The second Place is when we are safely lodged under the protective wing of God . the Next safe place is when we are Annointed and washed with the Blood of the Lamb . and another safe place is when we are Batized with the Holy Spirit and protected by Heavenly Angels . Die tweede plek is wanneer ons veilig onder die beskermende vlerk van God geloseer is. die Volgende veilige plek is wanneer ons Gesalf en gewas word met die Bloed van die Lam . en nog ‘n veilige plek is wanneer ons met die Heilige Gees gevul word en deur hemelse engele beskerm word. Help ons asseblief om by een of meer van hierdie veiligheidsplekke uit te kom, ons bid in Jesus naam, Amen en Amen
Bible Teaching of the Day
We find the law of liberty first mentioned in James 1:25, “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” James here refers to the gospel, which, although it is called here a law, is not, strictly speaking, a law comprised of requirements and enforced by sanctions. Rather, it is a declaration of righteousness and salvation by Christ, an offer of peace and pardon by Him, and a free promise of eternal life through Him. The juxtaposition of the two contradictory terms—“law” and “liberty”—made the point, especially to the Jews, that this was an entirely new way of thinking about both. Paul uses this same technique when he refers to the “law of faith” in Romans 3:27.
The perfect liberty found in Christ fulfills the “perfect law” of the Old Testament because Christ was the only one who could. Those who come to Him in faith now have freedom from sin’s bondage and are able to obey God. Christ alone can set us free and give us true liberty (John 8:36).
The phrase “law of liberty” is found again in James 2:12. In this portion of his epistle, James is discussing the sin of showing partiality within the church. He reminds his hearers that to show favoritism toward others is a violation of the command to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Jesus Himself reminded us that all of the Law that God gave to Moses could be summed up into one concise principle—to love God with all the heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37–40).
God’s Word teaches plainly that all have sinned and stand condemned before God (Romans 3:10, 23; 6:23). No one but Jesus Christ has ever fully obeyed the law of God. He who knew no sin became sin for us (Isaiah 53:5–6; 2 Corinthians 5:21)! Christ’s sacrifice on the cross has redeemed from the curse of the Law all who trust in Him by faith (Galatians 3:10–14). Believers have been justified (declared righteous) by His grace (Romans 3:24–28) and are no longer under condemnation (Romans 8:1). All who have trusted Christ have received the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:9). It is His power in us that gives us the ability to please God (Galatians 5:13–16).
Christ’s perfect sacrifice brings release from the eternal death sentence that the Law brings upon all sinners, and it gives believers the ability to please God as we put off the works of the flesh (Colossians 3:1–9), put on love (Colossians 3:12–17), and walk in (or by) the Spirit day by day. It is by the Spirit’s filling and control (Galatians 5:16-26; Ephesians 5:17–21) that we can walk in love and please our Heavenly Father.
What perfect liberty we now enjoy! What a blessed privilege to have received mercy, to be redeemed (liberated) from the bondage of sin, and to be empowered for service by our Creator! Our love for others proves the reality of our faith (1 John 4:7–11). Let us love one another even as He has loved us (1 John 4:19).

Ons vind die wet van vryheid wat die eerste keer in Jakobus 1:25 genoem word, “Maar hy wat die volmaakte wet, die wet van vryheid, insien en volhard, omdat hy geen hoorder is wat vergeet nie, maar ‘n dader wat handel, sal geseënd wees in sy handelinge.” Jakobus verwys hier na die evangelie, wat, hoewel dit hier ‘n wet genoem word, streng gesproke nie ‘n wet is wat uit vereistes bestaan en deur sanksies afgedwing word nie. Dit is eerder ‘n verklaring van geregtigheid en redding deur Christus, ‘n aanbod van vrede en vergifnis deur Hom, en ‘n vrye belofte van die ewige lewe deur Hom. Die jukstaposisie van die twee teenstrydige terme – “wet” en “vryheid” – het die punt gemaak, veral vir die Jode, dat dit ‘n heeltemal nuwe manier van dink oor albei was. Paulus gebruik dieselfde tegniek wanneer hy na die “wet van geloof” in Romeine 3:27 verwys.
