Bible Verse and Prayer for Today;

Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
Matthew 26:53

Prayer

LORD . When we read this Verse , we See that Jesus could have called 24 000 Angels that was there for His Protection of Jesus on Earth . but He Never Did . God we also understand , That you could Have instructed this 24 000 Angels to Safe your only Son from Death , but You did not . the Reason: you Loved Me that Much. Thank You Lord , Thank you to the 24 000 Angels that stood Back when they Arrested Jesus , Treated Him like a Criminal and Crucified Him , Thank you to the Heavens , for Your Love towards Me . I pray this in Jesus name Amen and Amen

Luke 9:18 and it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
19 They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.
20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
    21 And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;
22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
27 But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

Bybel Vers en Gebed vir Vandag

Dink jy dat ek nie nou tot my Vader kan bid nie, en hy sal nou vir my meer as twaalf legioene engele gee?
Matteus 26:53

Gebed

HERE .

21 En hy het hulle streng bevel gegee en hulle beveel om dit aan niemand te vertel nie;

Bible Teaching of the Day

Concentrate on the Cross – Part 19

The practice of tracing the sign of the cross is most prominent in the Roman Catholic Church but is also practiced in the Eastern Orthodox, Coptic, Lutheran, Anglican, and Episcopalian churches. The history of the sign of the cross goes back as far as Tertullian, the early church father who lived between A.D. 160 and 220. Tertullian wrote, “In all our travels and movements, in all our coming in and going out, in putting off our shoes, at the bath, at the table, in lighting our candles, in lying down, in sitting down, whatever employment occupieth us, we mark our foreheads with the sign of the cross.”

Originally, a small cross was traced by the thumb or finger on one’s own forehead. While it is difficult to pinpoint exactly when the switch was made from tracing a small cross on the forehead to the modern practice of tracing a larger cross from forehead to chest and shoulder to shoulder, we do know that the switch had occurred by the eleventh century A.D., when the Prayer Book of King Henry provides an instruction to “mark with the holy cross the four sides of the body.”

Catholics find support for the sign of the cross primarily in their many years of church tradition and, secondarily, in Exodus 17:9-14 and Revelation 7:3; 9:4; 14:1. While the passages do speak of a sign on the forehead for protection from God’s judgment, they must be interpreted in light of their context. On the basis of their context, there is no reason to believe any of the verses prescribe the ritualistic sign of the cross.

In the sixteenth century, one of the central tenets of the Protestant Reformation was “sola scriptura,” whereby any practice that didn’t line up with Scripture was jettisoned. The English Reformers believed the use of the sign of the cross should be left up to the individual, as was written in the Prayer Book of King Edward VI. “…Kneeling, crossing, holding up of hands, knocking upon the breast, and other gestures, they may be used, or left, as every man’s devotion serveth without blame.” Protestants generally viewed the sign as a tradition that was unsupported by Scripture, or even as idolatrous, and it was therefore abandoned by most.

While the Bible does not instruct us to cross ourselves, the sign of the cross is not without biblical symbolism. The shape of the sign is a reminder of the cross of Christ. Historically, the sign has also been viewed as representing the trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His substitutionary death on the cross, salvation is extended as a free gift to all of humanity. The doctrine of the trinity teaches the Godhead: one God existing in three distinct persons. Both doctrines are foundational to both Catholics and Protestants and are certainly well-founded biblically. The sign of the cross has at certain points been associated with supernatural powers such as repelling evil, demons, etc. This mystical aspect of the sign of the cross is completely false and cannot be supported biblically in any way.

The mystical aspect aside, tracing the sign of the cross is neither right nor wrong and can be positive if it serves to remind a person of the cross of Christ and/or the trinity. Unfortunately, such is not always the case, and many people simply go through the motions of the ritual of signing themselves without a knowledge of why they do it. A final analysis of the sign of the cross is that it is by no means required of Christians because it is not instructed by the Word of God.

