Jesus saves is a popular slogan on bumper stickers, signs at athletic events, and even banners being pulled across the sky by small airplanes. Sadly, few who see the phrase Jesus saves truly understand what it means. Those two words pack a tremendous amount of power and truth.

Jesus saves, but who is Jesus?
Most people understand that Jesus was a man who lived in Israel about 2,000 years ago. Virtually every religion in the world views Jesus as a good teacher and/or a prophet. And while Jesus was truly a good teacher and a prophet, those job descriptions do not capture who Jesus truly is, nor do they explain how or why Jesus saves. Jesus is God in human form (John 1:1, 14). He came to Earth as a true human being (1 John 4:2) in the person of Jesus Christ in order to save us. That brings up the next question: why do we need to be saved?

Jesus saves, but why do we need to be saved?
The Bible declares that every human being who has ever lived has sinned (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23). To sin is to do anything in thought, word, or deed that contradicts God’s perfect and holy character. Because of our sin, we are separated from God and deserve judgment from God (John 3:18, 36). God is perfectly just, so He cannot allow sin to go unpunished. Since God is the infinite and eternal Creator, all sin is ultimately against Him (Psalm 51:4), and only an infinite and eternal punishment is sufficient. Eternal death—separation from God—is the only just punishment for sin. That is why we need to be saved.

Jesus saves, but how does He save?
Because we have sinned against an infinite God, either a finite person (each one of us) must pay for our sins for an infinite amount of time, or an infinite Person (Jesus) must pay for our sins one time. There is no other option. Jesus saves us by dying in our place. Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself on our behalf, paying the infinite and eternal penalty only He could pay (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 2:2). Jesus took the punishment that we deserve in order to save us from an eternal destiny separated from God. Because of His great love for us, Jesus laid down His life (John 15:13), paying the penalty that we had earned, but could not pay. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, demonstrating that His death was indeed sufficient to pay for our sins and that His life conquers death on our behalf (1 Corinthians 15).

Jesus saves, but whom does He save?
Jesus saves all who will receive His gift of salvation by faith. Jesus saves all those who cease trying to save themselves and fully trust in His sacrifice alone as the payment for sin (John 3:16; Acts 16:31). Jesus’ sacrifice was sufficient to pay for the sins of all humanity, but His gift of salvation is only received through faith (John 1:12). We must trust Him.

If you now understand what it means that Jesus saves, and you want to trust in Him as your personal Savior, you can, as an act of faith, communicate the following to God: “God, I know that I am a sinner, and I know that because of my sin I deserve to be eternally separated from you. Even though I do not deserve it, thank you for loving me and providing the sacrifice for my sins through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, and I trust in Him alone to save me. From this point forward, help me to live my life for you instead of for sin. Help me to live the rest of my life in gratitude for the wonderful salvation you have provided. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me!”

Jesus is God in menslike vorm (Johannes 1:1, 14).

Bible Teaching of the Day

In Matthew 1:18–21 Joseph was visited by an angel through a dream and was instructed to marry Mary. Joseph was of a mind to divorce her quietly, saving her from public disgrace, thinking she had become pregnant by another man. Yet the angel reassured Joseph that her pregnancy was from the Holy Spirit. Joseph was told, “Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:20–21).

Joseph and Mary were both instructed by God through angels to name the child miraculously conceived Jesus (Matthew 1:21; Luke 1:31). The angel specifically told Joseph why they were to name Him Jesus: “You are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21, emphasis added). Jesus means “Yahweh saves” or “Yahweh is salvation.” It is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew name Joshua. Jesus did not come to save the Jews from political oppression or social ills or wrong thinking. His mission in coming to earth was to save His people from their sins.