Die volmaakte vryheid wat in Christus gevind word, vervul die “volmaakte wet” van die Ou Testament omdat Christus die enigste een was wat kon. Diegene wat in geloof na Hom toe kom, is nou vry van sonde se slawerny en is in staat om God te gehoorsaam. Christus alleen kan ons vrymaak en ons ware vryheid gee (Johannes 8:36).
Die frase “wet van vryheid” word weer in Jakobus 2:12 gevind. In hierdie gedeelte van sy sendbrief bespreek Jakobus die sonde van partydigheid binne die kerk. Hy herinner sy hoorders daaraan dat om begunstiging teenoor ander te toon ‘n oortreding is van die opdrag om ons naaste lief te hê soos ons onsself liefhet. Jesus self het ons daaraan herinner dat al die Wet wat God aan Moses gegee het, in een bondige beginsel saamgevat kan word – om God lief te hê met die hele hart, siel en verstand, en om ons naaste lief te hê soos onsself (Matteus 22:37–40).
God se Woord leer duidelik dat almal gesondig het en voor God veroordeel staan (Romeine 3:10, 23; 6:23). Niemand behalwe Jesus Christus het ooit die wet van God ten volle gehoorsaam nie. Hy wat geen sonde geken het nie, het vir ons sonde geword (Jesaja 53:5–6; 2 Korintiërs 5:21)! Christus se offer aan die kruis het almal wat deur geloof op Hom vertrou van die vloek van die wet verlos (Galasiërs 3:10-14). Gelowiges is geregverdig (geregverdig verklaar) deur sy genade (Romeine 3:24–28) en is nie meer onder veroordeling nie (Romeine 8:1). Almal wat Christus vertrou het, het die Heilige Gees ontvang (Romeine 8:9). Dit is sy krag in ons wat ons die vermoë gee om God te behaag (Galasiërs 5:13–16).
Christus se volmaakte offer bring vrylating van die ewige doodsvonnis wat die Wet oor alle sondaars bring, en dit gee aan gelowiges die vermoë om God te behaag wanneer ons die werke van die vlees aflê (Kolossense 3:1–9), met liefde aantrek (Kolossense 3:12–17), en dag vir dag in (of deur) die Gees wandel. Dit is deur die Gees se vervulling en beheer (Galasiërs 5:16-26; Efesiërs 5:17–21) dat ons in liefde kan wandel en ons Hemelse Vader kan behaag.
Watter volmaakte vryheid geniet ons tog nie! Wat ‘n geseënde voorreg om genade te ontvang, verlos (bevry) te word van die slawerny van sonde, en bemagtig te word vir diens deur ons Skepper! Ons liefde vir ander bewys die werklikheid van ons geloof (1 Johannes 4:7–11). Laat ons mekaar liefhê net soos Hy ons liefgehad het (1 Johannes 4:19).
Today’s Devotional
Many people desire miracles from God. They want God to perform miracles to “prove” Himself to them. “If only God would perform a miracle, sign, or wonder, then I would believe!” This idea, though, is contradicted by Scripture. When God performed amazing and powerful miracles for the Israelites, did that cause them to obey Him? No, the Israelites constantly disobeyed and rebelled against God even though they saw all the miracles. The same people who saw God part the Red Sea later doubted whether God was able to conquer the inhabitants of the Promised Land. This truth is explained in Luke 16:19-31. In the story, a man in hell asks Abraham to send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his brothers. Abraham informed the man, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead” (Luke 16:31).
Jesus performed countless miracles, yet the vast majority of people did not believe in Him. If God performed miracles today as He did in the past, the result would be the same. People would be amazed and would believe in God for a short time. That faith would be shallow and would disappear the moment something unexpected or frightening occurred. A faith based on miracles is not a mature faith. God performed the greatest “God miracle” of all time in coming to earth as the Man Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins (Romans 5:8) so that we could be saved (John 3:16). God does still perform miracles—many of them simply go unnoticed or are denied. However, we do not need more miracles. What we need is to believe in the miracle of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
The purpose of miracles was to authenticate the performer of the miracles. Acts 2:22 declares, “Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.” The same is said of the apostles, “The things that mark an apostle—signs, wonders and miracles—were done among you with great perseverance” (2 Corinthians 12:12). Speaking of the gospel, Hebrews 2:4 proclaims, “God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.” We now have the truth of Jesus recorded in Scripture. We now have the writings of the apostles recorded in Scripture. Jesus and His apostles, as recorded in Scripture, are the cornerstone and foundation of our faith (Ephesians 2:20). In this sense, miracles are no longer necessary, as the message of Jesus and His apostles has already been attested to and accurately recorded in the Scriptures. Yes, God still performs miracles. At the same time, we should not necessarily expect miracles to occur today just as they did in Bible times.

