You Need Confidence and Endurance

Hebrews 10:36 could be considered an encapsulation of the entire message of the book of Hebrews: “For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised” (ESV). Previously, the author exhorted the reader to “not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward” (verse 35, ESV). This confidence stems from all that was previously written in Hebrews, concerning the superiority of Christ in both His person and salvific work. Now, the recipients of the epistle have a need of endurance.

The book of Hebrews was directed toward persecuted Jewish Christians, many of whom had grown weary and entertained considerations of reverting to Judaism. The goal of the book was to stop their defection from Christ. The author thus portrays the superiority of the New Covenant over the Old, the sufficiency of Christ, and the dangers of apostasy. Given the richness of the gifts God has offered through Christ, we are called to persevere in life. The Hebrew Christians faced real persecution. When the writer of Hebrews says, “You have need of endurance,” he is issuing a call for perseverance and persistence, needed traits in the Christian journey. We live in an ungodly world full of hardship and adversity, and endurance is essential.

Jesus and His apostles also emphasized on the need for endurance. Speaking to His disciples, Jesus said, “You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved” (Matthew 10:22, emphasis added). He also commended the church in Ephesus for persevering (Revelation 2:2) and encouraged the church at Smyrna to “not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. . . . Be faithful, even to the point of death” (Revelation 2:10). In the same vein, Peter commends believers who suffer for doing good (1 Peter 2:20), Paul encourages us not to become weary (Galatians 6:9), and James points to the Old Testament prophets as examples to follow (James 5:10–11). The uniform witness of Scripture is that Christians need endurance.

We may not all face malicious persecution in the modern world, but every Christian has experienced trials, including unexpected bills, financial strains, family breakdowns, or pressure to conform to unbiblical values. Added to these external hardships are temptations and struggles with the flesh. Like the Jewish Christians, one may feel tempted to leave Christianity or “deconstruct” to a compromised version of the faith. The words of Jesus, His apostles, and the book of Hebrews ring true today. We need endurance as much as the Christians of the first century.

Unfortunately, some Christians neglect the need for endurance. Some churches promote the false belief that Christians are exempt from suffering and promise unending comfort if they say the right words and apply faith. Such doctrine may appease the carnal mind, but it leaves believers to face the trials of life. Far better to teach the whole counsel of Scripture, including the need to endure trials.

But how do we endure trials? By our own strength? Hardly. Before Jesus’ arrest, the disciples believed their human effort would help them stand firm, but they abandoned Jesus in Gethsemane (Mark 14:50). Later, they all endured great persecution and remained unshaken in their faith. What made the difference? Witnessing the resurrection, and the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. The gospel and the Spirit help us endure.

Hebrews 10:35 states, “Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward” (ESV). The KJV and NKJV say “cast” instead of “throw.” The Greek word translated as “confidence” is parrēsian. This Greek term encompasses a sense of boldness and assurance. A form of the same word is used in Hebrews 4:16, where believers are encouraged to “approach God’s throne of grace with confidence.” Biblical confidence is not based on self-assurance or human strength but on the once-and-for-all sacrifice of Christ. Therefore, when the writer says, “Do not throw away your confidence” in Hebrews 10:35, the command is to maintain boldness and assurance, even amid persecution.

The epistle of Hebrews was written to Jewish Christians who were facing hardship and persecution. The trials had caused some of them to consider reverting to Judaism or abandon the faith altogether. Aware of their struggles, the writer of Hebrews encouraged them to remain steadfast in their faith and not return to their former ways. In this context, the warning not to “throw away your confidence” is especially poignant, speaking directly to the temptation to abandon the faith they had embraced.

Hebrews 10:35 comes after a lengthy discussion on the supremacy of Christ’s sacrifice over the old sacrificial system. The Old Testament sacrificial system was temporary, and the sacrifices had to be repeated day after day. The sacrifice of Christ, however, was once-and-for-all, providing believers with direct and permanent access to God:

“Brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:19–22, ESV).

