The dictionary defines heartbreak as “crushing grief, anguish, or distress.” In today’s world, the term brokenhearted usually describes someone who has suffered a failed relationship or loss of a loved one. A search of the internet makes it appear as though almost all heartbreak comes from divorce or being dropped by a lover. But a broken heart may be brought on by a myriad of causes such as disappointment in a child’s lifestyle, loss of possession, loss of job, etc. Whatever the cause, the pain of a broken heart can be enormous.

Worldly advice for handling the pain may include writing an angry letter and tearing it up, going on a shopping spree, getting a makeover, drinking wine, eating chocolate, taking medication, etc. Some would advocate the power of positive thinking. The most common “cure” is time. The world’s focus is on feelings, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). While the non-Christian may sense a waning in intensity of heartbreak, only a Christian can experience complete recovery because only the Christian has access to the power of the Spirit of God who alone “heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” (Psalm 147:3).

The events in Job’s life may be the earliest biblical record of heartbreak. In one day Job lost his children, almost all worldly possessions, his health, and his means of livelihood. What was Job’s response? “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, ‘Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD'” (Job 1:20-21). Job grieved. Yet, he worshiped God and remained faithful. Although he had doubts as to God’s goodness in these terrible events, through the trial he grew closer to God through God’s revelation of Himself (Job 42:1-5). Job learned what all believers can learn through heartbreak—God is faithful and good and trustworthy.

David, a man after God’s own heart, suffered many heartbreaking circumstances. Each time, he recovered and was an even stronger man of God. Psalm 34 gives an example of how David overcame heartbreak by calling on the Lord. Notice the first step: “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4). David knew “the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). Finally, he expressed a confidence in the love of God that every believer should have: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19).

One might ask in a moment of despair, “He may have helped David, but does God care about me?” The answer is He absolutely does! “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). What a comfort to know that God “will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). God is always near to comfort the believer. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). God, who cannot lie, has promised to go through our trials with us. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you” (Isaiah 43:2).

God never failed one of His people when they cried out to Him, and He will not fail the heartbroken Christian who cries out to Him today. He may not always answer exactly in the way we would like, but He answers according to His perfect will and timing and, while we are waiting for the answer, His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Finally, those who belong to Christ and are enduring heartbreak must know that God loves them and that His love is unconditional. Imagine the grief God the Father endured as He witnessed the crucifixion of His Son on the cross. What amazing love! That same God is there to comfort the brokenhearted and restore the joy of their salvation.

Die woordeboek definieer hartseer as “verpletterende hartseer, angs of nood.”

Wat was Job se reaksie? (Job 1:20-21).

Bible Teaching of the Day

Second Timothy 3:16 states, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (ESV). The previous verse describes Scripture as “sacred writings” that impart wisdom for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15, ESV). Among the many functions of Scripture is the role of rebuking us when needed. The Bible is profitable—that is, it is useful and beneficial—for rebuking.

The Greek term translated “reproof” or “rebuke” is elegmos, derived from the verb elegcho, which can be translated as “to convict”, “to expose,” or “to bring to light.” Thus, to rebuke is to correct someone by clarifying his or her faults, with the intention of prompting change. This type of rebuking can “make us realize what is wrong in our lives” (2 Timothy 3:16, NLT).

As Jesus promises the coming of the Holy Spirit, He says the Spirit will convict (elenxei) the world of sin (John 16:8). The word for “convict” is closely related to the word for “rebuke.” In other words, the Spirit will rebuke the world and bring to light disobedience and rebellion within sinful hearts. The goal is to prompt repentance.

Scripture is profitable for rebuking in that it provides clear standards for right and wrong. Sinful humanity tries to set their own standards but in a way inconsistent with God’s character and will. Cain felt it was right to kill Abel (Genesis 4:1–8), and Lamech followed suit, committing a murder himself (Genesis 4:19–24). At the time of Noah, the earth was filled with violence (Genesis 6:11–13). In the time of the judges, “everyone did as they saw fit” (Judges 21:25). We need Scripture to reveal what is truly right and wrong.

Scripture is profitable for rebuking in that it forces us to see ourselves as we really are. The Bible is a mirror in which our own faults and flaws and failures are evident (James 1:23–24). “It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). In its pages we read of the sin of David, the cowardice of Peter, and the greed of Gehazi, and we know instinctively that their stories are ours.

