The Bible uses symbolism to deepen the message God has for His people. One such symbol is that of potter and clay. The most detailed example is found in Jeremiah 18. God instructed the prophet Jeremiah to go to a potter’s house where God would illustrate His relationship with Israel. Verses 2–6 say, “So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, ‘Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?’ declares the Lord. ‘Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.’”
Although God allows human beings freedom to make moral choices, He demonstrates often that He is still sovereign and in control of His universe. He does whatever He wills with His creation (Psalm 135:6; 115:3; Daniel 4:35; Isaiah 46:9–11). We need frequent reminders that God is over all and can do as He pleases whether we understand His actions or not (Romans 9:20–21). He owes us nothing yet chooses to extend to us the utmost patience, kindness, and compassion (Jeremiah 9:24; Psalm 36:10; 103:4, 17). The potter working with the clay reminds us that God is at work in us “for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). Isaiah 45:9 says, “Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?”
God has created each of us the way He wants us (Psalm 139:13–16; Exodus 4:11). It is our responsibility to take what He has given us and use it for His glory and pleasure. In doing so, we find our ultimate fulfillment. Rather than live with disappointment and dissatisfaction with what God has or has not given us, we can choose to thank Him in everything (Ephesians 5:20; Colossians 3:15). Just as the clay finds its highest purpose when it remains pliable in the hands of the potter, so our lives fulfill their highest purpose when we let our Potter have His way with us.

Alhoewel God mense vryheid gee om morele keuses te maak, demonstreer Hy dikwels dat Hy steeds soewerein en in beheer van Sy heelal is. Dit is ons verantwoordelikheid om te neem wat Hy vir ons gegee het en dit te gebruik tot Sy eer en plesier. Deur dit te doen, vind ons ons uiteindelike vervulling. Eerder as om met teleurstelling en ontevredenheid te leef met wat God vir ons gegee het of nie gegee het nie, kan ons kies om Hom in alles te dank (Efesiërs 5:20; Kolossense 3:15). Net soos die klei sy hoogste doel vind wanneer dit buigbaar bly in die hande van die pottebakker, so vervul ons lewens sy hoogste doel wanneer ons ons Pottebakker toelaat om sy sin met ons te kry.

Bible Teaching of the Day
The calling of the prophet Jeremiah included these life-altering words from the Lord: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5).
The Hebrew word translated “formed” in Jeremiah 1:5 is the same verb used in Genesis 2:7 as part of God’s creative act in forming Adam, the first human, from the dust of the ground. The term is typically used to describe a potter’s process of molding clay into unique and useful pottery, as in Jeremiah 18:2–4. A master potter knows the creation he plans to form before he sits at his wheel to work, just as God knew Jeremiah before He ever started shaping him in His mother’s womb. God had set His sights on Jeremiah with plans to create him uniquely to be a spokesperson for the Word of the Lord.
The Hebrew verb translated “knew” in Jeremiah 1:5 means more than mere intellectual knowledge. It is used to describe the most intimate of relationships. Before Jeremiah was conceived in his mother’s womb, the Lord was thinking about him in the most profoundly personal way. Even before Jeremiah’s conception and birth, God chose him to be set apart as a minister of God’s Word to the nations.
Prior to his birth, Jeremiah had been “set apart,” which means he was “sanctified, made holy, consecrated.” This “setting apart” indicates the dedication of an object or individual to a specific use. In the Bible, people or items “set apart” for use by God include the Sabbath day (Exodus 16:23; 20:8), the tabernacle and its furnishings (Exodus 29:44; 40:9), and the priests (Exodus 29:1; 30:30). God knew Jeremiah intimately before conception. He placed His mark upon Him in the womb, reserving him for the specialized task of a prophet.
God also formed the prophet Isaiah “in the womb to be his servant” (Isaiah 49:5). The psalmist acknowledged that “from birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God” (Psalm 22:10). And the apostle Paul testified that God “set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace” (Galatians 1:15).
As the Lord set His sights on Jeremiah, choosing him to be a prophet, so Paul taught that God set His love upon us: “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified” (Romans 8:29–30). God’s purpose in calling people to salvation is that they be conformed into the image of His Son (Philippians 3:21; 1 Corinthians 15:49; Colossians 3:10; 1 John 3:2). As the Lord said to Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” so He says to us today, “Whoever loves God is known by God” (1 Corinthians 8:3).