Jesus’ name not only proclaimed His mission, but it also confirmed His deity and the efficacy of His mission. “Yahweh saves.” Sin brought death and separated us from God (Romans 5:12). But Jesus’ “righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people” (Romans 5:18). Jesus is God eternal (John 1:1–3), yet He became flesh, lived a sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; 1 John 3:5), and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice on our behalf (1 Corinthians 15:3; Colossians 1:22; Hebrews 10:10). Jesus’ death eternally conquered sin and death and provided the atoning sacrifice for the entire world (1 John 2:2). All who believe in Him will be saved (John 3:16; Acts 16:31). Since only God can save and Jesus came to save His people from their sin, Jesus’ name confirms He is God. And His purpose was successful: He provided the only way for people to be saved from their sins.

God intentionally sent Jesus to fulfill His plan of redemption “when the set time had fully come” (Galatians 4:4). The Messiah’s coming was prophesied long before He was born. Jesus’ mission and name are connected to the prophecy from Isaiah 7:14. Matthew makes the connection explicit: “All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: ‘The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’)” (Matthew 1:22–23). Jesus is not the same name as Immanuel. So how did naming Him Jesus (because He will save His people from their sins) fulfill the prophecy about calling Him Immanuel?

Immanuel is one of the many “names” or titles given to Jesus in the Old and New Testaments. Immanuel was not His given name, just as He was not named “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). Instead, Jesus was His given name. Jesus fulfilled the meaning of His given name while also fulfilling the meaning of Immanuel, “God with us.” Indeed, God became one of us (John 1:14) and provided the only way for people to be saved from their sins.

The name of Jesus is essential to who He is and His mission. Jesus was given His name because He would save His people from their sins. That is what He did and continues to do. Acts 4:12 says, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Those who have been saved now live to proclaim this salvation (Matthew 28:19–20) and to glorify the One who came to save us: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17).

Jesus beteken “Yahweh red” of “Yahweh is verlossing.”

Immanuel was nie Sy gegewe naam nie, net soos Hy nie genoem is as “Wonderbare Raadsman, Magtige God, Ewige Vader, Vredevors” (Jesaja 9:6) nie. In plaas daarvan was Jesus Sy gegewe naam.

Today’s Devotional

The Bible says that, if salvation were based on our own efforts, no one could be saved: “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Psalm 143:2 adds, “No one living is righteous before you.” Romans 3:10 affirms, “There is no one righteous, not even one.”

We cannot save ourselves. Instead, we are saved when we believe in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8–9 teaches, “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” We are saved by God’s grace, and grace, by definition, cannot be earned. We do not deserve salvation; we simply receive it by faith.

God’s grace is enough to cover all sin (Romans 5:20). The Bible is filled with examples of people who were saved from sinful backgrounds. The apostle Paul wrote to Christians who had formerly been living in a variety of sinful conditions, including sexual immorality, idolatry, adultery, homosexuality, thievery, greed, and drunkenness. But Paul tells them that, upon salvation, “You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11).

The apostle Paul himself had been a persecutor of Christians, approving of the death of Stephen (Acts 8:1) and arresting Christians and throwing them into prison (Acts 8:3). He would later write, “Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst” (1 Timothy 1:13–15).

God often chooses to save unlikely candidates to serve His purposes. He saved a thief on a cross with only minutes to live (Luke 23:42–43), a persecutor of the church (Paul), a fisherman who had denied Him (Peter), a Roman soldier and his family (Acts 10), a runaway slave (Onesimus in Philemon), and many others. There is no one beyond God’s ability to save (see Isaiah 50:2). We must respond in faith and receive His free gift of eternal life.

Who can be saved? One thing is for certain—you can, if you receive Jesus Christ as your Savior! If you are not certain you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, you can respond right now in prayer. Saying a prayer is simply a way of declaring to God that you are relying on Jesus Christ as your Savior. There are no magical words that result in salvation. It is only faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection that can save us. If you understand that you are a sinner and in need of salvation through Jesus Christ, here is a prayer you can pray to God:

“God, I realize I am a sinner and could never reach heaven by my own good deeds. Right now I place my faith in Jesus Christ as God’s Son who died for my sins and rose from the dead to give me eternal life. Please forgive me of my sins and help me to live for you. Thank you for accepting me and giving me eternal life. Amen and Amen ”

Dis glo ń aanhaling uit The Wizard of Oz.

