Bible Verse and Prayer for Today
If serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
—Joshua 24:15
While we can’t speak for everyone in our family, we can commit to what everyone in our family should desire: We will serve the Lord! But more than commit, let’s set the example and lead the way. “I will serve the Lord, TODAY!” Then we can ask them to join us.
PRAYER
Give me wisdom, O tender Shepherd, on how to lead my family to love you more. Please bless my parents and thank you for their faith. Please give me courage and sensitivity so that I can effectively share your truth with my children. O God, please bless those parents who are seeking to raise godly children that will someday marry the children you’ve given me. I want my house to be a place where you are known, appreciated, honored, and loved. In Jesus’ name I humbly ask it. Amen and Amen
Bybel Vers en Gebed vir Vandag
As dit vir julle onwenslik lyk om die Here te dien, kies dan vandag vir julleself wie julle sal dien… Wat my en my huishouding betref, ons sal die Here dien.
—Josua 24:15
“Ek sal die Here dien, VANDAG!”
GEBED
In Jesus se Naam vra ek dit nederig. Amen en Amen

Bible Teaching of the Day
God did not create sin, but He created beings with free will who have the ability to sin. This includes Satan, fallen angels (demons), and humans. To be clear, sin is a falling short of God’s standards. Sin is not an entity or a thing that “exists”; it has no independent being. Rather, sin is a lack of something, a failure to fully obey God’s law and live up to His glory (Romans 3:23).
When He created the universe and our world, “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (Genesis 1:31; cf. 1 Timothy 4:4). This “very good” creation included humanity and the angel that would later become known as Satan. At this point, no humans or angels had yet sinned, but they had the potential to do so. God did not create any being sinful, yet a group of angels rebelled against God in heaven and became sinful.
Satan’s fall from heaven is symbolically described in Isaiah 14:12–14 and Ezekiel 28:12–19. An angel named Lucifer wanted to “ascend to the heavens” and be “above the stars of God” (Isaiah 14:13). Verse 14 adds he desired to make himself “like the Most High.” God judged Lucifer by removing him from God’s ongoing presence (Isaiah 14:15). That fallen angel is now known as Satan (“adversary”) or the devil (“slanderer”).
In Ezekiel, we find Satan was created as a perfect, wise, and beautiful angel (Ezekiel 28:14). But then Satan rebelled: “You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you” (verse 15). That’s when the situation changed. Scripture hints at the reason Satan chose to sin: “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor” (verse 17; cf. 1 Timothy 3:6). Satan’s fall took place at some point before he came as a serpent to tempt Eve in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 3. After being thrown to the earth (Ezekiel 28:17), Satan tempted humanity to sin, and he has continued that practice ever since (see Matthew 4:1–11).
Since Adam’s sin, humans have inherited Adam’s spiritual corruption and have been born with a sin nature. We are naturally inclined to sin (Romans 6 – 7; James 1:13–15). But in Christ Jesus we can be forgiven of our sins. “God made [Jesus] who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). We receive forgiveness from the eternal penalty of sin when we put our faith in Jesus. We also receive freedom from slavery to sin and can learn, by yielding to the Holy Spirit, to live righteously. This process of acting less like Adam and more like Christ is called sanctification.
Some have wondered why God created beings who could sin. Why didn’t He create angels and humans without the ability to sin? The alternative would be to create beings unable to choose right and wrong. But, in that case, angels and humans would be like robots, unable to truly show love and affection to the Lord. God could either make sin impossible, or He could make beings free to choose, but He could not logically do both. Without an ability to choose, no being can have a meaningful relationship with God. There would never be a meaningful experience of His mercy and love, His justice and righteousness. The fullness of God’s nature and glory would not be on display.
The existence of sin is negative (Romans 6:23), but it is not the end of the story. Satan will ultimately be defeated. His end has been declared, and his evil will not continue forever (Revelation 20:7–10). Through faith in Jesus Christ, we can receive forgiveness of sins and restored fellowship with God (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8–9). This relationship provides eternal life as well as abundant life through our connection with the Lord (John 10:10). Jesus conquers sin and death and brings us to a fullness of relationship with God we can only begin to imagine (1 Corinthians 15:50–58; Revelation 21 – 22).
Daardie gevalle engel staan nou bekend as Satan (“teenstander”) of die duiwel (“lasteraar”).

Today’s Devotional
Computers have a reset when they become corrupted to go back to the factory settings called default. All of us have been corrupted by man’s words. We now need to default and go back to our Manufacture’s setting by going back to God’s words.
What did Jesus say?
Default Jesus.
Peter’s not standing at the gate to enter the kingdom of heaven. Our pastors not standing at the gate to enter the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is at the gate because He is the gate. (John 10:7) What did Jesus say?
Your pastor might have said, “Say this little prayer and you’ll go to heaven”, but what did Jesus say? Did your pastor tell you that you must lose your life in order to save it.
Jesus did. He said, “Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.” Luke (17:33)
Default Jesus.
Jesus said, “Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.“ (Matthew 7:21) It’s a fearful thing to fall into that hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:31)
Default Jesus.
Your pastor might have told you God wants you to be wealthy and to enjoy your best life now but what did Jesus great wealthsay? “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26)
Jesus warned us of seeking wealth and the things of this world. He said, “How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!” (Matthew 10:23) He said, “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possesses.” (Luke 12:15)
Will that man’s possessions save him on the day of judgment? Be careful of whose words you heed.
Default Jesus.
Did your pastor prepare you for persecution? Jesus did. “The servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” (John 15:20)
Man can study and debate Paul’s letters but who can debate Jesus’ own words. Many made excuses when Jesus spoke to them but a man’s excuse will only excuse him.
When we have been excused from heaven itself and God’s very presence, where will that leave us? There is only one alternative to heaven and that is the very fires of Hell.
If we choose to live our best life now, then we will have demonstrated whose words we believed and esteemed.
Jesus bread of lifesaid, “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63)
He said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
Bread alone will not sustain us but every word that proceeds from his mouth.
When many disciples walked away from Jesus when they didn’t like what he had to say, Peter knew there was no one who knew the way, as Peter declared, “Only you have the words of eternal life”. (John 6:68)
Read the Red letters of the Bible!
Maybe it’s time to reset our path to eternal life by going back to the Manufacturer settings. Go back to the red-letters of the Bible, reread them and take every word to heart.
Default Jesus.
Lukas (17:33)
Herbegin Jesus.
Herbegin Jesus.

2 A.M Vriende:
2 A.M Friends:
Who is that one friend or that one person you can call at 2 a.m. without having to apologize for any help? Whether it’s practical help you need, or someone who will be there in a time of need or just listen. If you have someone, they are unconditionally committed to you! The same sense of commitment shines through Paul’s letter to the followers of Jesus in Colossians. Writing from prison in Rome, Paul says that he is sending Tychicus and Onesimus to encourage them (Col 4:7-9). Aristarchus, Mark, and Justus send their greetings (vv. 10-11). And Epaphras is always struggling in prayers for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully convinced (vv. 12). These are bold assurances of practical help and deep-rooted love.
Greater love has no one than this, to lay down one’s life for another.