Today’s Devotional

“DO IT QUICKLY ”

This message may not apply to all, but please read it prayerfully, allowing God’s Holy Spirit to instill the urgency of God’s call in this day.

“As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So, Jesus told him, “What you are about to do, do [it] quickly.” (John 13:27 -NIV)

As we are entering a time of reflection, in which we will reflect on the life, death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I am driven by the Holy Spirit to say, “What you are about to do, do [it] quickly.”

Time is running out; the hourglass is running empty. We have no time to waste. We can no longer toil. Whatever we are about to do, we must do it quickly.

Today, before sitting at the table, before partaking of the cup, before consuming the bread, we need to respond to God’s call. And since it is of utmost importance, we must do it quickly.

Like in the days of Joshua, we are called upon to make a choice. The words of Joshua are echoing through the ages, are ringing like church bells on resurrection morning to make a choice. “…. choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell.” (Joshua 24:15 – KJV)

Just so the utterance of Elijah can still be heard by God’s holy Spirit. Elijah came unto all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” (1 Kings 18:21 – NKJV)

Even today the words of Paul remains a constant reminder of God’s infinite call. Paul said, “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.” (1 Corinthians 10:21 – NIV)

But most important, is the word given by the Lord to John in Revelation 3:15-16. The Lord is saying, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”

As we’re about to reflect on all Jesus did, and on all Jesus gave, let us ask ourselves whether we’re at the place we ought to be, whether we’re serious about serving the King of kings and the Lord of lords. (See Revelation 19:16)

But whatever you are about to do, do [it] quickly.

Vandag se Bemoediging

“DOEN DIT GOU”

(Josua 24:15 – KJV)

As die HERE God is, volg Hom, maar as Baäl, volg Hom. (1 Konings 18:21)

Gaither : Easter Sing Along 2025

INTRODUCTION TO THE GOSPEL ARTIST

MEET : Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound (formerly known as The Signature Sound Quartet) is an American Southern Gospel quartet founded in 2002 by Ernie Haase, former Cathedral Quartet tenor and Garry Jones, former Gold City pianist. As of June 2024, the group consists of Ernie Haase (tenor), Doug Anderson (baritone), Dustin Doyle (lead), Christopher Taylor (bass) and Tyler Vestal (piano). The group has released 34 albums and 17 DVDs, many of which feature other Christian and Gospel artists.

History & Origin
In 1999, the Cathedral Quartet announced their farewell tour due to the ongoing health issues of George Younce and Glen Payne. Lead singer Glen Payne died on October 15, 1999, before the end of the tour. Upon request of Glen Payne, the remaining members finished the tour with pianist Roger Bennett performing Payne’s vocals. Following the tour Bennett and baritone Scott Fowler formed Legacy Five while Ernie Haase continued his solo career.

Subsequently, former Cathedrals bass George Younce and Jake Hess, along with Bill Gaither formed The Old Friends Quartet with Ernie Haase, Wesley Pritchard, and Garry Jones. The Old Friends Quartet disbanded after about two years on the road, however, as Hess and Younce’s ill health prevented them from doing much traveling. Ernie Haase, along with Jones, continued quartet singing and wished to create a quartet with a modern image and attitude, but traditional in sound. Haase and Jones, together with lead singer Shane Dunlap, baritone Doug Anderson, and bass singer Tim Duncan formed the Signature Sound Quartet. They recorded three albums, Stand by Me released in April 2002, followed by Building a Bridge and Glory To His Name in 2003. They participated in their first live concert (Live in Indiana) at Reardon Auditorium, in Anderson, Indiana, on February 21, 2003.

2003–04
Later Shane Dunlap left Signature Sound to start a solo career after release of their third album Glory to His Name in 2003. Wesley Pritchard took Dunlap’s position while the group searched for a full-time lead. Jones and Haase dissolved their business relationship after the first year and Roy Webb was chosen as pianist. Later, they found Ryan Seaton (formerly of The Melody Boys Quartet) and hired him as the new lead singer. Haase’s father-in-law George Younce became co-owner of the quartet and helped the group have an affiliation with the Gaither Music Group. They released their fourth album, The Ground is Level, followed by Great Love in 2004.