Jeremiah heard the Lord say, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” as the prophet was receiving his call. At first, Jeremiah responded with self-doubt. “O Sovereign LORD,” Jeremiah said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!” (Jeremiah 1:6, NLT). Jeremiah felt inadequate, ineloquent, and too inexperienced to be God’s ambassador. But the Lord reassured Jeremiah, encouraging him simply to be faithful. “Do not be afraid,” declared the Lord, “for I am with you to deliver you” (Jeremiah 1:8).
God touched Jeremiah, putting His words in his mouth (Jeremiah 1:9), and from then on the prophet never doubted the authenticity of his call. The experience changed Jeremiah forever. Throughout his lifetime, Jeremiah proclaimed the Word of the Lord to Judah, and his ministry extended to the Gentile nations.
As believers, we can know that God is the master designer of our lives. He is the potter molding, shaping, and engineering the purpose and destiny of our story. We are all formed by His hand (Isaiah 64:8). God knew us intimately before He formed us in the womb. He chose us in Christ. He will be with us always to fulfill His purpose through our lives: “For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 1:9, NLT; see also Romans 8:28; Ephesians 1:11).

God se doel met die roeping van mense tot redding is dat hulle gelykvormig word aan die beeld van sy Seun (Filippense 3:21; 1 Korintiërs 15:49; Kolossense 3:10; 1 Johannes 3:2). Soos die Here vir Jeremia gesê het: “Voordat Ek jou in die moederskoot gevorm het, het Ek jou geken,” so sê Hy vandag vir ons: “Wie God liefhet, word deur God geken” (1 Korintiërs 8:3).

God het Jeremia aangeraak en Sy woorde in sy mond gelê (Jeremia 1:9), en van toe af het die profeet nooit aan die egtheid van sy roeping getwyfel nie. Die ervaring het Jeremia vir altyd verander. Dwarsdeur sy leeftyd het Jeremia die Woord van die Here aan Juda verkondig, en sy bediening het uitgebrei na die nie-Joodse nasies.
As gelowiges kan ons weet dat God die meesterontwerper van ons lewens is. Hy is die pottebakker wat die doel en bestemming van ons storie vorm, vorm en ontwerp. Ons is almal deur Sy hand gevorm (Jesaja 64:8). God het ons intiem geken voordat Hy ons in die moederskoot gevorm het. Hy het ons in Christus gekies. Hy sal altyd by ons wees om Sy doel deur ons lewens te vervul: “Want God het ons gered en geroep om heilig te lewe. Dit het Hy nie gedoen omdat ons dit verdien het nie, maar omdat dit sy plan was van voor die begin van die tyd af – om ons sy genade te bewys deur Christus Jesus” (2 Timoteus 1:9, NLT; sien ook Romeine 8:28; Efesiërs 1:11).

King David discovered a key to experiencing joy amid the most challenging times of life by remembering God’s past deliverance from trouble. We don’t know the exact details of David’s ordeal in Psalm 40, but he compares it to being stuck in a horrifying pit filled with mud and mire:
“I waited patiently for the LORD;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps” (Psalm 40:1–2, NKJV).
If you’ve ever been stuck in quicksand or stood on the soft ocean shore as your feet sank deeper into the sand with each wave, you know the feeling of being caught in the staggering helplessness of miry clay. Mire is deep, soft mud in water or slush, like wet loam or potter’s clay. The Hebrew term in Psalm 40:2 is translated as “miry bog” (ESV), “mud and mire” (NIV), and “muddy clay” (CSB).
David wants to convey the idea of being desperately trapped in abysmally dark circumstances. David’s metaphor reminds us of Jeremiah’s actual imprisonment in a muddy cistern (Jeremiah 38:7–13) and Joseph’s entrapment by his brothers in a pit (Genesis 37:18–22). On his own, David is powerless to escape. The only thing he can do is wait patiently for the Lord to rescue him. David may have been speaking of the same excruciating episode in Psalm 69:2: “Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me” (NLT).