Love to Love:

“A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others,” I saw this quote on a poster in a gift shop. It is said to be a quote from The Wizard of Oz.
The Wizard of Oz may be a good story, but it is certainly not a reliable source for spiritual information. God said something quite different. According to Him, the greatest commandment for us is to love – first Him and then others (Mark 12:29-31). The Bible says nothing about expecting that love to be reciprocated. In fact, Jesus said the exact opposite in his Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven ( Matt 5:11-12 ).
When it comes to love, the most important thing we need to know is that all love begins with God ( 1 John 4:19 ). As Moses told the Israelites, it was God’s delight to show his love to them ( Deut 10:15 ) and therefore He expected them to love others as well, even strangers ( vs 19 ). God’s plan is that those who share his love will pass it on to others.
Apart from God – He Himself is love – none of us could love others and would have loved us either ( 1 John 4:7-8 ).

He who does not love does not know God, because God is love – 1 John 4:8.

Bible Prophecy in the News

9 Signs That The United States And NATO Are Both Preparing For War

War on a large scale takes time to prepare. You have to prepare in advance and there are plenty of long terms plans being made by multiple countries in anticipation of an expanded war as early as next year.

The only way that Russia could possibly be defeated in Ukraine would be if western forces get directly involved in the conflict. Sadly, it appears that events are rapidly taking us in that direction. When long-range missiles that are provided by western countries and that are guided to their targets by western countries start slamming into Moscow, it is likely that the Russians will respond with overwhelming force.

That will give western countries all the justification that they need to officially enter the war, and then we will be just one step away from a nuclear apocalypse.

The following are 9 signs that the United States and NATO are both preparing for war…

1 Keith Kellogg has told Fox News that President Trump has given Ukraine authorization to conduct long-range missile strikes deep inside Russian territory…

“Are you saying it is the President’s position that Ukraine can conduct long-range strike into Russia? That that has been authorized by the President?” the Fox News host asked Kellogg.

“I think reading what he has said and reading what Vice President Vance has said as well as Secretary Rubio, the answer is, yes,” Kellogg said in response.

2 According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pentagon is asking firms that produce missiles for the U.S. military to “double or even quadruple production rates”…

The Pentagon, alarmed at the low weapons stockpiles the U.S. would have on hand for a potential future conflict with China, is urging its missile suppliers to double or even quadruple production rates on a breakneck schedule.

The push to speed production of the critical weapons in the highest demand has played out through a series of high-level meetings between Pentagon leaders and senior representatives from several U.S. missile makers, according to people familiar with the matter. Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg is taking an unusually hands-on role in the effort, called the Munitions Acceleration Council, and calls some company executives weekly to discuss it, some of the people said.

3 It has been confirmed that the U.S. is strongly considering sending long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine…

U.S. Vice President JD Vance has acknowledged that the White House is actively considering proposals to sell Tomahawk missiles to European allies for use in Ukraine.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, Vice President Vance said that the Trump administration is “looking at” sending long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, as Washington seeks to ramp up pressure on Moscow to come to the negotiating table and come to a peace agreement to end the bloody conflict.

“It’s something the President’s going to make the final determination on,” Vance said of the Tomahawks. “I’ll let the president speak to it, but I know that we’re having conversations this very minute about that issue.”

Tomahawk cruise missiles can travel 1,000 miles, and they would be a very serious threat to the city of Moscow.

It is expected that Vladimir Putin is expected to address this threat during a “major speech” that he is scheduled to deliver next week…

Vladimir Putin is set to make a “major speech” in what the Kremlin is promising to be an “interesting week”. The announcement comes following remarks by the US Vice President J D Vance on Friday, in which he said Donald Trump was considering a request to supply Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dropped the cryptic message in an interview on Sunday with the Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin. “The President will deliver a fairly major speech next week,” he said. “We will announce what it will be about, as well as exactly when and where. But the week will be interesting.”