Scripture is profitable for rebuking in that it showcases Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. Jesus’ moral character and impeccable integrity stand in stark contrast to our own sinful nature. When we contemplate the words and actions of Jesus, we cannot help but cry out with Peter, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord” (Luke 5:8, ESV). It is in rebuking sinners for their sin that Scripture brings them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Scripture is also profitable for rebuking in that it contains stories and penalties that highlight the gravity of sin. In modern culture sin is often trivialized, but Scripture provides a wake-up call. Fornication, greed, lies, and other “acceptable” sins today are shown in Scripture to be grievous acts against a holy God. Paul writes that examples of God’s judgment in the Old Testament serve as a deterrent, so “we would not crave evil things as they did” (1 Corinthians 10:6, NLT). Sin is more than just human weakness, and Scripture reveals its rebellious nature and destructive effect. It is a profitable thing to reveal sin for what it is.

The rebuking role of Scripture is as important as its role in encouragement and teaching. To be grounded as Christians, we must be open to the Bible’s rebuke of our wrong actions. We must allow Scripture to define the standard by which we are to live.

My, want Ek is ‘n sondige mens, o Here” (Lukas 5:8).

Today’s Devotional

The idea that Jesus had nowhere to lay His head comes directly from a conversation recorded in the book of Matthew and again in the book of Luke. Jesus was talking to a scribe who wished to follow Jesus and become a disciple. In fact, the scribe boasted, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head” (Matthew 8:19–20; Luke 9:57–58).

These same passages mention two others who had similar discussions with Jesus. In each case, Jesus made the point that there is a cost to following Him. The scribe who said he wanted to follow Jesus wherever He went was not considering the lifestyle Jesus led. Our Lord was functionally homeless; He and His disciples stayed in the homes of those who would take them in (see Luke 10:6–8). The scribes were among the wealthier citizens. It was as if Jesus were saying, “Are you sure you want to be homeless with Me?” Even the animals have a place to stay—foxes have holes and the birds have nests—but Jesus literally had “nowhere to lay his head.” He wanted the scribe to truly count the cost of what he was proposing. It is always wise to count the cost (Luke 14:28).

Many would-be followers of Christ expected that He would soon set up His kingdom, and they wanted to be on the winning side to partake of the glorious victory (see Luke 19:11). The scribe in Matthew 8 was probably looking to follow Jesus straight into the kingdom, where he would share in ruling the world. But Jesus wanted the scribe to understand that to follow Him is not to find earthly glory; it is to share in earthly suffering. There was no golden throne awaiting His disciples but only privation and poverty. The King was homeless.

The fact that Jesus had nowhere to lay His head does not mean that every Christian today is called to live a life of poverty or forsake family and friends. Even in Jesus’ day, some of His followers were wealthy (Joseph of Arimathea, for example, in Matthew 27:57). But every Christian should be willing to forsake all. Every believer is called to give up any idol that stands in the way of following Christ wholeheartedly. Each of us knows what that thing is and how difficult it is to say goodbye to it. But, in the end, the heart that loves Christ will dispose of that competing love, despite the very real pain and anguish of doing so. We are all like the merchant who found that pearl of great price and sold everything he had to possess it (Matthew 13:45–46). Foxes have dens, and birds have nests, but in this world we may have to do without, for we look for “a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1). There we will find a place to lay our head.

No Simple Recipe:

I was baking a cake the other day, and I got my recipe out and got the ingredients ready and then followed the simple steps given in the recipe. Everything went well and the cake was a success.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if life were that simple? Just follow the few steps as indicated and then enjoy a happy, worry-free life!
But unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way. We live in a broken world and there is no simple recipe that we can follow to ensure a carefree, problem-free life – a life without injustice, pain, loss and suffering.
In the midst of the pain and frustrations of this life, we need the personal care of a Savior, someone who has lived in this world and experienced the same struggles as we do. Hebrews 4:15 encourages us: For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. Christ, who died on the cross for us, is sufficient to carry us through all our sorrows and pains; he took our griefs upon himself and carried our sicknesses (Isa. 53:4). Jesus knows that there is no simple recipe for avoiding the sorrows of life. That is why he came to help us. Will we trust him with our sorrows and tears?

The Christ who died to give us life will carry us through when sorrows and problems come.

Vandag – Die Sulammitiese meisie
Wie was die Sulammitiese meisie?