The exhortation not to “throw away your confidence” is firmly rooted in Christ’s finished work and the profound assurance it provides believers.

To not throw away our confidence means to remain steadfast in the faith. Believers must not abandon their boldness and assurance in Christ, even when circumstances might tempt them to do so. The trials we face are real and sometimes daunting, but the promise of reward is far greater. This reward is directly linked to holding on to our confidence in Christ.

Hebrews 10:35 says the believer’s confidence has “a great reward” (NKJV). It is an eternal reward, even. The following verse stirs believers to perseverance: “You have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise” (Hebrews 10:36, NKJV). The reward for perseverance is witnessing the fulfillment of all God’s promises, including eternal life and communion with Him. Confidence amid persecution is tied to our hope in the promises of God.

The promise of reward is a recurring biblical theme. In Matthew 5:11–12, Jesus spoke of the rewards awaiting the faithful. Paul also reminded the Corinthians that their labor in the Lord will reap a benefit: “My beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58, NKJV). The command, “Do not throw away your confidence,” in Hebrews 10:35 reminds believers that God sees and honors the perseverance of His people.

“It will be worth it all when we see Jesus;
Life’s trials will seem so small when we see Christ.
One glimpse of His dear face all sorrow will erase,
So bravely run the race till we see Christ.”

In Romans 5:1–5, the apostle Paul elaborates on the peace and joy that accompany being justified by faith. A person who puts his or her faith in Jesus Christ is no longer condemned to face God’s wrath but stands secure in a state of grace: “Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God” (Romans 5:1–2, HCSB).

Because of our faith in Jesus Christ, we are brought into a place of undeserved privilege and favor with God. All is well with our souls. In Christ, we are safe from all harm. This new secure standing results in a sense of peace and joy. To “rejoice” usually means to feel or show great happiness or delight. However, in Romans 5:2, the Greek word translated as “rejoice” actually means “to show off verbally, to boast or exult.” It refers to expressing trust in God to do what He promised. In the context of this passage, rejoicing is not merely a fleeting emotion but a deep-seated sense of assurance grounded in the Lord’s faithfulness. This joy stems from the hope of the glory of God.

The believer’s hope is not wishful thinking but a confident expectation rooted in trust and faith in God. Our joy and hope are firmly anchored upon the assurance that God will fulfill His promises. They are cemented in the character and faithfulness of God. We have joy, hope, and confidence that the future holds the fulfillment of God’s Word to us. In Romans 5:2, this hope is tied explicitly to the “glory of God.”

The glory of God refers to His divine presence (John 1:14), majesty (Psalm 8:1), and holiness (Isaiah 6:3; Psalm 29:2). It represents the manifestation of God’s character and power (Romans 9:23). Because we have peace with God through Jesus Christ, we have obtained complete and unhindered access to God’s glorious presence (see Hebrews 4:16). Paul says in Ephesians 3:12, “Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence” (NLT).

For believers, rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God involves an expectation of sharing in the fullness of God’s glory. We have the forward-facing assurance of our ultimate completion in Jesus Christ (see Philippians 1:6), as Paul explains in Colossians 1:27: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” This hope includes the anticipation of eternal life (1 Peter 1:3–5), the resurrection of the body (Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 6:14; 2 Corinthians 4:14; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17), and the ultimate redemption of creation (see Romans 8:19–21; 1 Peter 5:10).

While believers will fully experience God’s glory in the future, there is also a present aspect to this glory. As Christians live in a state of grace, they reflect God’s glory through their lives (Matthew 5:14–16; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 3:10; Philippians 2:15). Our transformation and sanctification are ongoing processes that reveal God’s character and glory to the world (Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 4:16; Ephesians 4:20–24).

Interestingly, Paul does not shy away from the reality of suffering. Immediately following Romans 5:2, he states, “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation” (Romans 5:3–4, NLT).