Name change
In 2004, the group changed its name to Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, reportedly in order to avoid confusion with other similarly titled regional groups.[citation needed] They released their self-titled album in October 2005. They signed with the Gaither Music Group and became regular performers with the Gaither Homecoming tours and videos. In May 2007, pianist Roy Webb left the band to be with his father, who was dying of cancer. On May 29, 2007, it was announced that Webb had resigned from the group. Later,[when?] it was announced that Gordon Mote would be the group’s piano player during their Get Away Jordan summer tour supporting their album Get Away, Jordan released in January 2007.

Singer and producer Bill Gaither eventually began scheduling a second series of concerts with only Signature Sound and the Gaither Vocal Band appearing together. Due in part to the popularity of these concerts, the two groups decided to record a single album together, entitled Together, which debuted in October 2007. On the DVD, it was hinted that future collaborations between Signature Sound and the Vocal Band were upcoming. Producer and songwriter Wayne Haun has served as their pianist since their 2008 Summer tour. The group’s next project was entitled, Dream On. This was released in late October 2008 and was filmed in Chicago, at the Navy Pier Ballroom.

The Cathedrals Tributes

In January 2009, Ernie Haase announced a Cathedrals tribute tour was next on the quartet’s agenda and the group started touring with a live band that included Wayne Haun on the piano, David Griffith on the bass, Kelly Vaughan on electric guitar and Zak Shumate on the drums. In September 2009, following a three-year hiatus from the National Quartet Convention, Haase and Signature Sound returned to performing there along with the rest of the Gaither Homecoming performers. Haase was unable to appear with former Cathedrals members Scott Fowler, Gerald Wolfe, Mark Trammell, and Danny Funderburk for a NQC special showcase presentation called The Cathedrals Remembered, a tribute concert at the convention in which the former Cathedral members joined forces to sing many old Cathedral songs and to honor George Younce and Glen Payne. Haase had other engagements over the weekend and had to leave NQC early, prior to the taping.

In October 2009 the group released a second Christmas album entitled Every Light That Shines At Christmas which was the final album to feature Ryan Seaton. They also released a DVD video of the same title which was recorded LIVE for the Gospel Music Channel. On December 28, 2009, Ernie announced that Ryan Seaton was leaving the quartet after 6 years to pursue other interests and that former Karen Peck and New River lead/tenor Devin McGlamery would be joining as the new lead singer, and they released A Tribute to the Cathedral Quartet in October 2010.

2011–15
On January 18, 2011, it was announced that bass singer Tim Duncan had left after 8 years, and Ian Owens had joined the group as the new bass singer for the group.[3] The group released a new project called Here We Are Again in February 2012. In October 2012, Ian Owens announced his resignation after 2 years[4] and later joined Soul’d Out Quartet,[5] and Paul Harkey joined as the new bass singer.[6] In April 2015, Doug Anderson announced in a video with Haase that he will be stepping down from his position in Signature Sound to pursue a full-time solo career. Anderson had been with the group as its baritone singer since its inception in 2002, a total of 13 years. It was later announced that Dustin Doyle of Beyond The Ashes will be replacing Anderson in the Baritone part.[7]

2020–present
In June 2020, Haase had suspended their touring schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later they created the Living Room Sing to which they sang songs from their Something Beautiful album. On September 11, they renamed it to Friday Night Sing, a 16 episodes series of stories and songs which featured many special guests. It premiered every Friday night from September 11 to December 25, 2020. In March 2021, Haase announced that on March 12 they will continue their touring schedule. The group then released Keeping On on July 23, 2021. The album was the final project to feature Devin McGlamery as it was announced on September 14, 2021, that he would be leaving the group at the end of October after 11 years and Doug Anderson would be rejoining the group in November 2021. In October 2021, they created a second season of the Friday Night Sing called Good To Be Home, a 10 episodes series. Just like the first season, they shared stories and sang songs from their Keeping On album and it too feature some special guests. The show premiered every Friday night from October 8 to December 10, 2021.