Women in the Bible—What Can We Learn From Them?

Today – The Shulammite girl
Who was the Shulammite girl?
She was a beautiful country girl and the principal character in the Bible book called the Song of Solomon. The Bible does not reveal her name.

What did she do? The Shulammite maiden remained loyal to the shepherd boy she loved. (Song of Solomon 2:16) Her exceptional beauty, however, caught the attention of wealthy King Solomon, who tried to win her affections. (Song of Solomon 7:6) Although others urged her to choose Solomon, the Shulammite girl refused. She loved the lowly shepherd boy and was loyal to him.—Song of Solomon 3:5; 7:10; 8:6.

What can we learn from the Shulammite girl? She maintained a modest view of herself despite her beauty and the attention she received. She did not allow her affections to be swayed by peer pressure or the promise of material wealth and prestige. She kept her emotions under control and remained morally chaste.

Is godly living outdated? There are some messages pushed by believers that don’t align with the way God calls us to live. The lines between Christianity and culture are blurred in our society. Some of the confusion is coming from people we hold in high regard spiritually. While it’s good to have spiritual leaders, not all of them are operating by divine wisdom. Danger alert! Watch today’s video to learn how to spot false coaches and to listen for godly ones. and later our sermon today from Dr. Charles Stanley (The Promise and the Plan) – We don’t always understand why God works the way He does. In 1956, he joined The Weatherford Quartet, which featured Glen, Earl and Lily Fern Weatherford, Armond Morales, and George Younce. Younce was later replaced by Henry Slaughter.

Career
In 1963, Weatherfords members Glen, Bobby Clark, and Danny Koker departed to work for evangelist Rex Humbard at the Cathedral of Tomorrow in Akron, Ohio. Together, they formed the Cathedral Trio. With the addition of bass singer George Younce a year later, the Cathedral Trio became the Cathedral Quartet. The Cathedrals immediately became a sensation with their smooth quartet sound. Over the next 35 years, the Cathedrals won numerous Singing News Fan Awards and had several number one hits on the Southern Gospel Charts including Step into The Water, Boundless Love, and He Made a Change. While the quartet saw several different people hold the tenor, baritone and pianist positions, Payne and Younce remained the guiding forces of the quartet until Glen’s death in 1999 during the Cathedral’s farewell retirement tour. Payne and Younce were the only lead and bass singers the Cathedrals ever had.

During the 1970s, the Cathedrals were regulars on Sunday Morning Television appearing on “The Gospel Singing Jubilee” and also appeared in several Billy Graham Crusades. They also appeared on NBC’s “Today” show. During the 1990s, the Cathedrals were regulars on the “Gaither Homecoming” videos and were generally recognized as the top quartet in Southern Gospel music.

Glen was the willing “target” of many of emcee George’s jokes and icebreakers during the quartet’s run. George often referred to Glen as “The Old Man”. Glen’s signature song was We Shall See Jesus.

Glen sat as a member of the board of directors of the National Quartet Convention and the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame for many years, being enshrined in the SGMA Hall of Fame at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee itself in 1998.

Death
Glen died due to complications from cancer on October 15, 1999, aged 72 during the Cathedral’s farewell tour, just five days before his 73rd birthday. Although unable to attend that year, Glen made his final performance at the National Quartet Convention via telephone hook-up from his hospital bed at Vanderbilt Hospital. During this Cathedral’s appearance at NQC, Glen talked with George and the audience over the phone and, at George’s behest, sang the old hymn I Won’t Have To Cross Jordan Alone in one of the most memorable NQC performances of all time. It was the final time Glen would perform publicly with the Cathedrals. Payne was married and had three children and three grandchildren. He is buried in Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin, Tennessee.

On April 4, 2019, Glen’s wife Van Lua died aged 81. On June 27, 2024, Glen’s daughter Carla died aged 64 from cancer.

Bible Prophecy in the News

TruLight Breaking News = 14 July 2025 – Iranian official makes veiled threat of nuclear attack on Israel :

Top aide to Iranian parliament speaker posts computer-generated image of Israel being hit by nuclear warheads.

A top adviser to a senior Iranian lawmaker posted a thinly veiled threat of nuclear war on Israel over the weekend.

On Saturday, Mehdi Mohammadi, a strategic adviser to the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, uploaded a computer-generated image showing a bird’s-eye view of Israel as the country is rocked by what appear to be two mushroom clouds.