Everything in our lives, even suffering, has a good purpose (Romans 8:28). Suffering, when faced with faith, produces perseverance or endurance. Perseverance, in turn, shapes and develops character. This character is not self-made but formed by the Holy Spirit’s work within believers (Romans 15:13; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 3:16; Titus 3:5).

Ultimately, this process strengthens our hope. The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in this dynamic: “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us” (Romans 5:5). The Spirit reassures us of God’s love and the certainty of His promises, making our hope steadfast (see Hebrews 6:19–20).

Rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God is not dependent on circumstances but on the unchanging promises of God. We can rejoice in our secure position with God in Jesus Christ, regardless of what is happening around us. We can persevere through trials, knowing they will lead to spiritual growth and unwavering hope.

Rejoicing in the hope of the glory of God transforms our perspectives, priorities, and interactions. We experience a living hope that develops resilience in the face of adversity and cultivates a lifestyle that honors God. As ambassadors of this hope, we share the message of God’s grace and glory with others.

While our passage begins with an “If…,” it would be better translated as “Since we have…” Our call to sacrificially submit ourselves to others does not begin with our sacrifice, but with Jesus’ love, example, and sacrifice! We are called to unity in spirit and shared purpose after having received all these blessings from being in Jesus! We are encouraged by being united with Christ. We are comforted by his love. We do share in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. We have received tenderness and compassion. So, dear brother and sister, how can we not share those blessings with our Christian family and find a way to live together in his Kingdom with loving harmony?

Prayer

Holy and righteous Father, you have blessed me so richly in Jesus. Open my eyes to see how those around me in my spiritual family need to receive those same blessings from me. In the name of Jesus, and because of the grace he has lavished upon me, I pray with thanksgiving in my heart. Amen and Amen

The Earth stops Spinning at the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ. When Jesus places his feet on the Mount of Olives after the Rapture have taken place, The Earth’s Rotation Stops to ZERO Km/p/h and Total Destruction on Earth takes place as explained in the Bible.

Jesus Arrives at the 6th Seal opening, The Rapture takes place at the 7th Trumpet and the Battle of Armageddon starts at the 7th seal, the 7th Plaque of God’s Wrath.

The Earth is currently spinning / rotating at +/- 1000 miles per hour.

As Jesus arrives on the Clouds, the 7th Trumpet sounds and the angels start collecting the Dead and alive in Christ to meet Him in the Air.

As the Elect of Christ Ascends to Heaven past Christ in the Air. Christ comes down on Earth and stand with both feet on the Mount of Olives to take care of the Battle of Armageddon.

That’s when the Earth’s Rotation / Spinning will stop from 1000 km/per/h to O km/p/h and cause total destruction on earth as described in the Bible and confirm by scientist in the video below ,

Then disaster on Earth takes place.

Jesus arrives at the 6th Seal .

We’ve all been there. Waking up to a nice cup of coffee in the morning gazing at the world outside asking ourselves random hypotheticals: is your package going to be delivered today? If the car doesn’t start, can you just stay home and skip work? What would happen if the Earth suddenly stopped spinning? You know – the basics.

But what would happen if the Earth’s spin came to a jarring halt? Well a few things. As physics has taught us in the past, momentum and velocity are two of the governing properties of movement. Technically speaking, the world has a rotation of about 1,100 miles per hour around the equator, stopping suddenly would have the same effect as a car driving full tilt being acted upon a wall of other immovable object: chaos.

A sudden stop would be fairly catastrophic: land masses would be wiped clean of anything not attached to the bedrock below us: everything above it, including the topsoil, trees, roads, buildings and us would be swept away into the atmosphere. Not a very desirable option. However, a slow decaying spin would be less jarring, but just as disastrous.

Day-night cycles would be similar to those at the poles, with daylight being available for half a year, and night-time occupying the other half. Temperatures would increase at the equator, and reduce at the poles, eventually changing atmospheric patterns. Additionally, we would lose the Earth’s magnetic field, losing not just the auroras but also our protection from cosmic rays and other high-energy particles.

