Abraham knew that God would provide Himself with a lamb because, after years of having an immature faith, Abraham grew to fully trust that what God says He will do, He will do. In Genesis 15:6, after God had promised Abraham to give him innumerable descendants, Abraham believed in God, and it was credited to Abraham as righteousness. Initially, Abraham tried to help God keep His promise by suggesting that Eliezer be counted as his heir (Genesis 15:3) and by taking Hagar as his wife (Genesis 16). God’s plan wasn’t for either of these scenarios to provide the fulfillment of His promise. Instead, God further specified that Sarah would have a son and his name would be Isaac (Genesis 17:19). Isaac would be the covenant son through whom God would keep His promises (Genesis 17:21).

Just as God had promised, Isaac was born (Genesis 21:1–2). Some years later, God tested Abraham’s faith, telling Him to take Isaac to Mount Moriah and sacrifice him to the Lord there (Genesis 22:2). This was a horrifying and grievous request, yet Abraham started off in the morning to do exactly what God had told him to do (Genesis 22:3–6). As they were making the journey, Isaac observes that there is no lamb for the sacrifice, and he asks his father about that oddity (Genesis 22:7). Abraham responded to his son that God will provide Himself a lamb (Genesis 22:8). When they arrived at the right place, Abraham bound his son and was about to take the prescribed action and kill Isaac (Genesis 22:9–10).

The author of Hebrews tells us what Abraham was thinking—how he could be willing to kill his son, and how he could know that God will provide Himself a lamb. When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham considered that God was able to raise people from the dead (Hebrews 11:19). God had promised Abraham that Isaac would be the covenant son, and that from Isaac God would raise up a mighty nation in fulfillment of the promises God had made to Abraham. God had already miraculously kept His promises—that Isaac was even born was a miracle in itself. Abraham had learned that God is faithful. At first, Abraham simply exercised faith (Genesis 15:6), and God counted that to Abraham as righteousness (as He does with us when we believe in Him). But part of growing in our relationship with God is increasing in confidence that He is able and willing to accomplish what He has said. Because Abraham had seen God’s faithfulness, when this uncharacteristic request of human sacrifice was made, Abraham trusted God that He knew what He was doing. Abraham knew that, even despite this strange and awful request, God would provide and God would keep His word.

Before Abraham could bring the knife down to strike his son, the angel or messenger of the Lord called out to Him from heaven acknowledging that Abraham had passed the test and should not kill Isaac (Genesis 22:11–12). Of course, God never intended that Abraham would actually kill Isaac. He simply wanted to show Abraham that, no matter how impossible the circumstances, Abraham could trust God. As Abraham looked up, he saw a ram caught in a thicket nearby and offered the ram as a sacrifice instead of Isaac (Genesis 22:13). Abraham then acknowledged that God had provided for His word to be kept, and he named the place “Jehovah-Jireh,” which means “The Lord Will Provide” (Genesis 22:14).

While Abraham’s weakness of faith is chronicled in Genesis 18—21, God did not reject him or punish him for that immaturity. God did, however, provide him opportunities to grow and then puts him to the test so he can demonstrate that growth. Abraham learned that God is faithful, and even when we are unsure of how God is going to keep His word, we can be certain that He is faithful and that He will keep His word.

Bible Teaching of the Day

When Jesus is called the Lamb of God in John 1:29 and John 1:36, it is referring to Him as the perfect and ultimate sacrifice for sin. In order to understand who Christ was and what He did, we must begin with the Old Testament, which contains prophecies concerning the coming of Christ as a “guilt offering” (Isaiah 53:10). In fact, the whole sacrificial system established by God in the Old Testament set the stage for the coming of Jesus Christ, who is the perfect sacrifice God would provide as atonement for the sins of His people (Romans 8:3; Hebrews 10).

The sacrifice of lambs played a very important role in the Jewish religious life and sacrificial system. When John the Baptist referred to Jesus as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29), the Jews who heard him might have immediately thought of any one of several important sacrifices. With the time of the Passover feast being very near, the first thought might be the sacrifice of the Passover lamb. The Passover feast was one of the main Jewish holidays and a celebration in remembrance of God’s deliverance of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. In fact, the slaying of the Passover lamb and the applying of the blood to doorposts of the houses (Exodus 12:11-13) is a beautiful picture of Christ’s atoning work on the cross. Those for whom He died are covered by His blood, protecting us from the angel of (spiritual) death.