The larger of the two explosions is centered roughly on Israel’s capital city, Jerusalem.

The post was later removed, Mohammadi’s account wrote, though a follow-up message including the same image was posted several hours later.

Mohammadi blamed the initial post on an errant page administrator and distanced himself from its apparent message, expressing opposition to the pursuit of an Iranian nuclear weapons program.

“Hello friends, this story was posted by the admin of my page but was then deleted minutes later,” Mohammadi wrote.

“I do not believe that building nuclear weapons can help improve Iran’s deterrence. At the very least, this issue is very complicated.”

“Just as having nuclear weapons did not prevent Iran from inflicting severe blows on the [Israeli] regime or [prevent] Ukraine from being able to strike Russia. The truth is that the military function of nuclear weapons is much more limited than is often thought.”

Iran’s leadership has repeatedly denied the country’s nuclear program is aimed at building nuclear weapons or even achieving an atomic weapons’ capacity.

However, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran has enriched close to 1,000 pounds of uranium to 60% purity, far beyond the single-digit levels of enrichment used for civilian energy production but close to the 90% needed for weapons-grade uranium.

WATCH: Iranian MP says, ‘We must be able to build as many nuclear weapons as we want within 24 hours’

Iranian MP Abolfazl Zohrevand declared he’s long believed Iran should be ready to respond to a nuclear attack and stand poised to mass-produce nuclear weapons in under 24 hours.

The Revelation 13 Man controls the Beast Money System

What cryptocurrencies does Elon Musk own?
In 2021, Elon Musk confirmed that he owned BTC, ETH, and DOGE in a Twitter post.

Elon tweet about crypto
In the tweet, Musk playfully referred to these cryptocurrencies as ‘ascii hash strings’ to suggest that digital assets are nothing more than hashed sequences.

Of these three cryptocurrencies, Musk has given the most vocal support to DOGE. While he’s offered praise for BTC and ETH, Musk has also criticized both of these cryptocurrencies on different occasions.

Does Elon Musk own Dogecoin?
Musk has championed Dogecoin on multiple occasions. Musk has praised the cryptocurrency both for its humor and for its underlying technology.

Elon Musk tweet on Dogecoin
On an appearance on the Lex Fridman Podcast, Musk praised Dogecoin for its relatively fast transaction speeds and low fees. While he acknowledged that DOGE originally was created as a joke, he said that Dogecoin’s blockchain design made it better suited for transactions than Bitcoin.

While Musk has confirmed that he owns DOGE, it’s unclear how much he holds.

Let’s walk through some of the ways organizations affiliated with Elon Musk have supported Dogecoin.

At the time of writing, Tesla accepts DOGE as a form of payment.
The Boring Company accepts DOGE to pay for rides.
SpaceX announced DOGE-1 — a satellite mission 100% paid for in DOGE.
Elon Musk serves as the head of the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — which was likely named as a nod to Dogecoin.
Should I invest in DOGE?
It’s important to remember that the value of DOGE is highly speculative.

While Bitcoin is an inflation-resistant store of value and Ethereum helps enable decentralized applications, DOGE currently has limited real world uses. In addition, the supply of DOGE is highly inflationary.

Does Elon Musk own Bitcoin?
In a tweet in 2018, Musk said that he owned .25 BTC that a friend sent him. It’s unknown whether Elon Musk currently owns Bitcoin.

In 2021, Elon Musk’s company Tesla bought $1.5 billion of BTC and introduced Bitcoin as a payment option. The stated reason for this purchase was for ‘more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns for our cash’.

Just two months later, Tesla stopped accepting BTC as payment and began converting its existing Bitcoin holdings to cash. According to Musk, this move was intended to improve the company’s cash position in the face of uncertainty over COVID-19 lockdowns in China.

Has Elon Musk criticized Bitcoin?
Despite holding Bitcoin, Musk has criticized the cryptocurrency on several occasions.

Musk cited fossil fuel consumption associated with Bitcoin mining as a reason why Tesla would no longer accept BTC as payment.

Musk has also criticized the design of Bitcoin. In an appearance on the Lex Friedman Podcast, Musk said that Bitcoin was too slow because it was designed in 2008 — when Internet connectivity was much lower than it is today.