Did I mention that the lack of centrifugal force would lead much of the coastlines to look a lot different than they are today? The poles would actually be flooded, and the Earth would have a giant landmass at the equator that linked all of us together in a giant Pangean supercontinent.

Essentially, there would be a fairly large change to our daily lives. No more seasons – at least, not like we know them – a change in circadian cycles and all the issues associated to that, without mentioning the effects on the environment – both for us and the larger food web. An ecosystem collapse may not be entirely out of reach in this case, but there are too many questions that remain unanswered to know for sure. One thing however, is for sure, Apart from the huge shift of resources, people, land, temperatures and a myriad of other factors, this id definitely not something that would benefit us in any way.

Earth’s magnetic field is getting significantly weaker, the magnetic north pole is shifting at an accelerating pace, and scientists readily admit that a sudden pole shift could potentially cause “trillions of dollars” in damage. Today, most of us take the protection provided by Earth’s magnetic field completely for granted. It is essentially a colossal force field which surrounds our planet and makes life possible. And even with such protection, a giant solar storm could still potentially hit our planet and completely fry our power grid. But as our magnetic field continues to get weaker and weaker, even much smaller solar storms will have the potential to be cataclysmic. And once the magnetic field gets weak enough, we will be facing much bigger problems. As you will see below, if enough solar radiation starts reaching our planet none of us will survive.

Previously, scientists had told us that the magnetic field was weakening by about 5 percent every 100 years.

But now we are being told that data collected from the SWARM satellite indicate that the rate of decay is now 5 percent per decade…

It’s well established that in modern times, the axial dipole component of Earth’s main magnetic field is decreasing by approximately 5% per century. Recently, scientists using the SWARM satellite announced that their data indicate a decay rate ten times faster, or 5% per decade.

In case you didn’t quite get that, 5 percent per decade is 10 times faster than 5 percent per century.

If the rate of decay continues at this pace, or if it speeds up even more, we could be looking at a mass extinction event that is beyond what most people would dare to imagine.

As more solar radiation reaches Earth, we would expect to see a rise in cancer rates, and this is something that even National Geographic has acknowledged…

However, if the magnetic field gets substantially weaker and stays that way for an appreciable amount of time Earth will be less protected from the oodles of high-energy particles that are constantly flying around in space. This means that everything on the planet will be exposed to higher levels of radiation, which over time could produce an increase in diseases like cancer, as well as harm delicate spacecraft and power grids on Earth.

Of course we are already seeing this. Cancer rates have been rising all over the world, and if you live in the United States there is a one in three chance that you will get cancer in your lifetime.

But as the magnetic field continues to weaken, things will get worse.

A lot worse.

The weaker the magnetic field gets, the amount of solar radiation that will reach us will rise, and eventually it would get so bad that the entire human race would be in jeopardy. The following comes from Futurism…

Radiation and cosmic rays are a real concern for NASA, especially when it comes to long-term spaceflight. Astronauts on a mission to Mars could undergo up to 1000 times the exposure to radiation and cosmic rays that they would get on Earth. If Earth’s magnetic field disappeared, the entire human race – and all of life, in fact – would be in serious danger. Cosmic rays would bombard our bodies and could even damage our DNA, increasing worldwide risk of cancer and other illnesses. The flashes of light visible when we close our eyes would be the least of our problems.

And even if some of us found a way to survive underground for a while, we still wouldn’t be able to survive because solar winds would strip away our planet’s atmosphere and oceans…

Without Earth’s magnetic field, solar winds — streams of electrically charged particles that flow from the sun — would strip away the planet’s atmosphere and oceans. As such, Earth’s magnetic field helped to make life on the planet possible, researchers have said.

So could such a scenario actually happen?

Well, some scientists are saying that our magnetic field “could be gone in as little as 500 years”, but they are telling us not to worry because Earth’s magnetic poles will “flip” and things will eventually return to normal…

The magnetic field surrounding Earth is weakening, and scientists say it could be gone in as little as 500 years.