Another important sacrifice involving lambs was the daily sacrifice at the temple in Jerusalem. Every morning and evening, a lamb was sacrificed in the temple for the sins of the people (Exodus 29:38-42). These daily sacrifices, like all others, were simply to point people towards the perfect sacrifice of Christ on the cross. In fact, the time of Jesus’ death on the cross corresponds to the time the evening sacrifice was being made in the temple. The Jews at that time would have also been familiar with the Old Testament prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah, who foretold the coming of One who would be brought “like a lamb led to the slaughter” (Jeremiah 11:19; Isaiah 53:7) and whose sufferings and sacrifice would provide redemption for Israel. Of course, that person was none other than Jesus Christ, “the Lamb of God.”

While the idea of a sacrificial system might seem strange to us today, the concept of payment or restitution is still one we can easily understand. We know that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and that our sin separates us from God. We also know the Bible teaches we are all sinners and none of us is righteous before God (Romans 3:23). Because of our sin, we are separated from God, and we stand guilty before Him. Therefore, the only hope we can have is if He provides a way for us to be reconciled to Himself, and that is what He did in sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross. Christ died to make atonement for sin and to pay the penalty of the sins of all who believe in Him.

It is through His death on the cross as God’s perfect sacrifice for sin and His resurrection three days later that we can now have eternal life if we believe in Him. The fact that God Himself has provided the offering that atones for our sin is part of the glorious good news of the gospel that is so clearly declared in 1 Peter 1:18-21: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.”

So is julle geloof en hoop in God.”

Today’s Devotional

In the midst of a series of laws regulating the treatment of others, we find “Do not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block in front of the blind, but fear your God. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:14). Obviously, putting a rock or brick in front of a blind person is cruel, but the New Testament takes the practical adage and turns it into a spiritual metaphor.

After Peter rebuked Jesus, denying the crucifixion would take place, Jesus said, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s” (Matthew 16:23). Peter, under the influence of Satan, tried to distract Jesus from what He had come to do. He tried to make Jesus “stumble” in His path to the crucifixion. Paul reiterates the idea: “…but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness” (1 Corinthians 1:23). The idea that the Messiah would be crucified was a stumbling block to the Jews—something that tripped up their beliefs of what the Messiah would be like.

But most of the time, a “stumbling block” refers to something or someone who keeps another from a relationship with God. In Matthew 18:5-7, Jesus says, “And whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me; but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe to the world because of its stumbling blocks! For it is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to that man through whom the stumbling block comes!” Just as it would be better to chop off one’s hand than to sin (Matthew 18:8), in the Kingdom perspective, it would be better to drown than lead a child into sin. Similarly, in Romans 14:13, Paul points out that God alone judges; we are not to judge others but be concerned that we are not the ones leading them into the sin we’re so concerned about.

Stumbling blocks also arise when the path is a little more ambiguous. The mature Christian life allows some freedoms that seem contrary to an obedient, disciplined faith. The Corinthians were concerned about eating meat sacrificed to idols. Modern issues include drinking alcohol in moderation or dancing. “But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak” (1 Corinthians 8:9). Our liberty is not worth another’s walk with God. If something God allows would lead another to sin, we need to avoid it. We are given great freedom as Christians, but the greatest is the freedom to consider others’ welfare over our own.

Refraining from being a stumbling block means not leading another into sin. How we accomplish this depends on the situation and the hearts of those around us. The security we have in God’s love and provision, both now and eternally, allows us to show concern to those who are weaker—those who need specific encouragement to understand who God is. In some situations, that means living in those freedoms to exemplify that God is a God of grace. In others, it means disciplining ourselves to building up weaker believers and not pushing them into a liberty they’re not ready for. But, always, it means not encouraging another to act in a way the Bible specifically identifies as sin.

Ek is die HERE” (Levitikus 19:14).

Moet ek hier bly of wil God my iewers anders hê ?
( Matt 6:34 ).

God ken elke paadtjie wat ek neem,
Hy weet van elke hartseer en pyn.
Sy kinders sal Hy nooit verlaat nie,
Want Hy het ons lief.

God’s Will:

We often seek God’s will, especially when we are in a difficult situation. Then we wonder: What will happen to me here? Should I stay here or does God want me somewhere else? The only way to find out is to do what He asks at that moment – the task of the present moment. Then wait on God.
If you obey what you know, God will show you the next step. He will lead you step by step, one step at a time. That is how we learn to walk with God.
Perhaps you say, “Suppose I take the first step, what will happen then? That is God’s business. Our job is to obey and leave the future in God’s hands. The Psalmist says, “The Lord determines the course of the man whose way He is pleased with ( Ps 37:23 ). Guidance for today is all that is needed. Instructions for tomorrow are not in question today.
We do not understand the next page of God’s book of instructions, only today’s. We will not be allowed to turn the page until we understand today’s.
If we keep ourselves busy with God’s will, take to heart the warnings He gives, walk by faith, and do not leave the path of obedience, we will find that God is leading us throughout the day. As Jesus put it, “Tomorrow will bring its own worries.” ( Matt 6:34 ).