David’s pit of miry clay could be symbolic of any number of distressing times he endured. Perhaps it was the crater of depression and rejection he experienced due to King Saul’s murderous jealously and hatred (1 Samuel 18:10–17; 23:15–29). Maybe it was the time his son Absolom led a conspiracy and rebellion against him (2 Samuel 15:1—18:33). It might have been the pit David dug for himself through his sinful affair with Bethsheba and then the slaying of her husband (2 Samuel 11:1–27).
Whatever the pit may have been, David has learned in times of trouble to cry out to the Lord: “Rescue me from the miry mud; don’t let me sink. Let me be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep water” (Psalm 69:14, CSB). As he trusts in the Lord and calls on God for help, David’s Redeemer hears and answers (Psalm 56:9–11; 121:1–2).
“He brought me out of the miry clay,” testifies David. The Lord delivers him by pulling him up and out of his horrible ordeal. “You brought me up from the grave, O LORD,” utters David in Psalm 30:3, “You kept me from falling into the pit of death” (NLT). “He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me,” declares David in Psalm 18:19. What David cannot do for himself, the Lord accomplishes (see Ephesians 3:20; Luke 18:27). God sets David’s feet on a solid, secure rock and establishes his steps (Psalm 27:5; 37:23; 62:2).
He brought me out of the miry clay is also a picture of Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection and the resulting salvation believers experience through Him. When Jesus Christ died, He was buried in the grave. Crucifixion was a truly “horrible pit” as the spotless Lamb of God took all the transgressions of humankind on His sinless body (Isaiah 53:4–5; 1 John 3:5).
But, thanks be to God, our Savior did not stay in the pit. “God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him” (Acts 2:24; see also Hebrews 5:7). He was brought “out of the miry clay.” Christ is alive now and lives forever. The apostle Peter explains, “He suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but he died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but he was raised to life in the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18, NLT).
Jesus Christ was raised to life, never to die again. His work of redemption is complete. We were destined to die, but through His marvelous salvation, He brought us out of the miry clay. He set our feet upon a rock, and like David, He put a new song of praise to God in our mouths (Psalm 96:1; 149:1).
Vandag se Bemoediging
Koning Dawid het ‘n sleutel ontdek om vreugde te ervaar te midde van die mees uitdagende tye van die lewe deur God se vorige verlossing uit moeilikheid te onthou. Ons ken nie die presiese besonderhede van Dawid se beproewing in Psalm 40 nie, maar hy vergelyk dit met vasgevang wees in ‘n verskriklike put vol modder en slyk:
“Ek het geduldig op die HERE gewag;
en Hy het Hom na my toe gebuig,
en my geroep gehoor.
Hy het my ook uit ‘n verskriklike put opgetrek,
uit die modderige klei,
en my voete op ‘n rots gestel,
en my gange vasgestel” (Psalm 40:1–2, NBV).
As jy al ooit in dryfsand vasgevang was of op die sagte oseaankus gestaan het terwyl jou voete met elke golf dieper in die sand gesink het, ken jy die gevoel om vasgevang te wees in die verbysterende hulpeloosheid van modderige klei. Slyk is diep, sagte modder in water of slyk, soos nat leem of pottebakkersklei. Die Hebreeuse term in Psalm 40:2 word vertaal as “modderige moeras” (ESV), “modder en slyk” (NIV), en “modderige klei” (CSB).
Dawid wil die idee oordra van desperaat vasgevang wees in afgryslik donker omstandighede. Dawid se metafoor herinner ons aan Jeremia se werklike gevangenskap in ‘n modderige put (Jeremia 38:7–13) en Josef se vasgevang deur sy broers in ‘n put (Genesis 37:18–22). Op sy eie is Dawid magteloos om te ontsnap. Die enigste ding wat hy kan doen, is om geduldig te wag vir die Here om hom te red. Dawid het moontlik van dieselfde pynlike episode in Psalm 69:2 gepraat: “Al hoe dieper ek in die modder wegsak; ek kan geen vastrapplek vind nie. Dawid se put van modderige klei kan simbolies wees van enige aantal benarde tye wat hy verduur het. Miskien was dit die krater van depressie en verwerping wat hy ervaar het as gevolg van koning Saul se moorddadige jaloesie en haat (1 Samuel 18:10–17; 23:15–29). Miskien was dit die tyd toe sy seun Absalom ‘n sameswering en rebellie teen hom gelei het (2 Samuel 15:1–18:33). Dit kon die put gewees het wat Dawid vir homself gegrawe het deur sy sondige verhouding met Betseba en toe die doodmaak van haar man (2 Samuel 11:1–27).