Baie mense begeer wonderwerke van God. Hulle wil hê dat God wonderwerke moet doen om Homself aan hulle te “bewys”. “As God net ‘n wonderwerk, teken of wonder sou doen, dan sou ek glo!” Hierdie idee word egter deur die Skrif weerspreek. Toe God wonderlike en kragtige wonderwerke vir die Israeliete gedoen het, het dit veroorsaak dat hulle Hom gehoorsaam? Nee, die Israeliete was gedurig ongehoorsaam en het teen God in opstand gekom al het hulle al die wonderwerke gesien. Dieselfde mense wat gesien het hoe God die Rooi See skei, het later getwyfel of God in staat was om die inwoners van die Beloofde Land te oorwin. Hierdie waarheid word in Lukas 16:19-31 verduidelik. In die verhaal vra ‘n man in die hel vir Abraham om Lasarus uit die dood terug te stuur om sy broers te waarsku. Abraham het die man ingelig: “As hulle nie na Moses en die profete luister nie, sal hulle nie oortuig word nie, al sou iemand uit die dood opstaan” (Lukas 16:31).
Jesus het ontelbare wonderwerke gedoen, tog het die oorgrote meerderheid mense nie in Hom geglo nie. As God vandag wonderwerke gedoen het soos Hy in die verlede gedoen het, sou die resultaat dieselfde wees. Mense sou verbaas wees en sou vir ‘n kort tydjie in God glo. Daardie geloof sou vlak wees en sou verdwyn die oomblik wanneer iets onverwags of skrikwekkend gebeur. ‘n Geloof gebaseer op wonderwerke is nie ‘n volwasse geloof nie. God het die grootste “God-wonderwerk” van alle tye gedoen deur na die aarde toe te kom as die Man Jesus Christus om aan die kruis vir ons sondes te sterf (Romeine 5:8) sodat ons gered kan word (Joh. 3:16). God doen steeds wonderwerke—baie daarvan gaan eenvoudig ongemerk verby of word ontken. Ons het egter nie meer wonderwerke nodig nie. Wat ons nodig het, is om te glo in die wonder van verlossing deur geloof in Jesus Christus.
Die doel van wonderwerke was om die verrigter van die wonderwerke te bevestig. Handelinge 2:22 verklaar: “Manne van Israel, luister hierna: Jesus van Nasaret was ‘n man wat deur God aan julle geakkrediteer is deur wonders, wonders en tekens wat God deur Hom onder julle gedoen het, soos julle self weet.” Dieselfde word van die apostels gesê: “Die dinge wat ’n apostel kenmerk—tekens, wonders en wonderwerke—is met groot volharding onder julle gedoen” (2 Korinthiërs 12:12). As ons van die evangelie praat, verkondig Hebreërs 2:4, “God het ook daarvan getuig deur tekens, wonders en allerhande wonders en gawes van die Heilige Gees wat volgens sy wil uitgedeel is.” Ons het nou die waarheid van Jesus opgeteken in die Skrif. Ons het nou die geskrifte van die apostels wat in die Skrif opgeteken is. Jesus en sy apostels, soos opgeteken in die Skrif, is die hoeksteen en fondament van ons geloof (Efesiërs 2:20). In hierdie sin is wonderwerke nie meer nodig nie, aangesien die boodskap van Jesus en Sy apostels reeds getuig en akkuraat in die Skrif opgeteken is. Ja, God doen steeds wonderwerke. Terselfdertyd moet ons nie noodwendig verwag dat wonderwerke vandag net soos in Bybeltye gebeur het nie.