God knows every path I take, He knows of every heartache and pain.

He will never forsake His children. not, Because He loves us.

INTRODUCTION TO THE GOSPEL ARTISTS of THE PAST

Meet : The Late Howard Goodman (November 7, 1921 – November 30, 2002)

Howard “Happy” Goodman was an American gospel singer. In 1949, he founded the vocal group The Happy Goodman Family which included combinations of all eight Goodman siblings and his wife Vestal Goodman

Early life
Howard was born on November 7, 1921, in Dora, Alabama, U.S. Howard was the oldest of eight children, Gussie Mae, Stella, Eloise, Helen Ruth, Sam, Charles (Rusty) and Bobby. In 1949 he married the former Vestal Freeman.

Career
Howard began his career with his sisters Gussie Mae and Stella performing Southern gospel in the 1940s. As the rest of the siblings got old enough to sing they would join the group. Howard’s wife Vestal joined the group following their marriage in 1949. Bass singer Bill Huie was with the group for awhile in the 1950s as was drummer Jake Hand and accordionist Harold Patrick. Howard’s niece LaBreeska, daughter of Gussie Mae, sang with the group prior to her marriage to Joel Hemphill. Vestal’s sister Faye also sang with the group briefly.

During the 1950s the Goodman sisters left the group to get married and the brothers left to do stints in the army. Howard and Vestal did evangelistic work and sang with LaBreeska. Howard and Vestal eventually settled in Madisonville, Kentucky and started a church, Life Temple.

By the early 60s Sam, Rusty, and Bobby and their families had settled in Madisonville and the group began to sing more regularly eventually gaining notoriety. Howard, Vestal, Sam, and Rusty would continue singing until the late 70s when Howard and Vestal left the group to go back in to evangelistic work.

Following the success of Bill Gaither’s Homecoming video series and the deaths of Rusty and Sam, former Goodman band member Johnny Minick joined Howard and Vestal and The Happy Goodman Family was reborn. The group continued until Howard’s death.

Awards

Bible Prophecy in the News

The Red Heifer And The Temple: The Prophetic Clock Is Ticking

Something remarkable-and deeply prophetic-just happened in Israel. In a quiet but symbolically thunderous event, a heifer was burned in Israel in accordance with biblical instructions found in Numbers 19. And in the eyes of many devout Jews and watchful Christians, it signals something far greater than the ritual itself: the accelerating movement toward rebuilding the Third Temple. Something unexpected is happening across America’s airwaves. Christian music, once confined to niche stations and worship services, is now making serious inroads into mainstream charts. Israel Defends The Druze – A Prophetic Reminder Of The Fate Of Damascus

It was only last week that there was talk of a possible peace accord between Israel and Syria. Now Israel has taken swift and decisive action to defend the Druze, bombing over a hundred Syrian military and militia-linked targets.

Trump’s Peace Delusion Is Bringing Chaos To Southern Syria

I don’t say this lightly, because President Trump has done some good things in the past. However, the current US administration led by President Trump is sowing the seeds for more strife and war in the Middle East - especially in Syria. It will end up being a full failure unless President Trump changes his strategy.

A brutal Druze massacre is unfolding in southern Syria — and the world is silent. It’s time to wake up from the dangerous fantasy of “peace” with the jihadist Jolani regime of Syria and face reality: there is only path forward for Israel is decisive action to protect our allies, secure our borders…

China’s Digital ID Nightmare: A Blueprint for Global Tyranny

China’s government has taken yet another monumental step toward absolute digital control. Beginning this week, Beijing will roll out a centralized digital ID system that links every online user to a government-assigned code – a code tied not just to names, but to facial scans and vast troves of personal information.

Gog and Magog Update

Yemeni forces intercept 750 tons of Iranian weapons headed for the Houthis

Yemeni National Resistance Forces (NRF) intercepted 750 tons of munitions and hardware sent by Iran to the Houthis, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on X.

This is the largest ever shipment intercepted by the forces that combat the Yemen-based terror group, which regularly disrupts shipping and fires missiles into Israel.

Among the recovered items were weapons and military hardware, including hundreds of advanced cruise, anti-ship, and anti-aircraft missiles, along with warheads, guidance systems, components, drone engines, air defense systems, radar units, and communications gear.

The equipment showed telltale signs of originating from Iran and companies associated with the Islamic regime’s Ministry of Defense; some even came with manuals written in Persian.