Wat die put ook al mag gewees het, Dawid het in tye van benoudheid geleer om tot die Here uit te roep: “Red my uit die modderige modder; laat my nie sink nie; laat my gered word van die wat my haat en uit die diep water” (Psalm 69:14). Terwyl hy op die Here vertrou en God om hulp aanroep, hoor en antwoord Dawid se Verlosser (Psalm 56:9–11; 121:1–2).
“Hy het my uit die modderige klei gebring,” getuig Dawid. Die Here verlos hom deur hom op te trek en uit sy verskriklike beproewing te kom. “U het my uit die doderyk gebring, o HERE,” sê Dawid in Psalm 30:3, “U het my van die dood bewaar” (NLT). “Hy het my uitgelei in ‘n ruim plek; Hy het my gered, want Hy het in my welgeval,” verklaar Dawid in Psalm 18:19. Wat Dawid nie vir homself kan doen nie, doen die Here (sien Efesiërs 3:20; Lukas 18:27). God plaas Dawid se voete op ‘n soliede, vaste rots en bevestig sy gange (Psalm 27:5; 37:23; 62:2).
Hy het my uit die modderige klei gebring, is ook ‘n beeld van Jesus Christus se dood, begrafnis en opstanding en die gevolglike verlossing wat gelowiges deur Hom ervaar. Toe Jesus Christus gesterf het, is Hy in die graf begrawe. Kruisiging was werklik ‘n “verskriklike put” aangesien die vlekkelose Lam van God al die oortredings van die mensdom op Sy sondelose liggaam geneem het (Jesaja 53:4–5; 1 Johannes 3:5).
Maar, dank God, ons Verlosser het nie in die put gebly nie. “God het Hom uit die dood opgewek en Hom van die pyn van die dood bevry, want die dood kon Hom nie vashou nie” (Handelinge 2:24; sien ook Hebreërs 5:7). Hy is “uit die modderige klei” gebring. Christus leef nou en leef vir ewig. Die apostel Petrus verduidelik: “Hy het eenmaal vir altyd vir ons sondes gely. Hy het nooit gesondig nie, maar Hy het vir sondaars gesterf om julle veilig by God te bring. Hy het die fisiese dood gely, maar Hy is deur die Gees opgewek” (1 Petrus 3:18).
Jesus Christus is opgewek om nooit weer te sterf nie. Sy verlossingswerk is voltooi. Ons was bestem om te sterf, maar deur Sy wonderlike verlossing het Hy ons uit die modderige klei gebring. Hy het ons voete op ‘n rots geplaas, en soos Dawid, het Hy ‘n nuwe loflied tot eer van God in ons monde gelê (Psalm 96:1; 149:1).

Alhoewel ek nie op soek was om ń huis te koop nie, het daardie bord my belangstelling gaande gemaak. Wat sou tog daardie huis so pragtig binnekant maak ?
En toe dink ek skielik aan iets: Kon daardie bord ons, as Christene, van toepassing wees ? Dink ń bietjie daaroor na. Maak nie saak hoe ons van buite lyk nie, maar van binne behoort daar iets besonders te wees, iets wat God se liefde en sy werk in ons lewens bekendstel.
Wat sê die Bybel van innerlike skoonheid ? Miskien moet ons met Romeine 7:22 begin: “Diep in my wese vind ek vreugde in die wet van God. Ń paar verse verder in Romeine 8:6 praat Paulus van ń geesvervulde denke wat deur “lewe en vrede gekenmerk word. En in Galasiërs lees ons dat as ons die Gees toelaat om beheer van ons lewens oor te neem sal die vrug van die gees (Gal 5:22) pragtige einskappe soos liefde, vreugde, vrede, geduld en goedhartigheid tevoorskyn bring.
Om vreugde in die skrif te vind en toe te laat dat die Gees in ons werk, sal maak dat ons mooi van binne is – en dit sal lei tot ń lewe wat die Here verheerlik.
