnipotence, for example, are crucial foundations for our understanding of His other qualities such as love and justice. As pointed out before, God’s perfection ensures none of God’s qualities are “more” or “less” present than the others. But, in order to grasp God to the extent the human mind is able, we can arrange those qualities in a certain logical order. That begins with His holiness, extends to His power (omnipotence, sovereignty, etc.), and then to His personality (love, mercy, justice, etc.).
In order to build the case that all humanity has fallen short of the glory of God and needs to receive God’s grace through belief in Jesus, Paul asserts that God’s unseen qualities are clearly seen in creation: “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Romans 1:20, ESV). God has made aspects of who He is evident to all humanity (Romans 1:19), so that no one has an excuse for unbelief. God’s invisible attributes, His eternal power, and His divine nature have been clearly seen in creation.
It is remarkable that something invisible—unseeable, by definition—has been clearly seen in creation. But God’s creation reveals His invisible attributes (Romans 1:20). God’s eternal power and divine nature are evident through what He has made. These qualities are understandable through observing creation, and no one has an excuse not to believe. Suppressing the truth is unrighteous (Romans 1:19) because God has made the truth of who He is obvious to all.
There are many places in Scripture where we are told to look to the creation to learn about God. In Job 12:7–9 we are told that the birds, the beasts, the earth itself, and the fish of the sea can all teach us about God and that He made them all. In His hand is the life of every living thing (Job 12:10). The heavens themselves declare God’s glory and proclaim the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1). Each passing day and night reveal knowledge (Psalm 19:2). As the Creator of all things, God has intimate knowledge of His creation (Isaiah 40:12), and He has revealed Himself in His creation from the founding of the earth (Isaiah 40:21). Isaiah exhorts us to look to the heavens to see God’s handiwork (Isaiah 40:26). The heavens’ very existence is a proclamation of God’s invisible attributes, His eternal power, and His divine nature.
The Bible draws a connection between God’s creation and God’s sovereign control. Since God created all things, He has authority over all things. The biblical account of creation provides the important foundation for us to understand who God is.
In order for readers to understand their need for the good news of Jesus Christ, Paul explains that all are accountable to God. All are guilty, and all who do not believe in Him are suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. There are none who do good, not even one (Romans 3:12). Because God is the Creator, He understands what is needed to redeem humanity and all of creation. All have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), yet God justifies all who believe in Jesus (Romans 3:23, 38).
God’s creation reveals much about God. His invisible attributes, eternal power, and divine nature are clearly seen and understood in creation. We gain knowledge of who He is by examining His creation. When we observe the over 100 billion galaxies, we see the glory and might of God. When we study the intricacies of a living cell, we see the intelligence and skill of God. When we consider the 60,000 miles of blood vessels strategically placed in the human body, we see the wisdom and forethought of God.
God has also revealed Himself in the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16–17), and through them we understand that God has resolved our sin and guilt by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8–9). God’s invisible attributes seen in creation help us to know our need for God’s grace and where to look to find His provision of grace.
Adonai – Here, wat ‘n Meester-tot-dienaar verhouding aandui (Eksodus 4:10, 13)
God is onvergelykbaar; daar is niemand soos Hy in werke of wese nie.
God is ‘n Drie-eenheid.
Hy is perfeksie, sonder ‘n sweempie ongeregtigheid.

VERANDER DIE WÊRELD – BEGIN BY JOUSELF.
Changing The World:
It’s a full-time job trying to get people to change. What a perfect world it would be – if only other people would do what we want them to do! I saw a plaque one day that might hold the key to the secret of change, as it says. CHANGE THE WORLD – START WITH YOURSELF. Not what most of us want to hear! Jesus told a parable about the problem of not seeing our own faults. He said, “How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? First take the plank out of your own eye (Luke 6:42). Being able to easily see other people’s faults without ever noticing your own is not only an indication of hypocrisy. It can be a wake-up call that the problem in a struggling relationship may be me. Maybe it’s my attitude that needs to change. Or I’m the one who needs to apologize. Maybe I’m the one who needs a humble spirit. It’s a lesson that some of us need to learn over and over again. We can’t change others, but with God’s help, we can change our own behavior. And when we change our attitude, it may seem as if others have changed too.
Changing can be a wonderful prospect,
Although it often comes with resistance.
The transformation begins within us
And will take a lot of perseverance.
When God bring about change in us. Can He change others through us?

Bible Prophecy in the News
Mandatory Digital ID Is Here!