The result? Earth’s magnetic poles could, literally, flip upside down.

Of course most scientists believe that a pole flip takes hundreds or thousands of years to happen, but they don’t actually know because they have never seen one take place.

They also believe that we would potentially be facing “trillions of dollars in damage” to our power grid and electrical infrastructure because the magnetic field would be so weak during a flip…

Storms far less powerful than these could cause much more damage if they happened to hit while Earth’s magnetic field was in the midst of a reversal, Roberts said. The result would likely be trillions of dollars in damage to our electrical infrastructure, and right now, there’s no plan for dealing with an event of that magnitude.

“Hopefully, such an event is a long way in the future and we can develop future technologies to avoid huge damage,” Roberts concluded. Keep your fingers (but not your magnetic-field lines) crossed.

Most of the experts also believe that a pole flip is still a long way off, but what everybody agrees on is that the magnetic north pole is moving toward Russia at an accelerating pace…

But what’s really catching attention is the acceleration in movement. Around the mid-1990s, the pole suddenly sped up its movements from just over 9 miles (15 kilometers) a year to 34 miles (55 kilometers) annually. As of last year, the pole careened over the international date line toward the Eastern Hemisphere.

And earlier this year, authorities had to issue an emergency update to global positioning systems because “the magnetic field is changing so rapidly”…

The most recent version of the model came out in 2015 and was supposed to last until 2020 — but the magnetic field is changing so rapidly that researchers have to fix the model now. “The error is increasing all the time,” says Arnaud Chulliat, a geomagnetist at the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA’s) National Centers for Environmental Information.

I know that I must sound like a broken record by now, but this is important. Our planet is becoming increasingly unstable, and we are seeing things happen that we have never seen before.

Everyone agrees that the Earth’s magnetic field is rapidly getting weaker, and that is making us more vulnerable with each passing day.

Most of the experts are trying to put a happy face on things and are assuring us that everything is going to be okay.

Hopefully they are right, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Canada To Christian Doctors: Provide Puberty Blocker Or Be Fined Thousands

How much does it cost a doctor to say no?

In British Columbia, the answer is $28,100.

That is how much family physician Dr. Henry Ajaero has been ordered to pay after refusing to inject a 14-year-old biological boy with Lupron, a drug prescribed to suppress the child’s natural puberty as part of a gender-transition pathway.

Five years later, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal declared that decision discriminatory and ordered him to pay $20,000 for injury to the teenager’s “dignity, feelings, and self-respect.” He must also pay $8,100 for the expert evidence presented against him, plus interest until the judgment is satisfied.

This is what medical conscience now looks like in Canada: obey, inject or pay.

The Doctor Who Said No

Ajaero is not some fringe activist masquerading as a physician. He has operated a family practice in Delta since 2014. He cares for nearly 2,900 patients, works five days a week, sees approximately 50 patients a day and also works Saturdays at a walk-in clinic.

His schedule is relentless. Ten-minute appointments. Hundreds of laboratory reports, specialist recommendations, prescription requests and medical forms arriving every day. At the time of the incident, he was working through the extraordinary pressures of the COVID pandemic.

Then came the appointment that would follow him for years.

In March 2021, a 14-year-old patient arrived at his clinic for a Lupron injection prescribed through a gender clinic. When Ajaero discovered why the drug was being administered, he said he could not participate. He cited his religious beliefs, cultural background and lack of experience with that area of medicine.

The tribunal acknowledged that his decision was not malicious. It accepted that he acted in good faith and that he felt unprepared and uncomfortable.

Then it punished him anyway.

Good faith was not enough. Lack of experience was not enough. His clinical concerns were not enough. His Christian conscience was not enough.

The injection came first.

A Government Tribunal Interprets Christianity

The most dangerous part of the ruling is not the money. It is the breathtaking claim of authority behind it.