It is also being reported that conscription of soldiers for the Russian military has reached the highest level in nine years…

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday ordered the conscription of 135,000 men by the end of 2025, the largest conscription drive in nine years.

4 Denmark is suddenly calling up hundreds of reservists…

In Denmark, reservists were urgently called up for service on Sunday, September 28. This decision was made due to drones in Danish airspace, according to TV2.

According to sources cited by the news agency, “several hundred” reservists were called up for service. The summons explicitly states that the decision was made due to incidents involving unidentified drones. Soldiers were instructed to report as quickly as possible.

The outlet’s interlocutors added that the call-up of reservists was carried out to prepare for their possible deployment within Denmark.

5 NATO forces in the Baltic Sea are in a state of “enhanced vigilance”…

A spokesperson for Nato said it has “enhanced vigilance” in the Baltic Sea following the intrusions.

The reinforced measures “include multiple intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platforms and at least one air-defence frigate” in the region to the west of Russia, alliance spokesman Martin O’Donnell said.

6 French hospitals have been instructed to prepare for mass casualties by March 2026…

French hospitals have been told to prepare a potential armed conflict in Europe by next year, local media reported.

In a letter sent to regional health agencies, revealed by Le Canard Enchaîné , the Ministry of Health asked hospitals to prepare for a “major (military) engagement” by March 2026.

The newspaper warned that between 10,000 and 50,000 men could be expected in hospitals over a period of 10 to 180 days.

7 Germany is preparing to treat up to 1,000 wounded troops per day…

Germany’s armed forces are planning how to treat a potential 1,000 wounded troops per day should a large-scale conflict between NATO and Russia break out.

Moscow has rejected any suggestions it might be preparing for a war with the Western military alliance, but the latest incursions of Russian jets and drones into NATO territory have raised fears of escalation.

Germany’s Surgeon General Ralf Hoffmann said the number of wounded troops in a potential conflict would depend on the intensity of battle and which military units were involved.

8 On Tuesday, President Trump, the Secretary of War, and every general and admiral in our military will be gathered at a military base in Virginia…

President Donald Trump is set to attend Tuesday’s unprecedented all-hands meeting of U.S. military commanders in Quantico, Va., he said Sunday.

As speculation swirls over why generals and flag officers from around the world were summoned, Trump insisted the purpose was celebratory.

“It’s really just a very nice meeting talking about how well we’re doing militarily, talking about being in great shape, talking about a lot of good, positive things. It’s just a good message,” Trump told NBC News.

9 A fleet of U.S. tankers just made the long journey across the Atlantic Ocean…

Flight trackers have spotted a fleet of US air tankers crossing the Atlantic just as Donald Trump prepares to meet with generals and admirals on Tuesday.

Around a dozen KC-135R/T Stratotankers were making the journey on Sunday night, with several en route to RAF Mildenhall – a major Air Force base in England, open-source intelligence (OSINT) accounts reported on X.

The presence of air tankers can indicate that the US or Nato is addressing an urgent military requirement for fighter jet refueling capacity.

The last time we witnessed a deployment of tankers of this magnitude, we bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities…

The deployment carries ominous weight, according to three Defense Department sources – two former, one current – who spoke to the Daily Mail on condition of anonymity.

The last time the US moved tankers in comparable numbers was five days before American warplanes struck Iran’s nuclear facilities. Trump is meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday.

Each one of the items in this list is certainly noteworthy.

But when you put them all together, a very alarming picture emerges.

Something is up.

2025 has been a year of war, but the vast majority of the population is simply not prepared for what is coming next.

A nightmare scenario is literally playing out right in front of our eyes, but even at this very late hour most people are still sleeping.

Lessons From Oslo – Why Trumps Peace Plan Will Repeat History

The Trump peace plan has reasonable benchmarks. But the problem is simple: Every single one of these measures has already been tried. They were called the Oslo Accords. And they failed miserably after the Palestinians violated every one of their obligations. This will not be any different.