THE MOUTH OF THE BEAST = UK = England Is First Domino To Fall In New Digital Order
Just last year, the UK government promised citizens there would be no national identity cards. The idea was politically radioactive – a symbol of Big Brother surveillance, of a state watching every citizen. Yet now, the government is preparing to announce digital ID mandatory for all adults, transforming a once-unthinkable intrusion into an impending reality.
Signs of the Times
Clinton’s Dangerous Words: Targeting Christian White Men In A Culture On Edge

When a national figure of Clinton’s stature singles out a demographic–especially one defined by race, gender, and faith–she isn’t merely criticizing ideas. She is putting a target on people’s backs. She is telling millions of Americans that there is a class of villains who are inherently dangerous to society. And in today’s environment, where anger routinely spills into violence, that is a profoundly dangerous game to play.
Lutherans Warn Certain Parts Of The Bible Are ‘Harmful’

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has done it again. In a shocking display of arrogance, a spokesperson at its 2025 Churchwide Assembly publicly condemned certain Bible passages as “harmful” and “patriarchal.” In other words, the ELCA is now on record declaring that God Himself made mistakes when He inspired His Word.
Gog and Magog Update
From The Rubble To Russia (Gog) : Iran’s (Magog) Missile Comeback And Prophetic Alliances

Fresh satellite images reveal what many feared: Iran is rapidly reconstructing its missile factories, the same sites Israel had buried in rubble just months ago.
The eyes of the world are again turning toward Tehran. Fresh satellite images reveal what many feared: Iran is rapidly reconstructing its missile factories, the same sites Israel had buried in rubble just months ago. Far from being cowed by Israeli airstrikes, the regime is pouring concrete, raising scaffolds, and laying the groundwork for a new wave of military production.
And as if that weren’t enough, Iran has now signed a sweeping agreement with Russia to build nuclear power plants on its soil–solidifying an alliance that reaches beyond energy into raw geopolitical muscle.
This isn’t about rebuilding what was lost. It’s about preparing for what comes next.
The Missile Comeback
The Associated Press, analyzing Planet Labs satellite images, confirms active construction at Parchin and Shahroud–solid-fuel missile facilities bombed during “Operation Rising Lion” in June. Though the sites don’t yet have the planetary mixers required for mass production, experts warn it’s only a matter of time. China has been a past supplier, and Tehran has never lacked determination or patience.
Before the war, Iran could churn out more than 200 solid-fuel missiles a month, boasting an arsenal of some 2,500 rockets. Over a third were unleashed on Israel during the recent conflict. If Iran regains its production infrastructure, its stockpile could surge past 6,000, even 10,000 within a few years. Israeli missile defenses–Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow–may be extraordinary, but they were never designed to withstand an endless storm.
It’s no wonder Israeli officials are sounding the alarm louder than ever. Missiles, not centrifuges, may now be the most imminent existential threat.
Russia’s Nuclear Lifeline
Then comes Moscow. This week, Russia and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to build nuclear power plants, including small modular reactors, with larger projects already being discussed. Rosatom, Russia’s nuclear giant, calls the deal “strategic.” Iran insists it needs the power to fix rolling blackouts. But the geopolitical reality is clear: Russia is giving Tehran more than electricity–it’s giving it legitimacy, cover, and a technological backbone.
By embedding itself in Iran’s nuclear program, Russia ensures that any future attempt to isolate or sanction Tehran will run into stiff resistance. For Iran, it’s a shield; for Moscow, it’s leverage. Together, they are redrawing the balance of power in the Middle East.
Prophecy and Geopolitics Collide
For students of the Bible, none of this comes as a shock. In Ezekiel 38-39, the prophet described a day when a coalition of nations would rise against Israel. Persia–today’s Iran–was listed prominently, alongside allies from the north and south. Many interpreters identify Turkey with “Gomer” and “Togarmah,” while “Cush” and “Put” are often associated with North African nations stretching from Sudan to Libya. Together with Russia, they form a massive alliance–exactly the kind of bloc Iran is working to build today.
Think about it: Iran cannot destroy Israel on its own. Its leadership knows this. But what if it stood shoulder to shoulder with Russia, Turkey, and sympathetic North African states? What if Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and militias across Iraq and Syria joined the fray? Suddenly, the prophecy that once seemed distant feels chillingly plausible.
Iran’s leaders speak openly of revenge. Their humiliation in recent wars fuels their rage. But their calculation is cold: alone they cannot succeed, but with allies, they may finally overwhelm. This is the heartbeat of Ezekiel’s vision: an alliance against Israel so vast it seems unstoppable–until God Himself intervenes.