The tribunal accepted that Ajaero is a sincere Christian who believes that “God created man and woman.” Yet it ruled that requiring him to participate in this treatment would create only a “trivial or insubstantial” interference with his religious freedom.

A government tribunal had placed itself inside the doctor’s conscience.

It did not simply determine whether he had refused the injection. That fact was never in doubt. It decided whether administering a puberty blocker as part of a gender-transition pathway should genuinely violate his Christian beliefs.

The tribunal’s answer was effectively: We accept that this is your religion, but we do not accept that your religion permits you to say no.

This is religious freedom reduced to a decorative slogan. Christians may believe what the Bible teaches about male and female, but when those beliefs produce an actual moral boundary, the state reserves the right to erase it.

Faith is tolerated only while it remains silent, private and powerless.

From Physician To Functionary

The tribunal reasoned that administering the drug was merely an intramuscular injection. Specialists had prescribed the medication and were overseeing the treatment. Ajaero only needed to give the shot.

But a doctor is not an injection machine.

A prescription written by one physician does not eliminate the medical judgment or moral responsibility of another. The person holding the needle is still participating. He is still accountable for what he places into a child’s body.

If physicians are free to act only when they agree with the government-approved medical consensus, they are no longer independent professionals. They are functionaries carrying out orders.

That becomes especially disturbing when the treatment itself is the subject of an international medical reckoning.

Lupron has legitimate uses and has existed for decades. But using puberty blockers to interrupt the normal development of gender-distressed children remains fiercely contested. Britain banned new prescriptions for gender dysphoria outside approved research after independent experts found inadequate evidence supporting their safety and clinical effectiveness.

One Western country examined the evidence and pulled back. British Columbia punished a doctor who would not participate.

Conscience On Trial

This ruling will not remain confined to puberty blockers.

Every Christian physician in Canada should be asking what comes next. What happens when a doctor refuses to participate in an abortion, assisted suicide, cross-sex hormone treatment or the removal of healthy organs?

Will a tribunal once again acknowledge that the doctor’s beliefs are sincere, then declare that violating them would cause only a “trivial” interference?

Canada is creating a medical system in which patients possess expanding rights to demand controversial procedures while physicians possess a rapidly shrinking right to refuse them. The person requesting the intervention is treated as morally sovereign. The person expected to perform it must surrender.

Dr. Ajaero spent years building a medical practice that now serves thousands of people. He works long days in a country suffering from a severe shortage of family physicians. Yet none of that protected him when his conscience collided with gender ideology.

He would not inject a child with a puberty-blocking drug.

For saying no, Canada handed him a bill for $28,100.

And every doctor watching now knows the price of becoming the next one to refuse.

The Methodist Shaking: One Church Is Shrinking While Another Is Growing

For years, traditional Methodists were warned that holding firmly to biblical teaching would leave them isolated, irrelevant and unable to survive in a changing culture. If the church wanted a future, they were told, it would have to become more inclusive, more flexible and less dogmatic about what Scripture actually says.

Then the United Methodist Church split—and something unexpected happened.

The denomination that embraced progressive theology has continued struggling with declining membership, aging congregations and church closures. Meanwhile, the Global Methodist Church, formed only four years ago around historic Wesleyan doctrine and biblical authority, has grown from approximately 4,700 congregations in 2024 to 7,250 today.

It now includes 55 annual conferences, with much of its recent expansion occurring outside the United States. What began as a refuge for congregations leaving the United Methodist Church is increasingly taking the shape of a global Christian movement.

The Methodist shaking brought enormous pain. Congregations lost buildings. Friendships were broken. Pastors watched churches they had served for decades become divided. Millions of dollars were spent disentangling local congregations from a denominational structure many no longer recognized.

But on the other side of that shaking, two very different futures are emerging.

The Argument Was Never Only About Sexuality

The public battle centered on same-sex marriage and the ordination of practicing LGBTQ clergy. In 2024, the United Methodist General Conference removed its longstanding bans on both.