Does Elon Musk own Ethereum?
In 2021, Musk publicly confirmed that he owned Ethereum. However, he has criticized Ethereum for having slow transaction speeds and high fees.

Does Elon Musk own NFTs?
At this time, Musk does not endorse any NFT collection.

On an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Musk criticized NFTs because the images themselves are not hosted directly on the blockchain. According to Musk, this means that NFTs rely on centralized entities.

Before Musk owned X, the company supported blockchain-verified NFT profile pictures. The company stopped supporting the feature after Musk took control of the platform.

Does Elon Musk have his own memecoins?
While Musk does not have a personal cryptocurrency, he has been linked to several memecoins, including:

Dogecoin (DOGE) – As mentioned earlier, Musk has been a vocal proponent of DOGE.
Floki Inu (FLOKI) – FLOKI is a cryptocurrency inspired by Musk’s pet Shiba Inu (also named Floki) — though the project has not been endorsed by Musk. In the past, Musk has publicly said that he does not own FLOKI.
Elon-themed tokens – Many projects have launched meme tokens with his name, though Musk has disavowed them.
You should be cautious of Elon Musk-branded memecoins. Many of these projects simply use Musk’s likeness to attract attention, but are not affiliated with Musk in any way. Musk has also said that none of his companies will create a crypto token.

Will blockchain be used in the US government?
A report in Bloomberg in January 2025 said that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was considering using blockchain technology to track federal spending, secure data, and even manage buildings.

At this time, it’s unclear whether this idea will make it to DOGE’s final recommendations (due July 2026) or be implemented into law. In addition, it’s unclear which blockchain the government would use for this purpose.

However, it’s a clear sign that Elon Musk and the Trump Administration are pursuing crypto-friendly policies.

Gog and Magog Update

TRUE OR FALSE? Iran Boasts it Can Strike US and Israel Every Day for 2 Years

Iran says it can launch missiles at the United States and Israel every day for two years.

But experts speaking to Fox News say Tehran no longer has that power.

The warning came from top Iranian military officials, who claimed their underground missile bases and weapons stockpiles remain full.

“We have yet to demonstrate the majority of our defense capabilities,” said Maj. Gen. Ebrahim Jabbari of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

In the same report, Maj. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi, a senior adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, added that Iranian forces such as the Quds Force have not yet entered battle.

But according to military analysts and Western intelligence, Iran suffered major losses during the recent “12-Day War.”

Israeli strikes hit key missile production sites and storage facilities. The U.S. also joined with attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

Iran started the war with up to 600 missile launchers and about 3,000 missiles.

“The regime has increasingly been forced to choose between using or losing these projectiles,” said Behnam Ben Taleblu, an Iran expert at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

Danny Citrinowicz, a former Israeli intelligence officer and Iran analyst, said the damage to production lines will make it hard for Iran to rebuild.

“Israel attacked every place that the Iranians manufacture missiles,” he told Fox News Digital.

Even if Iran can still launch missiles, Citrinowicz said, it could do so only in small numbers.

As for Iran’s ability to strike U.S. soil, analysts consider it unlikely.

Citrinowicz noted Iran might try to use its military presence in Venezuela but called that scenario “a long shot.”

More likely, any Iranian attack would target U.S. forces in the Middle East.

Iran’s setbacks were not limited to its missile program.

Can Kasapoglu, a Middle East military expert at the Hudson Institute, said Israel also targeted Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

He added that Israel prioritized Iran’s most advanced missiles — solid-fuel, medium-range ballistic weapons that can reach speeds of Mach 10 and perform evasive maneuvers.

Despite these efforts, Iran remains the largest missile power in the region.
“We saw that during the war,” Kasapoglu said. “Even with interceptors from the U.S. and Israel, some missiles still got through.”

He also warned about Iran’s proxy forces, particularly the Houthis in Yemen.

With Chinese satellite assistance, the Houthis have resumed attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

One recent strike hit a Liberian-flagged Greek vessel.

“That’s the proxy I’m most concerned about,” Kasapoglu said.

Iran still poses threats across the region, especially at sea and through its network of militant allies.

But experts agree the country’s ability to launch sustained missile attacks is no longer what it once was.

While the war ended with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, tensions remain high.

U.S. President Donald Trump has not publicly commented on the claims, though the Pentagon continues to monitor Iran’s movements.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Col. Eyal Zamir said Israeli forces remain on alert.