Geregtigheid in die hart bring skoonheid van karakter na vore.
Beautiful Inside:
It was a very ordinary house on a busy highway. With no special features, one could just ignore it. But as I was driving by the other day, I saw a For Sale sign on the side of the road. Attached to the sign was a smaller notice that announced with equal positiveness: “I am beautiful inside.”
Although I wasn’t looking to buy a house, that sign piqued my interest. What would make that house so beautiful inside?
And then something suddenly occurred to me: Could that sign apply to us, as Christians? Think about it for a moment. No matter what we look like on the outside, there should be something special on the inside, something that introduces God’s love and his work in our lives.
What does the Bible say about inner beauty? Perhaps we should start with Romans 7:22: “Deep within me I delight in the law of God. A few verses later in Romans 8:6 Paul speaks of a spirit-filled mind that is characterized by “life and peace.” And in Galatians we read that if we allow the Spirit to take control of our lives, the fruit of the spirit (Gal 5:22) will bring forth beautiful qualities such as love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness. Finding joy in Scripture and allowing the Spirit to work in us will make us beautiful on the inside—and this will lead to a life that glorifies the Lord.
Righteousness in the heart brings forth beauty of character.

Trump , Netanyahu and the Jewish Messiah aka the Antichrist = The Board of Peace.

Over the past 24 hours, the high-stakes meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former President Donald Trump has taken on historic significance—not only for Gaza, but for Israel’s broader sovereignty agenda. Amid their discussions, Netanyahu secured key edits to Trump’s Gaza plan that slow and limit Israel’s withdrawal. Meanwhile, in a masterstroke of diplomatic framing, Trump announced an international oversight body dubbed the “Board of Peace.”
Trump introduced “the Board of Peace”. He stipulated that he would personally chair the body, which will include global leaders such as former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Board is to work with institutions like the World Bank, recruiting and training a new Gaza governance body made up of Palestinians and qualified experts. The board would entirely exclude Hamas or members of other terrorist groups. Under the plan, a technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee will run Gaza’s daily affairs, guided and overseen by the Board of Peace. The Board will set funding, frameworks, and benchmarks, limiting Gaza’s autonomy until reforms allow handover to the Palestinian Authority, should the PA finally reject violence.
Trump has made statements declaring he would “not allow [Israeli] annexation of the West Bank.” Hamas has rejected all previous proposals and has yet to respond to Trump’s recent plan.
Under previous administrations, a policy of promoting a “two-state solution” patterned after the catastrophic Oslo “land-for-peace” model that led to the Hamas takeover of Gaza in 2007. A “two-state solution” would create an unprecedented militarized Arab state inside Israel’s borders, ethnically cleansed of Jews, with its exclusively Muslim capital in Jerusalem.
A snap poll conducted on behalf of i24NEWS Monday night found that fully two-thirds (67%) of Israelis back the Trump plan, compared to just 23% who oppose it, with 10% who had no opinion. The poll was conducted by the Direct Polls firm, operated by Shlomo Filber, a Netanyahu confidant and former advisor. The survey was conducted online, polling 520 Israeli adults, both Arabs and Jews. At the recent United Nations General Assembly, several countries unilaterally declared a “Palestinian state” in an initiative that ran counter to international law and precedent.
Donald Trump announced on Monday that a Gaza peace deal was “beyond very close”, presenting a 21-point plan to end the war as Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu backed the plan.
Under the proposal, Israel would ultimately withdraw, and Gaza would be governed by a transitional government responsible for the day-to-day running of public services, overseen by an international body called the “Board of Peace”.
Ultimately, the proposals suggest, the interim government could be replaced by a reformed Palestinian Authority, though questions around a future Palestinian state remain unanswered.
Who would be on the Board of Peace?
The board would be headed and chaired by Mr Trump. Former British prime minister Sir Tony Blair would also have a central role – as yet undefined. Sir Tony said the plans were “the best chance of ending two years of war, misery and suffering”.
Still, little is known about the exact shape of the board. “Members and heads of state” are still “to be announced”, Monday’s plan teased. Mr Trump has been as vague in referring only to Sir Tony “and some others”.