In 2022, the group crossed genres and recorded a traditional pop album called Decades of Love, an album of standard pop love songs that were covered by the group spanning nearly 10 decades. The album was released on August 5, 2022. The project originally was dedicated to the wives of the group’s members, but became a successful album by being a top 10 pop music release on iTunes the week it was released. The group continues to be one of the top acts in the Gospel and Christian music field. In 2023, the group celebrated 20 years by recording a live album in Amsterdam entitled Live in Amsterdam: A 20th Anniversary Celebration which was released on August 10, 2023. The album features some of the groups most popular songs. This was the final album to feature Paul Harkey.

In February 2024, they created a third season of the Friday Night Sing, a 6 episodes series. In this season, each member shared stories about their families and their journey with the group. All Friday Night Sing episodes (including Good To Be Home) were live-streamed on YouTube. They’ve sang songs from their Live in Amsterdam album including some hymns. The show premiered every Friday night from February 2 to March 8, 2024. On April 23, it was announced that Paul Harkey will step down from the group after 12 years at the end of May 2024 and that Christopher Taylor will be the new bass singer on June 15. On October 4, 2024, they released a DVD/CD album called Live in Memphis. It was recorded at the Memphis Quartet Show in Memphis, Tennessee.

Bible Prophecy in the News

Israel ‘seriously concerned’ by US withdrawal from Syria

Israel has expressed its concerns to the United States regarding a planned withdrawal of American troops from Syria, months after Islamist rebel groups ousted longtime dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Many of the rebel groups involved in the takeover of Syria, including the interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, were previously affiliated with the Al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist organizations.

Currently, there are some 2,000 American soldiers in Syria, mostly concentrated in the northeast region of the country.

An American source told the Reuters news agency that the Trump administration intends to reduce that number by half, leaving just 1,000 soldiers on the ground.

A different US official told Reuters that the number of troops will be slashed, but by less than 50 percent.

Israel told Washington it is alarmed by the prospect of the US scaling back its presence in Syria.

An Israeli official said to Reuters it is concerned that a potential power vacuum will be created when US troops leave.

Jerusalem fears that Turkey – which has expressed open hostility towards the Jewish State in recent years – may exert more influence over the embattled country after the American withdrawal.