Yet sexuality was never the deepest issue. Beneath that debate was a more fundamental question: Does the Bible possess the authority to correct the church, or may the church reinterpret the Bible whenever its teachings conflict with the culture?

Once Scripture becomes something to be revised rather than obeyed, nearly every Christian doctrine becomes negotiable. Sin can be redefined. Repentance can be discarded. The uniqueness of Christ can be softened. The Gospel can gradually be transformed from God’s rescue of sinners into a religious endorsement of whatever the surrounding culture already believes.

Traditional Methodists eventually realized they were not simply arguing over one paragraph in a denominational rulebook. They were worshiping alongside people who increasingly spoke a different theological language.

One side viewed the church as an institution that must evolve with society. The other believed the church had been entrusted with a message it had no authority to rewrite.

That conflict could not continue forever.

The Cost Of Compromise

The United Methodist Church has been declining in America for generations. When the denomination was formed in 1968, it had approximately 11 million American members. Today, that number has fallen below four million.

Some of the recent collapse resulted from more than 7,600 congregations leaving during the disaffiliation period. But the larger decline began decades before the Global Methodist Church existed.

The denomination’s progressive turn did not reverse that trajectory. It accelerated the theological realignment while offering little evidence that cultural accommodation can fill empty sanctuaries.

This pattern is not unique to Methodism. America’s mainline Protestant denominations have repeatedly surrendered historic Christian teachings in hopes of appearing more relevant. Yet the promised crowds rarely arrived. Churches gained favorable headlines, denominational resolutions and approval from cultural elites—but continued losing the people in the pews.

Why attend a church that offers little more than a spiritualized version of what can already be heard from universities, corporations, entertainment and political activists?

People may admire a church that mirrors the culture. They do not necessarily believe they need it.

Something New Is Growing

The Global Methodist Church has built its identity around a very different calling: making disciples of Jesus Christ and spreading “scriptural holiness” throughout the world.

Those words sound almost revolutionary in an era when many churches appear embarrassed by certainty. The GMC speaks openly about conversion, holiness, evangelism, the authority of Scripture and the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Its recent General Conference in Johannesburg demonstrated how rapidly the movement is expanding. The number of congregations has grown by roughly 2,550 since its 2024 gathering. The number of annual conferences has risen from 36 to 55, with six additional areas being organized.

This is no longer merely a collection of angry American churches fleeing a denominational dispute. It is becoming a genuinely international Methodist body, with significant momentum across Africa, Asia, Eurasia, the Philippines, Europe and Latin America.

Growth alone does not prove faithfulness. Large churches can lose their way, and small churches can remain deeply faithful. But direction tells us something. One Methodist body is managing decades of contraction while the other is attracting congregations around a clear theological center.

Clarity has consequences.

A Warning To Every American Church

The Methodist split offers a warning far beyond Methodism. Churches cannot remain permanently divided over the authority of Scripture while pretending they are united by denominational branding, shared property or institutional history.

Eventually, the fault line opens.

When it does, faithfulness may carry a painful price. Some congregations leaving the United Methodist Church paid large sums to retain their buildings. Others walked away from sanctuaries filled with generations of baptisms, weddings, funerals and memories.

Yet a church is more than its property. It is a people gathered around Jesus Christ, submitted to His Word and commissioned to carry His Gospel into the world.

Perhaps that is what the Methodist shaking is now revealing. The separation was painful, but it also ended decades of paralysis. Congregations that once exhausted themselves fighting denominational battles can again concentrate on preaching Christ, making disciples and reaching their communities.

The old structure is shrinking. A new movement is growing.

The final story will not be written by membership reports or denominational statistics alone. It will be written in transformed lives, new believers, faithful pastors and congregations willing to proclaim the whole counsel of God.

But the early evidence is difficult to ignore: The churches told they had no future unless they surrendered to the culture may be the very churches discovering new life.