Introduction to the Bible – Bible Summary

Summary of the Book of 1 Kings
Author:
The Book of 1 Kings does not specifically name its author. The tradition is that it
was written by the Prophet Jeremiah. Full article: Who wrote the book of 1 Kings? Who
was the author of 1 Kings?
Date of Writing: The Book of 1 Kings was likely written between 560 and 540 B.C.
Purpose of Writing: This book is the sequel to 1 and 2 Samuel and begins by tracing
Solomon’s rise to kingship after the death of David. The story begins with a united
kingdom, but ends in a nation divided into 2 kingdoms, known as Judah and Israel. 1
and 2 Kings are combined into one book in the Hebrew Bible.
Key Verses:
1 Kings 1:30, “I will surely carry out today what I swore to you by the LORD, the God of
Israel: Solomon your son shall be king after me, and he will sit on my throne in my
place.”
1 Kings 9:3, “The LORD said to him: ‘I have heard the prayer and plea you have made
before me; I have consecrated this temple, which you have built, by putting my Name
there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.'”
1 Kings 12:16, “When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, they
answered the king: ‘What share do we have in David, what part in Jesse’s son? To your
tents, O Israel! Look after your own house, O David!'”
1 Kings 12:28, “After seeking advice, the king made two golden calves. He said to the
people, ‘It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem. Here are your gods, O Israel, who
brought you up out of Egypt.'”
1 Kings 17:1, “Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, ‘As the LORD,
the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few
years except at my word.'”
Brief Summary: The book of 1 Kings starts with Solomon and ends with Elijah. The
difference between the two gives you an idea as to what lies between. Solomon was
born after a palace scandal between David and Bathsheba. Like his father, he had a
weakness for women that would bring him down. Solomon did well at first, praying for
wisdom and building a temple to God that took seven years to construct. But then he
spent thirteen years building a palace for himself. His accumulation of many wives led
him to worship their idols and away from God. After Solomon’s death, Israel was ruled
by a series of kings, most of whom were evil and idolatrous. The nation fell further away
from God, and even the preaching of Elijah could not bring them back. Among the most
evil kings were Ahab and his queen, Jezebel, who brought the worship of Baal to new
heights in Israel. Elijah tried to turn the Israelites back to the worship of Yahweh,
challenging the idolatrous priests of Baal to a showdown with God on Mount Carmel. Of
course, God won. This made Queen Jezebel angry (to say the least). She ordered Elijah’s
death, so he ran away and hid in the wilderness. Depressed and exhausted, he said, “Let
me die.” But God sent food and encouragement to the prophet and whispered to him in
a “quiet gentle sound” and in the process saved his life for further work.
Foreshadowings: The Temple in Jerusalem, where God’s Spirit would dwell in the Holy
of Holies, foreshadows believers in Christ in whom the Holy Spirit resides from the
moment of our salvation. Just as the Israelites were to forsake idolatry, so are we to put
away anything that separates us from God. We are His people, the very temple of the
living God. Second Corinthians 6:16 tells us, “What agreement is there between the
temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will
live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my
people.’”
Elijah the prophet was the forerunner of Christ and the Apostles of the New Testament.
God enabled Elijah to do miraculous things in order to prove that he was truly a man of
God. He raised from the dead the son of the widow of Zarephath, causing her to
exclaim, “”Now I know that you are a man of God and that the word of the LORD from
your mouth is the truth.” In the same way, men of God who spoke His words through
His power are evident in the New Testament. Not only did Jesus raise Lazarus from the
dead, but He also raised the son of the widow of Nain (Luke 7:14-15) and Jairus’
daughter (Luke 8:52-56). The Apostle Peter raised Dorcas (Acts 9:40) and Paul raised
Eutychus (Acts 20:9-12).
Practical Application: The Book of 1 Kings has many lessons for believers. We see a
warning about the company we keep, and especially in regard to close associations and
marriage. The kings of Israel who, like Solomon, married foreign women exposed
themselves and the people they ruled to evil. As believers in Christ, we must be very
careful about whom we choose as friends, business associates, and spouses. “Do not be
misled: Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33).
Elijah’s experience in the wilderness also teaches a valuable lesson. After his incredible
victory over the 450 prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, his joy turned to sorrow when
he was pursued by Jezebel and fled for his life. Such “mountaintop” experiences are
often followed by a letdown and the depression and discouragement that can follow.
We have to be on guard for this type of experience in the Christian life. But our God is
faithful and will never leave or forsake us. The quiet, gentle sound that encouraged
Elijah will encourage us.

Inleiding tot die Bybel – Bybel Samevatting

Opsomming van die Boek 1
Konings
Skrywer:
geskryf?
Sleutelverse:
1 Konings 1:30 , “Ek sal sekerlik vandag uitvoer wat ek vir jou by die HERE, die God van
Israel, met ‘n eed beloof het: Jou seun Salomo sal ná my koning word, en hy sal op my
troon sit in my plek. “
My oë en my hart sal altyd daar wees.'”
aandeel in Isai se seun? , O Israel!
of reën wees nie, behalwe op my woord.'”
Salomo is gebore ná ‘n paleisskandaal
gesê: “Laat my doodgaan.”
werk.
my volk wees.'”
